Lilja isn't technically on the cap yet... he has to be cleared by team doctors first and they cannot go over the cap, even with the Olympic break - a player would have to be LTIR'd or cleared once he is...

NHL - No Honor League this is where it is going... the lack of respect for fellow players in today's game is becoming down right alarming... The players need to be able to police themselves again WITH RESPECT AND HONOR(not just goon it up) and the league needs to gain some consistency both with calls and with punishments... Why are there even 2 refs on the ice? One needs to be watching BEHIND the play and the guy that is in the zone, make the calls in the zone - no more 100 foot calls - or go back to one ref if you're not going to use 2 properly... Neal didn't even get a penalty on his cheap shot and Jansen should have gotten a match penalty - no consistency. It sickens me that my favorite sport in the world has such a joke of a league as its professional forum for display...

He stopped EASILY at least 5 "should-have-been" goals and made 50 saves... we need wins, and it sucks... but lets not flame the Wings, they played one hell of a game(one of the best they have all year) and there's nothing you can do about a lights out goalie...

agreed, I love Flip and think he hasn't even close to peaked - but I would be tempted by David Booth... provided he learns to keep his head up... all and all, unless it was a no-brainer who was too good to pass, I want him to remain a Wing.

this is the only way I'd be ok with moving Flip, is if it was for a bonafide scorer, who ALSO hasn't peaked... but even this move couldn't get made without moving someone like Williams as well, as we'd need to free up more cap then just Lebda... also... you're leaving out Cleary... Booth-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Cleary-Helm-Eaves Miller-Draper-Maltby I'd be ok with that...

I'm pretty sure he would have cleared either way - but true, if it has to be done eventually anyway, why not do it now...

Barker is better and still hasn't peaked, if that's a straight up trade, you guys got the better end of the deal in my mind.... don't get me wrong, Wiz is a good NHL defensman, but Barker is already on par and still has room to grow...

I think Olesz is a push with Fil offensively and is a downgrade defensively... I just don't like that proposal... now if you want to start talking blockbuster (not actually suggesting this, just using it as an example) Valteri Filppula, Jakub Kindl, 1st round pick(2011), 3rd round pick(2012) to FLA for Nathan Horton, Keaton Ellerby, 4th round pick(2011) then I'd be more open to the idea

I think teams are waiting for the actual deadline, as they can't practice with the player after tomorrow anyways, so why pay their cap? I think it's going to be a very exciting March 3rd... with that said, I still expect a couple moves today before 3...

Barker and a late pick for Zidlicky and an earlier pick? expiring contract and pretty good dman and in turn, some cap relief for CHI and a decent pick - makes sense to me...

Zidlicky's contract ends after this season - he'd basically be a rental and they could unload some of those contracts of future studs that go past this year in return *cough* Versteeg* *cough* hell, maybe even Sharp and get a pick as well...
