I'm not too great with all the tactics and selections and stuff with hockey as I'm from UK (dont really get much hockey here... and its all mickey mouse) so all I know if stuff I read on here and just little hunches I get from watching TV. So heres just a suggestion to help 2nd line scoring, let me know what you think and give your own ideas for how we can change it up (dont just have to be scoring changes). Basically I think that we drop a 1st line scorer down, would have to be Homer, and push up someone from 2nd line. Sorta like this: Z-Dats-Cleary Hudler-Draper-Homer Maltby-Flip-Sammy/Franzen Downey-Kopecky-McCarty/Drake I just think this way Homer can help out on the 2nd line and we dont lose much on the 1st... plus this season I think that would be our best 1st line. Let me know what you all think!

was going to say... rafalski is better than schneider last year and think he offers more with a right hand shot. Better team than last year. People just panicking because we're on a slide with a 1/3 of the squad out. We'll be fine

I think Holland did alright... I just think people are still at him for the Bertuzzi thing last year (I myself was never a fan of Bert) but Stuart is a good get-guy. I mean apart from the now annoyingly infamous Hossa trade... what over big trades were there this year? I mean there were trades, but not many big ones. I think Holland came off good.

The thing is... everyone seems to forget that the playoff aren't even next month... they're two calander months away. What if we got Hossa and he went cold (like he seems to do) during the playoffs? Flipp may pick up his game come post-season and (touch wood) all our injuries will be healed. I think with the addition of Stuart the best D in the league just got a little stronger and I'm happy with that. Theres no point us bitching and whining cos we just need to sit pat and wait. If we get a good result today, get a second liner on the scoresheet then confidence will rise a little. Then who knows how our season will go? Doms back tonight... that will take some pressure off Ozzy and should restore some faith in whatever D is left ( ). We just have to get the season over with and support the guys... especially people like Sammy (although I wish he'd drop down the lines myself) as they're the people who need it the most at the mo. We know he can get shots on net and we need to support him every game. If we get a good result tonight then our form should pick up but we need some hard work and support! The playoffs aren't here yet... just need to keep going. GO WINGS!

Im glad at least we good a proved D-man... beats having to call up unproven kids and putting all the pressure on the goalies... but looking at how some of the other trades went i would have liked to see a little more.... but Stuart is a good trade in my books. On another note... in reply to the first comment (although it does look as though Holland was playing it safe after last year) I was thinking, what would Steve have done if he were GM? Anyone recon he might be there one day??

A lot of what you said made me laugh (DARREN F*CKING MCCARTY!!! for one hehe) but in all fairness at this point in time i have to agree with you... Holland is sitting doing nothing and we need something to happen FAST! Just hopes he's waiting just to shock the world with the biggest trade on the year! (wishful thinking huh?)

Can you imagine him, Dats and Z in the 1st line.... class, and then with Homer dropping down to 2nd it could give some much needed scoring.

in the past (especially remember it last season) the biggest problem was the fitness of the D. I remember Schneider injured... and also Lilja (although I actually like him) dallying on the puck instead of clearing it against anaheim. we need Lids and Rafalski BIG TIME in the playoffs if we wanna mount any sorta push for the cup. Plus i think Babcock will have to ditch the rotation of the goalies and just focus on one. If he chooses Ozzy then i think it will give him some real confidence and get the best performances. feel free to come back at me.

can i just say... im probably not an expert on the matter.. in fact not even close.... but didnt goalies used to play without masks if i remember rightly? ok that was dangerous and all but a mask was developed and it was crap... geez i'd love to see some of the goalies now try to wear something like that! A second point.... what about other skaters, not just goalies, who block shots... i dont see many D-men complaining when they get hit with a puck or worse hit by a 200+ pound man skating at them. Just because a goalie's decisions can maybe change a game they want the biggest advantage possible.

Couldn't agree more... there needs to be at least one guy there who can just go up to a player after a big hit and say... "why don't you try that on me huh?"... it would build such a great team spirit!

Good player though... for someone so young. But yeah with the stick salute... would be nice but better to think of something original. Maybe include something that not many other places have got... like the playoff banners or something... could point at them like they point to the bleachers in baseball before a homerun.... or is that just lame? I dunno... but maybe if they think of something of their own it would be cool to watch and may attract the crowd.

I was soo gutted. i watched the beginning of full length highlights (I live in UK) but i missed the fight because of my other half..... but i still love her! Does anyone know where i can see it? Cos i was sooo happy when i heard about it i make my gf jump when i cheered. Good to see Downey finally getting involved more and showing passion for his team and players! keep it up! May be that hes a right handed shooter or that hes just younger.... but I think Raf brings more than Schneider did (and still does for the ducks)

i think thats about right... players like Franzen haven't really done enough to impress me this season and so would be a good bargaining chip in a deal like this.... good call!

I chose other for a number of reasons... as has been established, Dats has the "A" but I dont think he's as natural a leader as say Hank to get the "C", Lids will probs stay for a few more years so I would wanna give it to someone younger so thats Draper out of the picture but the main problem with Hank (although he probably will get the "C") is that theres no guarantee he'll play all the games... I mean we know that he's pretty injury prone these days (had a few spells out this season with his back) and so I've got to ask would it be worthwhile (and I want to know if this has ever been done before) to have a rotating "C" like they've done with the "A"s this year? Just a thought you know.....

Seeing this has just made my season... I mean sure I always notice when they lose (its one of the results I look out for) but I never actually realised how poorly they were doing. Have to admit though they'll still make the playoffs and thats where they're at their best. But this poor run is good news for me, a fan in England with a population of ice hockey fans who all seem to support the Ducks because of the Disney films (although the kids seem to play better than the actual team). Just thought I'd get that little rant off my chest.
