Just a reasonable question for those who've already hit the panic button: Which contract given out today would you have liked to see Holland match, or improve upon to get said player to Detroit?

Avs have to spend money and could have gotten Vokoun for money. To burn a 1st and a 2nd on Varlamov is crazy.

The Wings never show their hand ahead of time ... therefore, no indication of anything. I doubt they'll trade for Weber or Doughty. I've been saying for weeks (not here) that the only guy that really makes sense for the Wings is Richards. He wants to win, doesn't want a big market team. The Wings need him in the top six ... he seems like a perfect fit for them, and them for him.

Clearly the Wings are going to go hard for Brad Richards. They won't leave money on the table and other than offer sheets to Doughty or Stamkos, there's no other players that make sense for the Wings at BIG money.

He might have a lot of cap space, but he's only got 6 forwards signed, plus 5 defensemen (2 of which were not regulars) for the coming season. I thought he went a little long on St. Louis.
