looked damn good for an old fart last night, haha
-
wow, at the time, I was so pumped about the goal I didn't even notice this and when I saw Hank go down, I just thought he lost an edge... VERY dangerous play and complet lack of honor on Yandle's part... should have been a penalty for sure...
-
as long as it's not that d-bag LaRue, I'm happy...
-
I agree... I've been uneasy as hell all day... I think I'm going to need a beer as soon as I get home just to calm down...
-
Dead on... if he were to come here for a discounted amount (6.5 mil or less a season) I would personally roll out the red carpet... he's an elite talent and would instantly improve any team he is on... With that said, that team will not be the Wings for monetary reasons alone...
-
Lets not look ahead of ourselves, we're not even out of the first round and if they play like they did last game, they won't be doing anything but golfing this off season... they need a big effort tonight...
-
Fair enough, but I'm sure a whole group of people could come up with something in this same vein, while adjusting where needed... see eva unit zero's suggestion - I could get on board with that one as well... the point is, something has got to give, the current system is horrible and needs to be fixed - BADLY
-
distance is not that drastic via plane and you also don't have to stop over at customs for international air travel regulations...

 :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :hysterical:

I could not agree more! This has been one of my biggest problems with the league for a long time... it's just one of the many inconsistencies that make it a fringe sport and not a powerhouse... new fans can't follow it, because they'll be like "wait, I thought that was a penalty" or "wait, I thought that was ok" and you have to respond, dejected... "yes... it's the mickey mouse way the league is run..." and instantly it loses credibility...

Trotz has had a lot less to work with year in and year out... he is finally starting to get some solid talent and they are finally starting to become competitive annually... Now, if the Preds can't get past the 1st round next year, then it might be time to start evaluating him as well...
-
hell, even a Montreal v. Boston ECF would be amazing... ECF: Montreal v. Boston WCF: Detroit v. Chicago that would be amazing... very unlikely, but it'd be amazing...
-
I could definitely get on board with this too... the point is, something needs to drastically change...
-
Same here... the East is a joke with their travel schedule and relative imbalance of talent... all the more reason we need a re-alignment... http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63908

Well I think it stings the same, if any team were to win it out of the east, I would rather it be Boston - the Bruins have been my favorite EC team forever... With that said, I would LOVE the Wings to have a chance to get a rubber match with Pit, however, we need to get out of the 1st round for that to even be a possibility and tonight is NOT going to be easy...
-
they're playing really well right now... I also wouldn't write off Boston, Rask is in a zone and as we all know... a hot goalie can throw a monkey wrench in everything...
-
Here's to some positive juju - The away team has won more games than the home team this series and the Wings HOPEFULLY will bounce back like they have in the past from a horrible game to take care of business in game 7.
-
tonight's the night... let's keep the trend in this series going and stay on the West coast to meet the Sharks!
-
Agreed - he hasn't done a horrible job, but there are a lot of sticking points - The way he handled the Afinaganov situation - Poor line management - Inability to get them over the hump All and all, what it comes down to is that in this league, if you don't win it all, it's time to chance and like you said he's been there for a LONG time and won nothing... time for a change.
-
The chance to play in a better league and a better living situation are my SOLE reasons... Agreed... I would like to see him here, but not for anything over 4 and obviously that would only be in the event that the unfathomable occurred (Lids hanging them up)
-
How is this the first thread about this? This is a HUGE upset, especially considering Philly was a SO away from not even making the postseason...
-
If you remember correctly Hossa WAS offered not 8, but 9 mil for 9 years... in Edmonton... even though I'm bummed he left, I at least respect that he wants to win and took less to go somewhere he thinks he'll have a chance (same reason he came here first) - just because someone takes less, doesn't mean they couldn't get more... I still think Holmstrom is a top 6 guy and his ability to work down low and get in front, HELPS those more talented players around him... now, I will actually agree with you that there could be a better winger for that line, just because I don't like Holmstrom and Franzen on the same line anyway, as I'm from the mindset of breaking up the big bodies/net front presence's, but that doesn't mean he's not a top 6, just because he's not a top 3... I would actually like to see Bert(provided that Babs can burn it into his head to shoot and not try and pass all the time) with Dats and Franzen for now and Holmstrom with Z and Fil... the economy actually took a surprising step back in the right direction sooner than expected...
-
I'm not going to waste my time searching through your posts from this season - you lambasted in him in the off season and OFTEN said he should be on the 4th line and/or was one dimensional all year... Holmstrom plays a legit 12-15 minutes a night, night in and night out... 6 for Z is not "fair market" he's a point per game guy and INCREDIBLY defensively responsible, not to mention a playoff machine... he could have EASILY got 8+ on the market and Dats as well, and you're crazy if you think otherwise... Samuelsson wasn't home grown, doesn't apply... as for Hudler, he made a money grab and he's young... it wasn't a long term deal and he's coming back, so this is pretty moot as well... I love my Wings through and through, but am able to be objective as well... try and find another 30 goal scorer that will take that net front abuse for 2 mil a year... try it and just SEE how many teams would JUMP at a chance to pay him 2 mil to play for them.... it IS a discount and he DOES his job. period.

Postseason - 6GP, 2G, 2A, 4PTS, +3 You've knocked him ALL year... your bias is affecting your objective reasoning... Loyalty allows you to sign a Zetterberg and Datsyuk for about 6 a year, when they would get 8 elsewhere, loyalty allows you to sign a Stuart for 3.75, when he would get 4.5 elsewhere after a cup run, loyalty allows you to sign a Holmstrom in his PRIME for 2.5, when he would get 4 elsewhere... the fact you even have to ask how it allows for us to continue to be a perennial contender is a joke

I'm in this boat...
