thank you, I really tried to remove my Red Wing love and look at it from every team in the leagues best interest, while keeping things even between cost and frequency of travel, as opposed to the current system which drastically favors the East in terms of travel

that's where we can add one of the flex games

I send the NHL a resume at least once a year, haha :beerbuddy:
-
yea, no kidding... I've always thought Pang was great...
-
Pierre McGuire is to the NHL what Tony Kornheiser was to the NFL... at least the NFL wised up...

I don't think there will be major splashes, I think he will take a considerable discount over the next one year contract and again if he comes back for yet another year (crossing fingers), but I think we'll spend that cap space next year with another scorer and leave a little left over... then when the unspeakable finally comes, I think we'll use that remaining cap to give Kronwall the raise he deserves to keep him and spend the rest on a 2nd pairing d-man depending on Ericsson/Kindl/Smith's development... Realistically - in 2013, I see our D being something along the lines of: Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson/Kindl-(Acqusition) Ericsson/Kindl-Smith/(Acqusition)

this to the tee. dead on. The hit from Richards on Booth was a blindsided cheap shot and BS - This was a clean HOCKEY hit and ALL Booth's fault... you do not enter the zone with your head down and expect not to get laid out... to take it even further, it looked to me like Spacek actually held up a little at the end once he realized Booth was vulnerable and could have went THROUGH him, rather than just hit him. to sum it up - Beauty of a hit by Spacek and hopefully Booth is ok...

Leave it on the ice, or take it outside... security really needed to stop this, but people who fight like this at a sporting event are ******* - if you can't cheer your team on like ADULTS, stay home. period. Just on the fight alone - yes unfair, yes stupid for the Ducks fan not walking away in someone ELSE's arena WHILE on lower ground... idiots.

The day Bettman kicks it will be worthy of a national holiday...

I just popped into this thread for a quick laugh... wanted to compare when it was started to now... funny stuff...

Does babcock have a shot at the Jack Adams Award
stevkrause replied to RainingBlood's topic in General
He's deserved it every year... but you really can't argue with what Dave Tippett has done in PHX... As for the Masterson, I think Lilja deserves to at bare minimum be nominated and in my mind, deserves it more than anyone in the league right now... a full year out of hockey and then to be as effective as he has... big stuff... -
you clearly replied before my first edit look again... I was more just filling it out and lining teams up and kinda missed that, so I corrected it... look again!

I'm in the mindset that all teams should travel equally and I would split it basically on a North East to South West type bend and then separate it back into Wales and Campbell Conferences and divisions, spread out original 6 teams, one per division, 3 per conference, equal West Coast teams split per conference - EVERYONE TRAVELS WALES CONFERENCE ADAMS DIVISION Edmonton Vancouver Calgary San Jose Montreal PATRICK DIVISION Minnesota Toronto New York Islanders Buffalo Colorado HOWE DIVISION Columbus Nashville St Louis Detroit Ottawa CAMPBELL CONFERENCE SMYTH DIVISION New York Rangers Philadelphia Washington Florida Tampa Bay NORRIS DIVISION Anaheim Los Angeles Phoenix Dallas Chicago ORR DIVISION Boston Pittsburgh Carolina Atlanta New Jersey Everyone travels, all teams have ABOUT equal travel all the way around In Division games - 5 games a team = 20 games Out Of Division/In Conference - 3 games a team = 30 games Opposite Conference - 2 games(home and home) = 30 games 2 flex games against opposite conference, geographic relevance/rivalry games = 2 games 82 game schedule. EDIT - I realize that Chicago and Montreal get boned the most on travel IN division, but put it in perspective, only 10 games of these 20 against these teams will be on the road and it could be part of a west coast swing... also, all other teams in the division, essentially have to make the swing at least 5 times a season, plus the extra 2 or 3 for out of conference, so it comes very close to evening out... it still screws them less than the current schedule screws quite a FEW teams (Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota, Columbus, Nashville, etc...)

the chicken, with a side of death to Bettman?

I actually don't see Stuart wearing a letter because of how soft spoken he is... On that note, I strongly disagree with your other statement - I see Stuart retiring a Red Wing. He and his family have made it very clear they want to stay somewhere where they can set roots and with how the organization handles its players, the way the team is ALWAYS competitive and the fact that he seems very happy and at home here, all signs point to him being a long timer... Also, lets all CROSS OUR FINGERS that we have Lidstrom for at least 2 more years, at which time Rafalski's contract will be up as well and I assume he will hang them up at that time too and I'm guessing Draper retires after the 2011 season... so basically, there will be a pretty drastic changing of the guard so to speak in 2012 and I think the obvious choices will be: C - Zetterberg A - Datsyuk A - Kronwall as others have said, I think the 3 rotating A's is basically only out of respect to Draper when everyone knows that Z and Dats are the clear ones right now and with Kronwall's maturation, the fact he is a home grown guy and his overall solid play, he appears to be the obvious choice to me... I don't think NA vs. European matters to the Wings brass when making these choices and thus is irrelevant.

like I said, I voted no, but close, but I'll GLADLY be wrong if he does... he looked the best he ever has tonight! Go Val!
-
another solid night, +1, looked confident, made the simple/smart plays and kept the front of the net clear...

I cannot in any way, shape or form justify causing that and for that I can only apologize, my deepest, heartfelt apologies! haha

exactly... also T-Ruff: glowing puck instigator rule conference re-alignment trapezoid unbalanced schedules ANY mention of not participating in the Olympics still want more?

Want to tell me how he's been good for the league? Just because they're turning a profit, doesn't mean that they couldn't be doing WORLD'S better... there should have been a cap awhile ago, but even that was done wrong and they NEVER should have lost a season due to a LOCK OUT... he has alienated it's core base while chasing fringe fans, forced teams into poor markets and making the stronger teams bail them out, done a HORRENDOUS job marketing his product and/or putting the proper people in place, discipline is a joke and there is no consistency, the All-Star game has become a travesty, the TV deal, shall I go on??????

best use of photoshop ever.

that one made me lol

this. he's not going to ever be the type to make huge open ice hits, but he has been really good along the boards and most importantly, in front of the net... He has looked really comfortable with Lils and I really hope Lils is back for another couple years and that stays our 3rd pairing...
