    Vancouver sweeping the rug?

Dude wants to be a Red Wing BAD, or so it seems...

Just Say 'No' to Mikael Samuelsson

I was happy for his service to us on the bottom 6 (and that was with Val there as well, goodness we were stacked), so don't tarnish a good outing that got you a cup. Leave history be. I'm glad we've got people like Helm and Miller and Eaves in the bottom 6 so as not to need this guy back. That being said.... Hehe Campbell you suck. Plus can't hear a word of what the commentator says after the puck goes in. EDIT: Didn't actually put the video in, came up with a quote I used elsewhere

    Top 15 Nicest Players

I think Iginla would be a dude. Can see him being really nice, not shunning fans or other players or reporters and such. That being said, for off-ice niceness, didn't Vinny Lecavalier give like, a years salary to fund a children's hospital? That makes a nice guy in my book. Also Lids ALWAYS seems nice, without fail, almost to the point where he still can't believe the fame and attention he gets.

Top 8 in the West Right Now

After Alex Burrows mimed snapping his stick over his knee last night in reference to the Wing's streak being snapped... I want to play him at some point. I'd snap him. God that pissed me off for some reason, more so than the actual streak ending. Although I'd be very glad if someone like the Yotes could do it first Yet I think we need to play one of the Nucks or the Sharks to win it. I don't think a team can really have an easy ride to the finals and then expect to win it against a team who's had stiffer competition. I guess I don't want to 'coast' EDIT: Spelling

    Has Ovechkin Passed His Prime?

I agree. But I think a lot has to be said for incredibly goaltending. It seems that this season, every game has at least one highlight reel save. I mean even back-ups like Rask and our own Joey Mac have been stellar. Offense is getting harder to do, and whilst it's evident enough for people on here to question if Ovechkin is past his prime, having turned 31 in October the same can be said of one of our star forwards... but that's a different topic. I think he actually could be past his prime, after all everyone peaks at different points. You always get cases of young kids being league leaders and slowing down, whilst also getting older guys having distinctly average early careers only to explode at a later date. I mean (not entirely true as he's been great for years) but I'm sure lots of people didn't expect Dats to be getting better with each new year. Yes the vast majority of people don't peak at 26, or at 30-odd, but a few people do. I really hope he hasn't peaked as he's such an exciting player to watch, but perhaps its worth trying to trade him, both to kickstart his game and also to avoid the risk of having a player for the next 9 years who's on a steady decline. Either way he needs to change rather than the organisation or it's staff..... again.

    NHL TRADING RULES

Quick question: When are teams allowed to begin trading again after the deadline? Someone in the Quincey post said to trade Stuart after the season, but I'm sure that wont work as he's a UFA anyway? So is it the beginning of pre-season? Earlier? Later?

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

I'd like to get a cup for his worth. Might be set up to trade him, but just let him go in the summer and take a shot at someone else, thank him for his time with a second cup. And whilst a lot of people are saying a 1st is far too steep, it's not really a 1st... More like a 2nd + a finders fee for Yzerman. He's obviously a smooth negotiator. I'm sure the draft pick had a lot to do with Yzerman wanted the highest possible pick, considering he didn't really have to help out. He saw an opportunity and took it. Sorry didn't click the quote, but someone also said to trade Stuart in the off-season, which (if I'm not mistaken) cannot happen. Hence 'trade deadline'. Either trade him before the deadline or he goes out of contract. Far as I know there is no opportunity to trade him after the season.

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

I don't think he was an essential piece. Plus he wanted a change of scenery. I'm thinking of the potential backlash from some Tampa fans, if they find out that Yzerman basically went out of his way, lost a player for a pick and an average prospect, just to help his old team. I get what you mean though, but I think he got exactly what he wanted out of it, and a little more by being smart and acting as a go-between. From the looks of it, you've referenced his height and weight roughly 100 times in this thread. It's irrelevant. Chara is tall, heavy, strong, and a great player. Martin St. Louis is about 4 foot tall, 90 pounds soaking wet, and a great player. You've glossed over the entire counter argument presented to you that Quincey wasn't playing well enough to keep a place over Meech. You've mentioned that he was -12 but have made absolutely no effort to argue why Quincey was so much better. That's like me saying "Coke is great because Pepsi sucks"... when in fact they could both suck, just one a bit more than the other. From a management point of view you don't waive the better player when there is a risk either could be claimed. You attempt to waive the worse player and hope for the best. Hindsight is 20/20. But he's back. So get over it.

Wings W-L Record In Final 22?

We shall win some, we shall lose some. That is certain, but beyond that, nada

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

My friend text me and I had to rush onto here, and Twitter. He said he was in 'Quincey shock'. Stuart is what I thought of as well. Kindl is the obvious guy to move but I don't think it would return much without yet more picks and prospects. Stuart to LA, some nice player in return, rather than another role playing D man or Penalty Killer, that we already have enough of to be honest

    Joe Thornton... class act

Saw this on the NHL website. I have no idea what the point of it was but to show that Joe Thornton had another one of his classless moments. And then to make things worse, the commentary team makes the claim that Toews instigates. Please, somebody, let me know where this happens? Before, or after, Thornton's crosscheck to the back. Thornton/Toews In a lesser way, it reminds me of this also.... I mean, what the heck has this guy got against opposing captains? Captain envy?

what should our 2013 winter classic jersey look like

I own this jersey took me a while to find it though. Apparently Gordie sent him a jersey to wear (hence the name and number 9), yet the vast encyclopedia that is the World Wide Web doesn't seem to register it's existence outside the film. Apparently they never wore one with a white collar Which means mine is most likely a personal production. I did get it on ebay after all. I think it should be red (obviously) but think Toronto should wear blue as well, as someone mentioned. However don't know if I'd like a new jersey or not. I mean we don't really have a diverse history of jerseys to remodel but maybe a new one would be good. Worth reverting to the old logo though and inverting the colours? Or just pedantic?

    Joe Thornton... class act

Just to defend myself against whoever it was that basically said I was a wuss who didn't like physical hockey, that's not the case. I'm talking about why someone as talented as Joe Thornton feels the need to hit a man off the puck and cross check him a few times. Oh, and the fact that it just so happens to be the opposition's captain and star player. I just find it a bit of a cheap move. Not an overly aggressive one. Now I guess I'll have to go back to watching soccer hey?

    Anyone Ever Notice This?

My friend uses that, but for some reason refuses to come on here (set in his ways I guess). I shall inform him of his blasphemy and see that he corrects it

    Rinaldo Slewfoots Parise

Cheap move. But did you see his goal? How on earth that wasn't a penalty I don't know. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=35&id=155060

Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings

Lol some of the names I would have imagined, mainly because they're chippy and get in your face... like certain hockey players are supposed to! And surely by virtue of hating people like Probert and Chelios (probably because one gave a few blues a lickin' over the years, and the other did well to annoy and draw penalties), but surely you must then hate Chicago, as they have both had them at one point or another? The way players are shopped around these days you can't really say you hate a team because of them. And as for Dats, Howard, HASEK(?!), even Drapes... I can't really think of many people, regardless of alligence, who could say they actually HATE those players. They're all consumate professionals who've never really done anything wrong. EDIT: Not to mention, I'm sure you'd have taken any of those names off in a shot, if they had given some years to the Blues. Because they are/were all fantastic at the roles they were given in a team. Exactly

    Future retired numbers

Yzerman got one recently if I'm not mistaken? They do look pretty cool and I'd love to see them in person one day! *Can dream*. Lidstrom's #5. Then another 40 years of nothing. I'd potentially like to see #35 up there at his career's end he can be one big player in the future.

How open would you be to trading Hank?

That's it... thaat's it.... *Zetterberg lulls league/players/teams/fans/press into false sense of security, ready for post-season*

    The Todd Appreciation Station

He's had a few moves this season that gives the impression he's been starting to find his skill level again over the last few years. Obviously not as good as he was back in the day, but he's older and slower and so does well with his skill and his agility, utlising his strengths. Well done Bert. Incidentally, I actually want to call my son Bert when I eventually have one. What a darn cool name

    NHL Investigation

Isn't this a network issue rather than a league/Kings issue? All this is based on the graphics that the network provided. Surely as long as the time runs for a complete 20 minutes, and no more, in the time keepers box then it's all fine? I mean we've seen times before where teams come out to play the 2nd or 3rd period, only to play 1 second of the previous as the timers didn't match. I think it's probably all fine, but the (possibly less accurate) TV clock, was just trying to catch up with actual game clock so that the horn would sound as it hit 0:00. Funny though. Never seen anything like that before. I've always prefered sports with countdown clocks. Not like football (soccer) whereby the officials deem how much time has been wasted and then add it on accordingly. I've seen football matches where the officials indicate 3 or 4 minutes added at the end, then proceed to play 6 or 7 during which the 'bigger' team (usually Manchester Utd) score an equalising goal. Much conspiracy there amongst non-Utd fans hehe Then rugby just seems to do what it wants, in that the game ends at 80 minutes, but only when play stops - so if you need a few points to win, you've got to keep the ball in play. Quite fun, but gets crazy then they get into about the 8th extra minute.

    Sam Gagner

Or his stock just increased, and an unsuspecting team will have to part with another pick/prospect. "He shares a scoring record with Gretzky you know?!" EDIT: Hit post without actually typing anything (non-functioning brain moment), then edited it for it not to work Bad morning lol

Vancouver Sun article on why no one hates the Wings

What players didn't/don't you like? Lidstrom? Yzerman? Osgood? Datsyuk? I known I'm coming from a complete bias here, but I can't really think of many Wings players in recent history that have had cause for people to hate them. Maybe some people like Chelios and Maltby, but there were never REALLY hateable, more just annoying to oppositions.

    Toughening Up?

Ah man, looking at this again we had a good few guys that could dish out the grit. Draper was mentioned in the video who always had a pop to him, Cheli as well who was always willing to 'bend the rules' at some point or another I mean even Helm had a breakout during that post-season. A lot of bottom 6 players and some defencemen that would get gritty. Somehow I don't see that happening with Eaves, Miller and Abby Play Commodore
