I don't know why all the other threads got moved, just for a new one to be created and then pinned... they all have basically the same source and the same content... couldn't this all have been condensed into one thread?

^ is more than fair -

They're just waiting to see how much Nick signs for first, so they can figure out how many Hot N' Ready's need to be sold to cover their extensions as well Seriously though, I think it's just a formality by this point...

People seem to forget that he only made 1.5... that is an INSANE bargain for what he gave us, now if they want to spend that 1.5 + other cap space to get something more, fine... but for that price... I'd take him over anything else we can get at 1.5... oh... and... HO'KAY

Although your reasoning is solid, I think your pairings are off - Stuart has proven most effective as a number 3-4 d-man and Kronwall is the heir apparent, so I think he should play along with Lids for at least a full year and the same dynamic applies: Lidstrom-Kronwall Stuart-Rafalski Ericsson-UFA/Lilja/Kindl UFA/Lilja/Kindl

In his prime or not, he's still an elite NHL defenseman and ONE of the best, whereas in his prime, he was THE best, bar none TOP 10 Scorers From Last Year D Mike Green WSH - 5.25mil D Duncan Keith CHI - 5.5mil D Drew Doughty LA - 3.475mil (still on entry level - this is with bonuses) D Dan Boyle SJ - 6.67mil D Chris Pronger PHI - 6.25mil D Tobias Enstrom ATL - 3.75mil D Sergei Gonchar PIT - 5mil D Nicklas Lidstrom DET - ? D Mark Streit NYI - 4.1mil D Tomas Kaberle TOR - 4.25 mil To suggest that he deserves a penny less than 5 million with this comparison in mind, is downright insulting. EDIT - He deserves whatever he wants and although I'd be elated if he took less on his own accord, we should not expect it, nor do we have ANY right to be angry if he does not - he has earned this and DESERVES it.

Can a mod please just leave this thread here and let it be... if you keep moving them, new ones are just going to keep popping up... if anything, move the old ones back and merge them with this thread, then when it goes official later today/this week, just change the title and lock it. Agreed, but until it becomes official, for all we know, it will be closer to 5....

With us already most likely to be tapped out on roster spots, his age and other players in the system coming up on waiver ineligibility sooner (Mursak, Emmerton, etc...) I HIGHLY doubt it would come next year, or even within the following 2 years... I wouldn't COMPLETELY rule it out if he absolutely sets the AHL ablaze, but I just don't see him seeing any time with the big club until at LEAST 2012... EDIT - Excluding pre-season/training camp obviously
-
well, both will be qualified, so unless one or both are signed to offer sheets... they will both be back... I think they will have to fight in camp with a UFA 4th line guy and one of Ritola/Miller/Eaves will then be traded or waived and sent down, with my guess leaning strongly towards Miller, Ritola or the UFA signing, as I really think Eaves solidified his spot on the team... back to topic at hand though - although not horribly shocking, this is amazing news about Lids!

http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65422 The league is not operating within it's means and will doom itself - just watch.

Tatar, Nyquist and Smith are the 3 I will be watching the closest this year... I think those 3 have a great chance of becoming very good NHL players - obviously Ritola and Kindl are NHL bound, so we'll see a lot more of them first hand... All and all, I think we have a great amount of skill in the pipeline and these ratings seem pretty fair...

The cap is expected to go up to 57.7 and if you had to guess what the 2010-2011 roster would look like (not what you would do) but what team Holland and co. will actually ice for next year - what do you think it will end up looking like? (lines are arbitrary) - this is not a line combo thread, put them together however you'd like and please do not argue line combo's - My guess is: Jiri Hudler ($2.875m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($2.500m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.500m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.900m) / Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) Mattias Ritola ($0.517m) OR Drew Miller / Darren Helm ($1.000m) / Patrick Eaves ($0.750m) Kris Draper ($1.583m) Nicklas Lidstrom ($5.500m) / Brian Rafalski ($6.000m) Brad Stuart ($3.750m) / Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) Jonathan Ericsson ($0.900m) / Andreas Lilja ($1.000m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) Jimmy Howard ($0.717m) / Chris Osgood ($1.417m) ROSTER: 22; PAYROLL: $57.330m; CAP ROOM: $0.370m BONUSES: $0.000m EDIT - EDITED for bottom 6

the pun wasn't actually intended, but actually.... haha

You mean until the KHL folds in a few years due to bankruptcy...
-
That is the biggest insult you could ever give to Cory Cross to put him in the same category as Matt Cooke.
-
That defense is by no means bad...
-
well played...

I completely understand the situation, but the Joe has got to go... it is easily one of the most dilapidated and over-crammed venues in professional sports - It was built to hold WAY less people and the bathrooms, concessions, etc can't handle the load, not to mention the seats are uncomfortable, the "luxury" boxes are above the nose bleed section and it's in a pretty crap area in the city (not necessarily crime, but location in relation to local bars, etc) I love tradition and don't want a corporate name either, but if it means getting them in a new venue, team up with a major corporation and give them naming rights for a chunk of change to build it...
-
what an f'in joke... no excuse for ANY team that has already been in in it to get another one before the other 24 teams that have yet to participate in one... What a mickey mouse league......... I will not tune in and I suggest everyone else boycott it as well, hopefully the ratings take a sharp dip...
-
hahaha perfect.
-
Why can't they poach a d-bag like Matt Cooke?
-
I still think he will stay in the NHL... say what you want about the guy, but he's a competitor and wants to seems to want to win at the highest level
-
I think he would be interested in Maltby... league min contract for a PK'er who can mentor younger players, plays with a ton of heart and is a true professional and also would add veteran leadership with 4 rings... I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this happened... I always use the phrase "piss in your wheaties" but from now on, on this board... it will be "piss in your chelios"
-
Agreed - I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL, to potentially see both Kozlov and Maltby on the Lightning's roster, come start of camp...
