Trotz lobbying for more goalie interference calls?

Thing is, Babs doesn't call out the officials like this because Howard knows it's part of the game and deals with it. Don't think I've ever seen that guy flop around, just tries to stay strong in his crease and battle for the puck. He probably could get a lot more calls if he embellished a little like a lot of goaltenders do (lol first that came to mind is Ozzie ) but cudos to him that he doesn't, just gets on with it. Might also have something to do with the fact that Jimmy is a crazy muthafudger who likes to punch hehe

Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

Just two more, I promise. I'm personally not attacking you for "being a Predators fan with an opinion". I simply think your argument is ill-conceived and therefore needs commenting on. I sincerely hope you do, as all hockey talk is good talk and we're not for turning people away here. I think it's a little naive to say the Red Wings fans on this site are all hostile. Some may get heated in argument but that will pass and I'm sure you'll have opportunities to have good conversations with them at some point when The Wings and Preds aren't battling it out for a first round victory. As for those in the chat, they were probably just annoyed that the team they love lost. Everyone reacts differently. In fairness, I think you eventually grasped what was happening with this, but what you were thinking of here ^ was most likely 'syllables'. Easy mistake to make. I mention these two because they are trolling. Plain and simple. It's sometimes nice to have a bit of a discussion with someone, but they're way off the topic of Bert's mindgames. It was funny, and an attempt to make the Nashville players feel uncomfortable about the game at the Joe tonight. I'd expect Preds players to do the same as lets face it, sports teams aren't out to make their home an enjoyable place to come and play. Bert making it a fortress (what they like to say over here about silly soccer teams grrr I hate when they say that but it's apt). Really do hope you stick around though as I'm sure you really do like to talk hockey, and that's good in my books

Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

First off let me say this: I like to post on here, I try to daily because it's a good site for all things Red Wings, yet more than posting on here I like to pick apart people's incompetence... so I shall begin. First of all, I'll agree you came in on topic and didn't troll. Then you proceeded to troll. This post isn't about Rinne and Howard ∴ trolling - this is indeed trolling as well because you could barely stick a cigarette paper between the two. Rinne has given up 7 goals, Howard 8. They've both made good saves but have been fairly average. I don't give a damn where you come from, frankly I don't know you. That said, it's your posts make me think you're an idiot, which is fair because they're all I've got to go on. Just as you'll probably think I'm an idiot after this. That's fine, maybe one day we'll bump into each other in a bar and realise we're both awesome. However, I'm not going to tell other people to stop saying it, it's their choice. 1)Home ice hasn't been all it's cracked up to be, not just this series but ever series. It's yet to be seen whether that's a game-breaker. 2)You've obviously not been on this forum long enough if you think "Red Wings fans can't accept anything negative about their team". Obviously never seen the '[name] is lazy and he sucks' topics. 3)Tell me, in all honesty, that no Nashville fan has ever said the refs cost them a game. It's sports. This is illogical. No one in here mentioned winning cups in the 50s. They said we've won more. Which is both true and fair. If forced to be specific, most fans here WOULD simply mention the 4 since '97 as they're the ones they were lucky enough to see. What's more, they can still talk only about the ones they were alive for and the fact "we've won more" would still ring true. The last comment is trolling, which of course you said you weren't doing. Clever. The first comment is for reference below¹ The person you posed this question to has replied since so you'll know that he's only 18 and therefore was 15 when he signed up. Plus it's irrelevant. I can see YOU'VE only joined this site since the Preds had even the slightest chance in hell of beating the Wings in a 7 game series. Coincidence? Don't give me that bull. This is referencing the above post¹. To the comment "I have NEVER said the Red Wings were trash or not talented.", I retort with "ANYBODY on the Red Wings could score on the Preds and it wouldn't hold a candle to KEVIN KLEIN putting a move on your defenders and going shelf on Jimmy Howard." Somehow I think this is trashing the Wings, saying they're not talented if they can't, "hold a candle to KEVIN KLEIN". Not to mention Datsyuk robbing your defenceman and sticking it past an onlooking Rinne made them both look pretty silly. I only managed to get to this point in your posting before I had to reply. You're contradictory, and your arguments are fueled by anger, which means you post without thinking. This leads not only to fragmented arguments that can be shot down rather easily, but also IDIOCY. To quote yourself, "That's what truly makes you look dumb IMHO". EDIT: Had to put the Datsyuk goal in there... how could I not?

Crazy thoughts. Obviously shaken up by the hit more than first thought!

    Henrik Sedin suffering after hit

Tell me about it. Ridiculous that he can think the Nucks have them where they want them. Oh is that sitting on a 3-0 cushion? Man that hit knocked him loose. Kings have been far more physical, have some solid D and are throwing the weight around well and Henrik, having witnessed it all first hand, think they've been working the D over and have them in their pocket. I lol

    Bitz suspended two games

Probably also has a lot to do with the fact that this was 'boarding' whereas Weber was 'roughing'. I know it's a horrible play but I can't think of a suspension that's come as a result of a roughing call?

NHL Should Make Injuries Fair Game!

First Paragraph: I don't know you personally ∴ YOU are a commodity to me, the views of which I can care nothing about and not feel any guilt (if we are to use your logic there). Secondly I'd prefer my team to lose with dignity in the face of hard work and fair contest than win as a result of playing against teams that they've had to go out and weaken to have any chance of beating. Second Paragraph: It's idiocy. Weber's play, whilst gutless and infuriating to watch, was reactionary not premeditated thuggary which you suggest adopting. Not to mention that if the NHL legalised cheapshots yes, the vast amount of players would learn, but it would give rise to players not skilled enough to hold down a regular place in a team simply intending to injure people. If you legalise it, there will always be people doing it. Ahh why thank you

Is Playing for the Wings the same draw it used to be?

I think so. Not necessarily saying it'll be number 1, most desirable team, ad infinitum, but it has history of good management and respect and dedication to it's players. I think that when Ken Holland goes, he will choose a replacement that shares the same ethos, and that the Detroit way of doing things filters down through history. Passed on like Chinese Whispers. This isn't an organisation that is going to be sold and gutted. Just as Holland will hand over to someone hand picked, most likely so will Mike Ilitch. Basically, for all the players in the league now, this team isn't going to change it's way of doing things in their careers. It'll still scout and draft well, it'll still demand nothing less than perfection, and it'll still strive to play attractive, winning hockey with their players and fans the most important factor. Well I think so anyway

NHL Should Make Injuries Fair Game!

Presumptuous. Implies league-wide classlessness and lack of respect for other players. Is idiocy. Want my team to win by playing the better hockey, not by being lucky that Player X isn't dressed ∴ presumptuous. Not the point you're trying to make. You appear to be suggesting that the league should allow people to injury people freely. This ^ is a completely different matter. Presumptuous that all sports and all teams/organistations put winning above all else. It is a goal, yes, but not an ends to which all means are valid. Also implies that the "bettor" has some form of power in deciding the outcome of a contest but chalking that one up to poor grammar. Or to suspend players like they do now. Legalising simply means more people will do it, not less, ∴ idiocy. Ignores the consequence of injuries, namely that the standard of hockey will decline, not to mention the number of children taking up a sport that allows it's players to freely injure their teammates. Idiocy. Again shortsighted, suggests that all coaches are classless and that they want to see stars injured. On a deeper level, suggests coaches are only there to win and don't have any love for the game. Also implies coaches are open to having their own players targetted as to suggest otherwise would mean one team's players are of higher intrinsic value than another's. It is, most certainly, the opposite. Presumptuous. Implies the feeling is universal to hockey. Is idiocy. True but implied, once again, that it is universal to hockey. A player might want to cheapshot someone, but not necessarily injure. As above,IS IDIOCY. I know you are simply trolling, and that I shouldn't have replied to such an ill-devised suggestion that is both poorly articulated, and half-baked. What you've outlined is a cheap, dirty, gutless route to hollow victory that would only be grasped by a coward who would rather be gifted things in life than to work for it, and pay with the sweat off his brow, safe in the knowledge that win or lose s/he can be proud of their effort because they gave their all until the end and respected their fellow man. What you've suggested is nothing more than legal assault. You sicken me.

nashville predators keep the red out campaign

Good idea for playoff opponents, but I don't think it helps that they're divisional rivals. Even if a lot of people live there, you're still talking about a team the Wings play A LOT and which most local Wings fans would only go to see when their own team is in town. Nice idea, but bit unlucky with the whole divisional thing. Tampa would be a better idea of where it would work, with a lot of Michigan natives living down in Florida, and... you know... the whole Stevie thing. Plus I just like Tampa And their new jersey is damn cool....... unlike the Preds one EDIT: Spelling

    Blue Jackets lose lottery

Same here, primarily because when I sit at my computer in my foil hat I just plain don't trust it "What's that? SEE the lottery draw? Oh... ermm.... no we've already done it! Ahhh too bad, you should have been here 5 minutes ago. Oh by the way, you get nothing, they get it all again" hehe. Wouldn't be surprised if the league tried to 'help' one of their historically bigger franchises, but then again I'm paranoid. If they really are trying to 'do a Pittsburgh', then I hope they fail and just continue to suck. EDIT: clarification

Great effort from him all season, shame about the general team play. Last person to hit 60 and not make the playoffs... Steve Yzerman.

    Stamkos hits 60

I know. I worried a bit that he'd turn out to be a bit of a flash in the pan, especially in Tampa, but heck they love him to pieces. Saw more Stamkos billboards when I was out there than any other sport (and this was when the Rays were just knocked out the playoffs and the Bucks were starting their season prep). Put it this way, Hull is 3rd all time with 741 goals. Stamkos has 200 in four years. Another four would make him the grand old age of 26 If he stays on that pace he could have 600 by the time he's 30. Guess it all depends on how his career pans out and whether his play continues. Also I think maybe Marty St. Louis has something to do with a lot of those goals.

    Ray Emery Contract Extension

Thought I saw a lot more goalies on the free agency list, but there's really not much to pick from. Brodeur and Huet the two big names but neither going to Chicago. Better sticking with those two instead of overpaying for guys who are backups for their respective teams at the moment. Also saves trading. After all, the did what they had to and made the playoffs. Just really depends on how much more they're paying them

Wings meet Preds in First Round

Yes. Points, then ROW (Regulation+Overtime Wins/All Wins) which Nashville leads in. If we get the road game going strong then it's ours. A playoff series is far different from the regular season. All the preparation work will be working on ways to play against ONE team, not a combination of 29 others. Get game 1 right and the momentum is ours. Lets Go Wings

    Potential First Round for Wings

Best reason I've heard... I was thinking how I'd hate us to play LA, as being from England I'd have to stay up until/wake up at 3am to watch Pacific Time games. Selfish I know but hey, I want to be able to watch

Favorite Play of the 2002 Cup Run

Got me watching highlights so thanks! Just wondering though, when did the 'tradition' come in that players don't touch the conference trophies? Because in 2002 both captains raised their respective conference trophies. Wouldn't be a surprise if it was a league mandated request
  23. Wing Across The Pond

Is 6th spot a better option?

No. For all the 'easier opponant' comments that can be made there is still the potential that any series can go to 7. 4 games travelling to LA is the worst scenario of the lot

    Welcome Back Mule!

Anyone wonder what he'd be like on a lower line? Like, much lower? Not because he's a bad player but because he could really use that size playing with someone like Helm or Abby. I understand matchups and everything, but I'd love to see a game with balanced lines. For example I love Nyquist with Dats, a good young rookie with a more veteran player, then Bert who can score a few and be physical. Say Franzen was on a line with Helm and, say, Miller, that would be a line that can hit but can also score? I mean Miller's shown that much all season. I'm probably not explaining myself very well but hope it's coming across.

    4/5 GDT : Devils 2 at Red Wings 1

I lol'd. Love it! I must confess that I fell asleep last night, mid-game, and missed all goals and the shootout. I shall have a nap a few hours beforehand tonight, so as to be primed for viewing this evening Jersey is being nicely laundered also as I speak, so I can get this smelly vintage one off! Lets Go Wings
