I'll one up you and say that without at least 2 seasons of 70+ goals, he'll never even be close... as was already pointed out in this thread, part of what makes him so dynamic and amazing, is his reckless style of play, but that same reckless nature will also be what cuts him down... there is no way he'll play 15+ seasons of basically injury free hockey (ie, seasons not costing him 15+ games) with the way he plays...

48 hours if the waiver is done on a Sat or Sun - only 24hrs M-F....

I wish I could find the thread I started on here from over a year ago about this... I don't agree with a few of his thoughts, but the overall concept(to re-align) is far overdue - the current system favors the East and isn't right... Edit: found it (gotta love google) - my post was actually over 2 years ago... http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45813

Who do you think is the most suited trade partner for the Wings for what we have expendable and for what we want in return? Please do not name actual players from opposing teams coming back to Detroit, but rather just what team you think is the best candidate for a trade for Detroit and what you think Detroit would send out to them for exchange (ie. Lebda and Leino for picks, or Meech for a prospect, or Meech and Leino for a forward, etc...) My personal choice, is the New York Islanders - They are a young, fast team that is still growing and needs speed on the back end. Detroit could send Lebda and Leino to NY and in return, NY could send a late round pick or two and a mid level prospect to Detroit BOTH Lebda and Leino would get immediate minutes on that roster, possibly even in top pairing situations with their lack of depth and youth and not add a ton of cap space to a frugal NY team (who has a TON of cap space to spare) - in return, Detroit gets future picks/prospects to develop while freeing up roster spots and cap space as with all trades in the NHL, this would be a win/win - which are optimal.

Thoughts on the Four Minute High Sticking Penalties
stevkrause replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I agree 100% - I've always thought the same thing... I think it should be judged 100% on severity and not on blood... a guy can take a brutal high stick in the throat (Ribeiro) and it will only be a 2 minute, even though it collapses the guys air pipe, but if he gets a little split lip - 4 minutes... Anyway, I agree... it's odd... -
I probably shouldn't respond to posts while I'm aggravated at work, haha

You very rarely see in-division trades, but if they're willing to give up a little more in the terms of what prospect(s)/pick(s) other teams will... I agree, they definitely fit for their needs...
-
I agree... it was a win/win - I sill think NJ got the better end of the deal, but it was only skewed like 60/40 with that said - and if NJ can't re-sign Kovalchuk, then it's a better deal for ATL... they got 2 picks, a number 1 pick prospect, a top 2 d-man and a guy that (until his recent slump) was in the running for rookie of the year... win/win

sorry... don't mean to come across as an ass... there's a loss in translation to typing... basically what I was trying to say, was that it was determined in another thread that this would work due to daily cap hit numbers, blah, blah, blah... if I'm wrong, I stand corrected...
-
oh, but no were not... that would only be if there had never been daily cap hits and contracts already accounted for, etc... look at the daily cap numbers - it works. so, no - I won't try again - done and done.
-
HOLY F' - They really didn't give up too much for this year either, especially with their depth on the back end already... I'm calling it right now - Devils in the SCF for the East.
-
I guess it's possible... Mikko Koivu and Leino may work well together, as they're countrymen, with somewhat similar styles and they could use some speed on the back end with Lebda... aren't they already dangerously close to the cap though?
-
that is one of the best things I've ever seen! :beerbuddy:
-
exactly - this is such a no-brainer it's not even funny. trade/waive Lebda and Leino and send down(he'll clear waivers) May. done and done.

We can send a person out sometime next week...

officiating/reviews are an absolute joke, along with the disciplinary committee - no consistency, or clearly defined guidelines for ANYTHING The fact is, when your commissioner is a joke, it will trickle down to all aspects of your league... The NHL is a Mickey Mouse league and until the BOG fix this, it will continue to be one... -
I'm done with this thread... it makes me want to pull my hair out...

Because you'd be giving up more than that and he will only be a rental and then want a max contract... If he's willing to sign here for a discount, he'd just as easily do it in the offseason... as a FA...
-
Thanks for the update!
-
Because, you do not blow up a team that won a cup 2 years ago and was in the finals last year for ONE player, who might not even re-sign here in the offseason... This is not the way Holland works and I am very grateful of this...
-
they reported in the Wings game he was playing big minutes, PP, PK and looked VERY well conditioned... stats don't always tell the whole story... I think this is a VERY good sign...

Are you drunk?

The only problem with this train of thought, is that teams competing will be looking for guys to make an impact, not necessarily "role players" or projects for their case(ie Leino, Lebda) and are most likely up against the cap anyway and will need to make a player for player trade, which Detroit can't do... I think a lower level team would be more likely to bring in guys with potential(Leino) or experience(Lebda) and give up LOW level prospects(keep in mind, I'm not talking gems here) for immediate return...
-
Lebda's god awful play last night just further cemented this sentiment... don't get me wrong, Meech's wasn't a lot better, or the team as a whole... but there were several times he got in WAY to deep on the play and Dats or Z had to bail him out back checking that stuck out like sore thumbs...
