I like Stephen Weiss, I just don't know if you can justify a raising his salary by 50% based on his play this season. If you're just paying for "hope" you might just as well keep Filppula.

So you'd prefer a guy who "tries to make plays" but succeeds less than the guy who is perceived to not be trying? Those 25% and 100% ... is there any way to substantiate that, or is that just your perception? Why do people feel that Bickell is a "tough guy"? He's big, but he's not really a fighter. Six fights in 4 seasons, lost most of them and doesn't fight heavyweights ... discounting one against Staubitz.

Maybe a stupid question, but why would they buy him out? He'll make about the same money as Jimmy Howard next season. He had a good regular season and is part of their core. Vokoun will be 37 by the time next season begins. I doubt the Pens have soured on Fleury, despite the fact that Vokoun is playing right now.
