Should the Wings part ways with Osgood?

can you please just admit that you are trying to get a rise out of everyone... there's no way you can possibly even believe this yourself... this is seriously the single most asinine suggestion that has been on this board in a long time...

    Playoff Superstitions?

I'll be growing a pretty mean beard... I kept it cleaned up and shaved next beard/cheekbones in 08 and we won... last year I let it run wild and well... so this year, I will grow the beard again, but I will keep it clean

Should the Wings part ways with Osgood?

Are you high?!? Price is going to get at least 2.5 mil on his next deal and Howard has been STELLAR...why would he back up? Add that to the fact that you want to give up a NOT EVEN PRIME Flip AND a pick... there's not an ounce of logic behind this thought... this is easily one of the most hair-brained suggestions I have ever read on this board and there have been a lot of them...

Shanahan to be new NHL disciplinarian?

agreed... everyone may not agree with every punishment handed down/not handed down, it's the inconsistency that is so hard to handle and makes it look like such a second class league...

Should the Wings part ways with Osgood?

I hate polls like this, because they don't take into account all the factors - he was signed after 35, so if we cut ties, we're sucking up cap space to make a player go away... he has had an OBVIOUSLY positive impact on Howard and one more year backing up Howard can't hurt... after his contract is up, let him retire a Wing, with 400 wins, on his own terms and go out right... he has been a professional and done a lot for this team and deserves it.

    Ville Leino Appreciation Thread

I love what he's done for us by going away and freeing up a roster spot for a legit NHL player... does that count?

Shanahan to be new NHL disciplinarian?

CALLED IT - http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63856&st=20&p=1923635&hl=dryden&fromsearch=1entry1923635 Now to just get Dryden in as commissioner and we're good to go...

Who Will Babcock Rest This Week?

There are only 3 games left, I don't foresee Osgood starting again, or any of the vets resting over that time, unless someone is banged up...

    Did everyone else's heart stop?

There doesn't have to be all or nothing... simply face washing a guy, getting in his face and dropping the mitts would suffice... Bert has obviously learned a lesson, paid his debts and moved on, give the guy some slack...

    Did everyone else's heart stop?

First when Fil went into the boards on the cheapshot and then again when Franzen blocked the shot off his foot... I almost stopped breathing... scary stuff... In a semi-related note, how does Fil get run from behind on a play like that and Methot NOT get taken out... I love our team and I'll take skill over grit and do NOT want this turned into an enforcer thread, but come on guys, stand up for your teammates! Bert... I'm looking at you...

    Lilja & Stuart

Everyone has lapses... take the good with the bad, they are both damn good d-men and I will take their mental lapses here and there for all they BOTH bring that FAR outweighs it... not everyone will be Lidstrom.

Is it covered anywhere that this is truly an official site? I am a little skeptic...

    Hudler done with dynamo

Downie from TB - 46 pts in 75 games, getting about 16-17 minutes a game Clarkson from NJ - 21 pts in 40 games, getting about 13-14 minutes a game both are RFA's at seasons end and would likely need to be traded for (Kenny will not sign an offer sheet), but one of them plays the game with honor and is a good locker room guy... I'd take Clarkson over Downie... esepcially since he will likely cost less to fill a 3rd line role - we do not really need any guys that expect top 6 minutes...

Aaron Ward=More Longevity than Gordie Howe?

Very impressive indeed... to crack the NHL pre-conception is a hard thing to do and takes a great deal of skill, especially to stick around during those formative developmental years when most of us are battling puberty. Well done Aaron! :beerbuddy:

I see what you did there... remember the date everyone... he's messing with you...

    Hudler done with dynamo

Downie is a cancer and a sorry excuse for a human being and so is Avery... want to add Cooke and Pronger as well?

Ville Leino 1/3 of Philly's offensive unit

Your man love is clouding your judgment... one hot streak is an anomaly, not a constant... especially when he was playing for a contract... Once again, I'm not saying any of this to be complete undeniable fact or that I can see the future - it is MY prediction and also, ONCE AGAIN, if he ever proves me wrong, feel free to rub it in my face... but I am pretty confident that day will never come.

    Hudler done with dynamo

Once again... points win games and Hudler can score. Period. With that said, the only way I'd move him would be for Clarkson in NJ, he's shown tons of potential to really develop into a power forward capable of 50 pts a season and can also add that "snarl" at most likely a reasonable cap hit... furthermore, from all reports, he's a great locker room guy and would be an amazing fit on the 3rd line, possibly even developing into more... also, with Hudlers value, we might even be able to get a pick along with Clarkson...

    Hudler done with dynamo

I agree 100% - I actually said earlier this was based purely on the thought that Holmstrom is hanging them up, if he's back, I think Bert is let go and then basically plug Holmstrom in, in that scenario.

    Hudler done with dynamo

Story just said they were in talks... until it's finalized, I wonder how serious it is... his body takes an absolute BEATING... I hope I'm wrong to be honest, I'd love for him to be back next year

    Hudler done with dynamo

Agreed... if he is coming back, it HAS to be by July 1st... also, I was pretty sure that he had an out clause... could be wrong... as far as pure toughness, replacing Holmer with Abs and Williams with Hudler is a better comparison - but basically same point, still pretty much a wash.
