Canucks may take another RFA shot

Well Tavares would be on an entry level contract, so he's no problem for the first 3 years. Them he becomes a restricted free agent and you go through the same scenario of someone presenting him an offer sheet and you collect all the picks again. It's perfect, however unlikely.

Canucks may take another RFA shot

What are you saying? If he doesn't sign an offer sheet submitted by team "X", he has to sit the year out? That's ridiculous.

Canucks may take another RFA shot

He does have a choice. He can continue to negotiate with his current club, and any other club for that matter, until he signs an offer sheet or a contract with the Wings. He can talk to any team he likes, anytime from the draft on.

I don't understand how they'd fit Luongo's $7 million contrct and remain within the cap, but you can dream I guess.

Huh, he doesn't have to sign or sit out? What are you trying to suggest? That Flip will sit out rather than sign an offer sheet from another club? He either signs the offer sheet or continues to negotiate with his current club. The moment he signs anything, negotiations are over. The Wings match or they don't match

    Goodbye and good riddance.

    Is anyone disappointed....

The season is still 3 months away, and you're already disappointed with a lack of activity at the trade deadline? OK.

I understand they traded a 2010 pick and a 2009 pick, the point being, how many draft picks are you willing to forego to try and make your team better now?

Canucks may take another RFA shot

The Canucks traded two draft picks to Buffalo for Steve Bernier, so they're running low on picks already.

Why start another thread when you don't have a direct link to post?

He won't take it because Finnish people aren't greedy ... that's hilarious.

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

Consider this, the LA Kings have to spend $15 million toward the cap just to get to the "floor" for this coming season. There isn't too many decent players left who are UFA to spend that money on. Watch for the to make a play for other team's RFA through ridiculous offer sheets.

    Blake to San Jose

Did you bother to read the quote? He didn't suggest that Blake = Lidstrom. He compared them in terms of age and leadership qualities.

    The Enforcer Thread

Hey, you want to jettison Maltby or Kopecky to get a fighter, that's fine, they're redundant on this team anyway.

    Keeping Hossa longterm

    You're quoting yourself?

    Keeping Hossa longterm

Lebda's $850,000 ... the others are all unsigned for the season after next, therefore no cap space is freed up for them.

    It almost isn't even fair.

    It's fair.

    Keeping Hossa longterm

Another redundant thread, but look at it this way and do the math: They have $38.2 million spent toward the 2009/2010 cap. Let's say for s***'s and giggles the cap rises to $60 million. That means they have roughly $22 million to pay Hank, Hossa, Franzen, Flip, Hudler, Samuelsson, Kopecky and a back-up goalie.

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

The cap hit for any given year is the total number of dollars divided by the total number of years. For instance, Mike Fischer signed a deal like this ... $6 mil, $4 mil, $4 mil, $4 mil, $3 mil ... that's $21 million over 5-years, with a cap hit of $4.2 mil per year, even in the years that he makes less than the $4.2 mil.

    Ken Holland on the Fan590

Sundin looking elsewhere ... could not afford it Z, mule and Flip up next ... Sundin still not certain to play ... and that's it.
  22. stillwater

    Ken Holland on the Fan590

Busiest time of year... Discussed with all in org about Hossa or Sundin etc ... Made an offer to Hossa long-term, much less than others offered ... Marian called them ... One-year agreed upon at same level as Lidstrom ...

    Holland on now.

    Detroit-Chicago

Huet is 33, he's not young. They overpaid drastically for him.

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

Bertuzzi was an UFA, it's a little different. I would be watching for the Wings to possibly move Sammy, Hudler, Lilja, Maltby or Lebda at this point. The trouble with dealing lilja is he probably took less to stay here and dealing him makes the organization look somewhat untrustworthy ... why should I take less money to stay only to have you trade me.
