Could Williams be the one traded by Friday?

LGW GM Mentality: First, trade Lebda and Meech to Washington for Ovechkin and Backstrom, then trade Howard to Vancouver for Luongo, then bring Gerard Gallant out of retirement and trade him to Calgary for Jerome Iginla... trade Stuart and Rafalski's no trade clauses (not the players themselves, but actually trade their no trade clauses for a bag of pucks - this frees the player up to then be traded), then trade Rafalski for Atlanta's next 12 first round picks and Stuart to Tampa Bay for Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis... then trade Filppulla for Boogard (who needs a soft euro that's defensively responsible and capable of good offensive numbers??!!? - we need toughness!) promote McCollum, Kindl, Brendan Smith and a 14 year old prospect from BC - because he won a ton of fights in Bantam AAA and we really need that grit on the back end... force Holmstrom, Draper, Lilja, Maltby and Osgood to all retire... finally, get everyone to restructure their contracts (even though the CBA doesn't allow contract restructuring - they'll make an exception!) for league minimum Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Ovechkin Franzen-Backstrom-Iginla Cleary-Lecavalier-St.Louis Abdelkader-Helm-Boogard Lidstrom-Ericsson Kronwall-Kindl Smith-14 year old prospect Luongo McCollum what an infusion of vets and prospects! here, let me say this very clearly - you do not blow a team up that is only one year removed from a cup and was in the SCF last year. period.

Common Sense... Common Sense... anybody, anybody, Common Sense... Common Sense.... nope, not here in this thread.

    Kronwall out, Holmstrom doubtful

I really wish Holmstrom, Kronwall and Franzen(even as a reserve) all should withdraw from team Sweden - they could all REALLY use the rest and they're participation is going to hurt the Wings chances this year...

Could Williams be the one traded by Friday?

You forget secret scenario #4 - purposely injure Osgood in practice and put him on LTIR, then kill Lebda (this is just good for the NHL), bring Tim Cheveldae out of retirement as a temporary backup at league minimum

    Shootout

SO is one of the few areas that an injury break doesn't hurt you - you don't lose your hands..................... Franzen should have been in the SO

    Meech on the PP?

Because the guy can't play 30 minutes a night.... he's already on the PK and seeing big minutes otherwise... we REALLY need Lilja and moreso, Kronwall, back so we can go: PP1 Lidstrom-Rafalski PP2 Kronwall-Williams PK1 Stuart-Kronwall PK2 Ericsson-Lilja
  7. This is obvious... now as for the trade/waive suggestions -  http://www.thefreedictionary.com/irrational

Could Williams be the one traded by Friday?

I very rarely question Holland and co, but if they keep Lebda and trade Meech (unless some team gives some insane price for him - HIGHLY unlikely) - They are idiots. simple as that. Meech has HANDS down outplayed Lebda, just watch last nights game...

    Tollefsen Clears Waivers

I haven't heard of anyone claiming him and wasn't his waiver over at 8am this morning? I was very pleasantly surprised by this part of the Leino transaction and think his biggest problem thus far in the NHL, is he wasn't given ample time to develop properly... he prob won't be back next year anyway, but if he buys into the system, I think he could end up being a quality NHL player after 2 years in GR and developing in a real system...

Who would you want in our top six?

A lot of people don't really take the cap and/or team chemistry into account when playing with trade ideas... I've given up on really trying to argue these posts, because most of the trade ideas are completely unreasonable

    Whatever happened to Markov?

Your hatred for Rafalski has clearly impaired your thinking and we cannot continue this debate. That, or you're drunk.

EDIT - keeps double posting for me

    Whatever happened to Markov?

Brett Lebda - and that is with the mindset that he only makes 600k You can buy a set of pylons at Dicks sporting goods for $50

    Tollefsen Clears Waivers

I actually agree with all of that, but some guys also just want a place to call home and are sick of bouncing around... If he buys into the system, I could see him staying in GR for a year, as long as he's promised he'll be given a chance to win a job out of camp... remember where he's come from, Columbus and then Phi - 2 pretty poorly run organizations by all accounts as far as player development (pretty much toss you into the deep end and float or sink) - maybe this is just what he needs... side note - I think scenario 2 is the most likely as well, of the scenarios where he stays...

    Jeff Carter Obliterates Anssi Salmela

if you watch, the shot was already in the net when the shoulder shiver is delivered... and to one up that - maybe if he had gone after the puck instead of the hit, it wouldn't have ended up in the back of the net... he could have laid out and knocked that puck loose... there's a difference between laying someone out as PART of the play, as opposed to doing it in SPITE of the play... I love big hits and if you go back in this thread, I've already said, I don't see this as a punishable offense and still think Salmela should have been more heads up and was at fault for his injury as well as Carter - but to say this isn't a classless hit is laughable... the lack of respect for fellow players in today's NHL is alarming...

Who would you want in our top six?

is Babcock using a new mousse in his hair? maybe that's the root of it all...

    Whatever happened to Markov?

so you'd give up a cup in 08? because without Raffi, we don't have that cup. period. He isn't having his best year, but he is still a damn good offensive dman - they are different styles, so the comparison is pretty moot anyway
  20. I've never taken the shuttle from Hockeytown, but if you like Red Lager's - I'm pretty sure they're one of the only places in Detroit that gets Rickard's Red from Canada - it's delicious, so I recommend that for beer aficionado's... food is pretty good, a little over priced for what it is, but good nonetheless - pulled pork sandwich was the best thing I ever ate there EDIT - just checked their menu... looks like they don't carry Rickard's anymore - boo to them! As for the seats, those should be pretty good view wise, but the odds of getting a puck there are slim to none with the netting and the angle...

    Tollefsen Clears Waivers

exactly... I'm more just hoping he buys into the system and re-signs in the offseason with the mindset that he will play in GR, but have a chance to earn a spot out of camp...

    Jeff Carter Obliterates Anssi Salmela

To sum it up - Anssi's fault for not protecting himself - Carter's fault for a classless cheap shot AFTER the goal was already scored... more fault to Carter, but Salmela is not 100% free of responsibility for the injury...

I can guarantee his French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, etc... are better than my Finnish, haha I always have much respect for people who are multilingual and can actually carry on cognizant conversations in the languages
