haha, obviously this topic is made in jest... but basically the point I think we're all getting at here, is that he needs to be removed and probably at least suffer on some level for what he has done! sorry for making you say anything in his favor, my SINCEREST apologies, haha

ok... maybe death is too far, but if the only option is death for him or more Bettman, which would you choose? If I had it my way, they would make Dryden the commissioner, keep Campbell as one deputy commissioner overseeing game operations, then split the duties and make Shanahan another deputy commissioner in charge of discipline and finally, bring on Paul Tagliabue as an outside consultant from a business/operations standpoint... That would be a well run league and I guarantee some drastic improvements in the game/league.

I voted no, but close, just because a point per game clip is hard to do... at the same token, I wouldn't be surprised if he did it with the way his line is playing and as long as he stays with Z...
-
Kronwall speaks English really well and plays the game right... he's got the natural leadership abilities too and I think that matters more than country of origin... the only NA who might get a nod would be Rafalski, but even he's only going to be here for a couple more years too...
-
exactly. I think by the time Lidstrom retires, Draper will be gone as well, which means we will have a new "A" as well... I think the obvious choices moving forward are: C - Zetterberg A - Datsyuk A - Kronwall

As someone else said - not true. Case - Goodell in the NFL The NHL needs to reach out and try and get Dryden in there...

Patrick Eaves still out for Red Wings; Dan Cleary remains questionable

I wouldn't mind Meech coming back at a league minimum next year... he's actually been a serviceable plug when needed -
I think it's more a matter of those 3 lines just clicking better now... looked good last night and it shouldn't change much when healthy... also, to add to this thread, Ericsson looked solid last night, smart with the puck and good positionally... like I've said all along, Lilja is just the steadying force he needs...
-
The longer he can stay in college the better for us, we don't want years to start counting against his eligibility until we absolutely have to... rather him develop in college than the AHL for now...
-
oh, I don't think Bert reacted weakly/wrong... I just would have liked to have seen it, haha
-
I just really wish Bertuzzi would have just come over and layed him out...
-
It's more a matter of your own personal opinion... it's not all about stats, it's about intangibles... even at E's worst this year I'm still soundly in the opinion of: Ericsson>Meech>Lebda and have been all year
-
10 games left and realistically only a 3-4 pt buffer from being out of the playoffs... not good for them... Boston and Montreal could really use this to jump up in the standingand Atlanta or New York a chance for a berth...
-
A. Then you should know the correlation to coming off a kill when used as a penalty killer and +/- being affected B. I was just stating that E's partners were not complimentary to his style, which will skew HIS numbers, not saying that Lebda WASN'T playing with the same guys... C. I'm not the one slinging insults around, about a topic on a message board... once again, all those stats are moot anyway when considering the fact he has been with Lils since the break and looked good - I'll be the first to admit that he had a weak first half, but once again - ROOKIE Since the break, with the same partner, these are the only stats that matter to me: Ericsson - GP G A PTS +/- SHOTS HITS 5 0 0 0 -1 3 5 Lebda - GP G A PTS +/- SHOTS HITS 5 0 1 1 +1 4 2 and once again....... You want to tell me how that has been so glaringly different to justify playing a peaked, waste of a roster spot like Lebda (who will not be here next year) over a ROOKIE with tons of upside who will HOPEFULLY be a mainstay on our back-end for the next decade or so?
-
Disagree - that's at least an extra 3-4 shifts a game and add that to the fact that E was killing penalties... how many hockey games have you watched? there are QUITE a few goals scored AFTER a powerplay is over, but the puck is still in the zone and PK'ers are tired... occupational hazard... I think the numbers are skewed, especially considering the partners E had prior to the break
-
Where are you getting your stats? That may be TOTAL minutes, but E missed a few weeks with an injury... Numbers don't lie ATOI Ericsson - http://espn.go.com/nhl/players/stats?playerId=3355 17:16 Lebda - http://espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3027 15:03

for the millionth time said on this board - ROOKIE there are going to be some growing pains.......... Also, Lilja has been a very good steadying force for Ericsson since he's been back Since the break: Ericsson - GP G A PTS +/- SHOTS HITS 5 0 0 0 -1 3 5 Lebda - GP G A PTS +/- SHOTS HITS 5 0 1 1 +1 4 2 You want to tell me how that has been so glaringly different to justify playing a peaked, waste of a roster spot like Lebda (who will not be here next year) over a ROOKIE with tons of upside who will HOPEFULLY be a mainstay on our back-end for the next decade or so? Also keep in mind that Ericsson has only been a negative player one of the games, whereas Lebda has been a negative player in 2 - and Ericsson's was his FIRST game ever playing with Lilja... since he has been even or positive every game... He also played a lot more minutes, as a rookie, with tons of guys injured... a lot of players were negative players during that time...
-
this. Lebda is horrible and the only reason he has looked ANY better lately, is because he is paired with Lils, Lils is a very solid stay at home defensemen and makes smart hockey plays... Ericsson has looked WORLDS better since Lilja has been back as well... Ericsson>Meech>Lebda I don't even like the fast that Lebda has gotten any ice time over Meech at this point...
-
same here, it's such a simple solution... all games worth same point total, awarded more for winning as a TEAM (as it is a team game) but no lame ties in regular season... ALL GAMES WORTH SAME POINT TOTAL W in Regulation/OT - 3PTS W in SO - 2PTS L in SO - 1PT L in Reg/OT - 0PTS done and done.

Wings Transactions You Loved Which Unfortunately Failed
stevkrause replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Theres a good one... Ranford was kinda a let down... Doc, thanks for posting the stats of CuJo... I can't believe how ignorant some people are about CuJo just because we didn't win a cup... which if anyone should be bitter, it's CuJo... the team cost him a cup, because he did everything he could have... -

Are you freaking kidding me?!?! The CuJo situation was the only black mark on the otherwise incredible player relations of the brass of the last 20 years... he played stellar when he was here and got a raw deal and was a scapegoat for an offense that couldn't put the puck in the net... in his 2 playoff rounds with the Wings, he had under a 2 gaa and about a .925 save %... look at the stats... people that blame him, or don't recognize that the team failed him and not the other way around are complete idiots... -
Let me just preface by saying I do NOT think this is going to happen... I'd love to see the Wings sign David Clarkson to an offer sheet, or trade for his rights and negotiate a deal with him... The guy has shown solid skill and a nose for the net and isn't afraid of anyone, a true power forward in the making and kind of reminds me of a less offensive Brendan Shanahan, but with more heavyweight power... I think the guy could be good for 20g,20a year in/year out and would look great in the Winged wheel...
-
Keep in mind how many of those 1 goal losses were with an injured team though... still a scary stat, but keep it in perspective...
-
there's no way Kenny extends an offer sheet, just not his style...
