    Bold predictions for the year!

Love the first part, but if the second happens, I am going to find where you live... even though you would have had nothing to do with it

Bleacher Report 50 Best Announcers/Personalities in Hockey History

Not even Milbury likes him... But if you want really bad announcers take this, seriously, seriously bad over here...

    Bold predictions for the year!

Now that I would LOVE to see. My predictions: 1) Under the influence of Commodore on the bottom line, Ericsson will become a beast with his physical play and finally unlocking the secret to using his size and strength. 2) (Not a Red Wings one) BOLD - Sidney Crosby will not play another game in 2011. VERY BOLD - Wont play another game all season, Pens miss playoffs. 3) Nik Lidstrom wins an 8th Norris and a Stanley Cup to cement his place as the games best ever defenceman and retires with honour (tear ). Replaced by Weber in the offseason (since he's now only on a year contract). My dream comes true (apart from the millions in the bank and being able to do what the hell I want as President of the World)

    Anyone else a little excited

Beat me to it. But yeah agree with the second point and video of OP, but not the first. Last time I saw, we already had a guy who did all that... ...not to mention a pretty decent back-up... That being said do hope Commie can have a good stint on that bottom line. Bring something that Salei didn't last year (who for the record, I don't think was too bad as a shutdown defenceman)

    Patrick Kane's Mouthguardian

Woah that is weird... its like a video I saw from a football (soccer) game over here, where a team celebrated, then out of thin air a fan appeared with them. Very similar. Well whilst he's chewing on it, someone will give him a hit that will knock a tooth or two loose. Then he'll wear it properly every game. It'll be a shame, but at least it'll teach his ass.

Getting to know the newest Red Wings

It's nice to hear someone talk about how the Wings are sensibly using that cap space to cement the next 5+ years, rather than splashing out for this one. It shows to people that we're not a trade/free-agency shy team, but one of the few remaining sensible ones. As for Brunnstrom, can't really say I know too much about them but do agree the Wings are great at moulding those late/undrafted people. Having said that, however, I wonder how much of his learning years are behind him already being at 26. We'll have to wait and see. He'll need to work hard, an not expect a place this year. Earn it over this year and next, and then maybe enjoy the rewards.

    Assistant Captains

After just watching a video of from last season of the Wings, it finished with Lids standing in front of Dats, Z, and Drapes, and it got me thinking... With Drapes now sadly retired (seeing all these people go makes me feel old!) do you reckon Babs will still rotate the 'A's, and if so who will get it? Its obvious to say Dats and Z will keep theirs, but who will get it when they don't? Its entirely safe to say one of those will get the 'C' when Lids sadly calls it a day - most likely Z as he has better English but I'd love to see Dats get it - so we'll need another 'A' when that happens and this season seems a good year to find out who it'll work with. As for who'll get the rotation, I'd say give it to Flip as I feel he's a good diplomat and would wear it well. If not, I'd say someone like Helm or Cleary as, like Drapes, they never really give less than 100% (well Helm sometimes) but not sure how good they'll be in a situation where they have to be the on ice leader. Don't think Kronner or Stuart would do too well but who knows. Looking back on it, we must have some great leaders on this team considering Rafalski never wore an 'A'.

Jason Williams signs 1 year contract with Pittsburgh

I don't know what everyone is knocking on? This is a fantastic signing... I mean look how he played for the Kings! You're confused I know but here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQSFDxvM6sM No kid, there are no Jason Williams hockey highlights at all, I mean what kind of player has NO highlights, especially in a career of his length so far? Oh no sorry, two pages in I get one hit... and its a good one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy6mipLizJo Plus the commentator doesn't even know who he is, calls him Holmstrom

    Assistant Captains

Very true actually, I guess he just skates so hard that he gets tired every now and then and has to skate at 'normal people speed' plus he has to compete with his performances in 2008 and 2009 when he was a beast

    Assistant Captains

This is the sort of thing that would make me worry about having Kronwall having an 'A', but the quote someone posted above seems to suggest that at least the players believe he's progressing with his leadership.

    Your Favorite Red Wing Player

    1) Who is your favorite Detroit Red Wing player overall to wear the Red Wings Logo? Yzerman (seems to be a theme emerging) or Hasek (as I love goalies) 2) Who was your favorite Detroit Red Wing player that joined the red wings? (Non drafted by Wings, could be threw Trade / FA / Waiver etc...)Even though I said Hasek before, has to be Danny Cleary 3) Which current player would you dream of them joining the Wings?Shea Weber. Strangely enough a few years ago it would have been Mike Modano Thinking about it properly, I'd have to throw Iginla in there as well, such a classy guy, big strong body, a leader, and a goalscorer. Could do really well on this team 4) Which are the players that really "hurt / bugged" you when they left the Red Wings to join another team? Bugged: Hossa because he just Cup-jumped, bit unclassy but man wanted a cup. Hurt (through fault of management not player): I know he wanted to stay, but after that it'd be Aaron Downey as he had a great season with the Wings, then wasn't given another chance. Plus as far as I know he didn't join another team? 5) Is there a player that you never wanted him on the team ... but eventually joined the team? Hmm not sure as I'm always welcome for players to join the Wings, but after his first stint, it might be fair to say bringing back Bert left me confused. That being said, boy done good Also thinking back on it, why the hell was Sean Avery ever in Detroit?!

Are you addicted to the Red Wings?

Don't know if I should tell you this, but I share a birthday with Kronner didn't know it was Hossa's too though...

Why the Detroit Red Wings are headed for a fall

I don't get why the article seems to think Lidstrom, or Dats, or Z, were good because they were scouted and drafted? Without the Wings organisation training these people year after year, it is the equivalent of an inventor creating the world's more dynamic and ground-breaking invention, then leaving the plans on paper and never putting in the hard work to actually make it. Although top draft pick will get players like Ovi or Crosby, that can well be a mention in the game's best, dedication and hard work in training make champions, a la Lids. Stevie Y could have been THE greatest, but his training (coaches getting on his back to help out on D if I'm not mistaken) helped him lead a team to 3 Stanley Cups, win a Conn Smyth, and become the greatest captain for any hockey team.

NHL Comparisons for The Mighty Ducks characters

Strangely though, in D3, the same actor was the Varsity netminder. I know its highly unlikely, but have there been any goaltenders that were former-forwards?
  15. Wing Across The Pond

NHL Comparisons for The Mighty Ducks characters

Even though its not quite the same position, with him being GM and all, but I'd say Stevie Y for Bombay, that sort of talented player, never gives up, promotes smart hockey, moral, good natured and that every body gets along with. The sort of person that everyone in the hockey world seems to like. Plus those dreadful knees. Wolf = Milbury. Bit of a goon from player to bench. Great thread. Mighty Ducks is my childhood

    Brett Lebda traded to Nashville

Perhaps they're anticipating a move from the Wings for Weber, and their only stipulation would be to include Lebda in the deal. That way Holland would be forced to withdraw his trade offer

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012

    Jonathan Ericsson Appreciation Thread

When he arrives at the rink, someone should ****** those sunglasses off his face, throw them to the floor, and tread on them. He seems to be all image and glamour.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Very hypocritical. Don't know if anyone saw this from NHL.com today either... I know they never fought, but anyone remember Joe Thornton in game 4 last year?

Thanks For the Great Season, Wings!

We showed real heart at the end. These last few games have been some of the best they've played in a few years. Lets hope we build this into a great season next year. I love my Red Wings

    Howard......

Whilst Niemi makes big, good saves, he's too much flash and not enough stability. That was kind of what Howard was like last year, but now has the experience to be a strong goaltender. Glad to have him.

    Datsyuk or Thornton

During this series on TSN, they were talking about Ovie being the second best in the league still (behind Crosby), and how many of them thought it was still the case. Everyone said no, that Dats was now the second best - I think he's better than Crosby so take that for what you will. Then again everyone brings something different.
