It's not like Drake will be back next year. Call me crazy, but I just think some of the older guys, i.e. Drake, Draper, Maltby will really elevate their game come playoff time. This is my hope. It's his last year. He has the chance to win a Stanley Cup with the team that drafted him. From what I know of Dallas Drake, I can only believe he will play balls to the wall when it really matters.

I wouldn't want Jordan Staal. We need a proven playoff performer, not a young player having a s***ty season. He has less points than Flip and is -.
-
Thank you, sir, I needed a laugh. However, adding Lang would take some pressure off of Lillypads and Rex. There can't be 3 Lazy and Sucks players.
-
The only Thrashers game I've seen this year was when Hossa put up 3 goals against us So obviously he can score, but what about when he's not scoring? Is he the next Lang-I can score clutch goals but most of the time I am floating around like an idiot-type player? Don't flame me, I honestly don't know, I just remember a few years back thinking he doesn't know how to play any D. There are obviously certain people that can get by with their suspect defensive play due to the amount of offense they generate, but I just don't like seeing lazy players on Detroit because people like Pav and Hank work their asses off forechecking and backchecking and I hate seeing other people free-load. Also, 9-10 million? No player on the Detroit Red Wings should make more the Lids, that would be so wrong in so many ways.
-
Does he ever play with Pav? Why not shake things up a bit. If Sammy is such a "sniper" he should benefit from Pav's playmaking. Put Flip and Sammy on a line with Pav. And that frees up Homer to play with Z.
-
Markov would have to clear waivers if the Wings were to sign him, so he won't be returning. DAMN! How come Salami didn't have to clear waivers when he decided to get off his lazy ass? I was talking to some Kings fans, what about getting Cammalleri and Stuart from LA. They were suggesting Kindl, Kopecky and a #1. Get 'er done Kenny!
-
I think it has more to do with the fact that Lids isn't playing. We all saw the job effin' Sammy did on Cleary when he stood in front of the net. Homer is not gonna stand in front of the net while some Griffins rifle shots at his face, and I don't blame him!
-
Don't know if this has already been answered, but is there any way we could get Danny Markov back from Russia? I don't really understand how the transfer agreement works, could we just pay his current Russian club a lot of money or something? I miss that crazy Russian.

It's not completely unheard of that a young player doesn't continue producing the entire season. Inconsistency is the main problem with most young players. I still wouldn't trade Flip because I believe he is more of a "playoff" player anyway. He has that extra mode once playoffs start and hopefully we will see him pick it up like he did last year. I really wish we still had a "shutdown" line to put out against other teams top lines so Z and Pav didn't have to do EVERYTHING. They're expected to shutdown and score and it's starting to take its toll.

I think it would be best to save judgment until after this year and see if he can manage with the cap. I truly believe Scotty Niedermayer was the "missing piece" and the Ducks really are not even a playoff team without him. Brian Burke had absolutely NOTHING to do with Scotty going to the Ducks, he wanted his brother to win the cup and knew his brother could never do it without him. A monkey could have gotten Scotty to sign with the Ducks.

The real question is why Lebda is leading d-men in TOI

Oh god, I barely remember what Red Wings hockey look liked before Lidstrom and now after seeing it these past two games I better die before he retires! The forwards just can't get anything going, and it's not just Sammy either.
-
Flipper demoted?
-
He is. That was Burrows.
-
I love Homer!
-
Quenneville: "It's not too often you get to hit a guy like Lidstrom...sure fired the crowd up?" Anybody else hear the s***head earlier?? I STILL HATE the Dives!!!
-
I liked Flip and Cleary with Pav. I think playing with Pav really boosts the other two's confidence. Remember that Pavelesque play Flip made...I forget against whom? That was all Flip, the problem is he doesn't drive to the net like that when he's not playing with Pavel. He'll have control of the puck and instead of trying to set someone up or shooting it on net he throws it back to the D-man, which is good sometimes but I've honestly never seen it create much. Maybe Babs moved Cleary because he was getting TOO MANY points and the Red Wings were afraid of him wanting too much money... OR maybe this is all Robert Langs fault. He is LAZY and he SUCKS!

I was at the game Friday and really was not impressed by either team. Lerg and Sauer were both good but that's pretty much it. I know people will say the low score was due to the fact that both teams were playing well, but I really think it's quite the opposite. Sloppy, sloppy game that lacked intensity from both teams. I think these games come down to who wants it more and obviously State did. A little adversity for Michigan will only make them better come playoff time.

It's beginning to annoy me how other teams seem to look to Detroit and try to steal players that Detroit has put in the hard work to find. Kenny Holland needs to start dishing praise out to some really s***ty players in hopes that some ******* teams are stupid enough to draft them just because Detroit shows interest.

Abdelkader is Porter's *****. Porter for Hobey Baker!
-
Unfortunately I can only listen to the on-line feed tonight. I kind of feel bad for the Yotes, I can't imagine having to listen to the fans cheering for the opposing team in their own building.
-
Question: The Wings are playing in Phoenix tonight right? Then WHY do the cheers sound louder for Pasha's goal than they do at the Joe?
-
Does this clear up enough space for Neidermayer? Or was it next year that was the problem?
-
Detroit Free Press Are they going to be standing there ringing a bell? I can't believe people wouldn't be bothering them for autographs? Kirk Maltby will be at Sanders/Morley Candy, 16837 Kercheval Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. Aaron Downey & Jiri Hudler will be at Kroger’s, 1237 N. Coolidge Hwy., Troy. Johan Franzen & Valtteri Filppula at Sam’s Club, 27300 Wixom Rd., Novi. And Ken Holland and Mike Babcock will be at Hiller’s, 425 N. Center St., Northville. Poor Maltby, all alone.

Love 'em. I thought it was funny when we were playing Carolina, their fans were not too happy with them. Most other fans seem to think they're pretty bad. I understand that Mickey especially can get pretty excited, but it goes for both teams playing. He just doesn't like "chintzy little hooking penalties that don't belong in the game". Thought he was going to shoot the refs tonight.
