bull - the SECOND he is back from a reconditioning stint and on the active roster, he will play over Meech or Lebda without a doubt... cleared from doctors does not mean on active roster... and Lilja most certainly plays a big mans game, he hits, blocks shots and clears guys out from in front of the net... AND he's a PK gem to boot...
-
wrong... because of what he is - a big, stay at home d-man I'd take a rusty Lils over Ledba any day of the week, especially because it affords Ericsson to play a more offensively d-man role...
-
the Lilja news makes me giddy... and the fact Kronwall will be back tomorrow......... oh man...
-
there's the problem with that deal, haha
-
:D :D :D :D I honestly thought I'd never hear this... this made my day...
-
I think it'd be a rental just for this year regardless... he's made it pretty clear that he's probably hanging them up at the end of this season... if we get him at the deadline, the cap hit for the remainder of this year should be 500k or less, as most of it would have already been absorbed by Dal...

Flyers' Asham accuses Pens' Cooke of biting him during scrum
stevkrause replied to edicius's topic in General
it doesn't need to "go" per se, it needs to go back to what it was when it was created just an additional 2 minute penalty when a player clearly makes a guy fight when he doesn't want to and needs to ONLY be handed out when it REALLY fits - the automatic suspension in the last minute, blah, blah, blah, etc - THAT needs to go... -
That's the way I'm looking at it - it would essentially give you 3 lines that are a solid scoring threat and a 4th that wreaks havoc on teams and wears them down and can STILL score as well...
-
Agreed... I think they'd be crazy and it'd be a poor move as a franchise to trade the face of their organization for over 15 years, but if they're going to be stupid, I wouldn't be opposed to Detroit being the benefactor... I think it would be the most beneficial to Helm to play alongside and learn from him... even with that said, I don't know who I'd want out to add him and don't think I'd WANT it to happen, but I'd still smile if it did... that's kinda how I look at it...
-
yea, it's kind of ambiguous - I still think he will retire a Star, this article just took me by surprise and I thought it was worth discussing...

this is a discussion board, you know, for discussions, you've added nothing to this thread, run along now.

cap doesn't get averaged over the entire season - it's paid in full by like the 2nd week of March, so we'd essentially be on the hook for like a week or two of his salary... which would be like 500k or less I believe...
-
that's the most intriguing part about it in my mind... it's an expiring contract... so he'd only be here for the remainder of this season, but could go out with a bang...

Flyers' Asham accuses Pens' Cooke of biting him during scrum
stevkrause replied to edicius's topic in General
Cooke is the epitome of what is wrong with our game - guys that run around trying to hurt each other, with no respect for each other, or the game, that will hide behind the officials when it comes time to own up for their actions... and the game lets them hide... When there's no fear of retribution, low-lives will always sink as low as they can... -

agreed. -
well, if we waited until the deadline, the cap number would be virtually nothing, so we could make a minor move to accommodate the numbers... if it's was Leino or Modano, that's a no-brainer in my mind, haha
-
I think he'd fit here and definitely wouldn't be out of place... I don't necessarily want him here, it's just interesting to think about... I'd just rather go with the kids
-
rub someone out, is very different then "rub one out" - watch Goodfellas sometime... back to the topic. C Mike Modano 39 9 10 19 -4 Not too bad of stats all things considered, would bring some more championship leadership to the room...
-
I personally think Turco is on the downside of his career... not that you were necessarily insinuating that you'd want him here, I just don't know why any team would really give a lot up for him at this point... and I agree... it would be weird, I'm guessing he'd wear 90? I actually think I'd rather role with the forwards we had, but I'd be happy if he came here...
-
I almost threw up - it came down to Pronger and Thorton... luckily, my 4th question gave me Thorton..... to even think that I have as much in common with Pronger as a stupid survey bothers me...
-
I refuse to let this topic get de-railed by something so childish- I know we have a glut of forwards now, but he's defensively responsible and can still score a bit... plus he's great on the faceoff - last year of his deal, he'd be essentially a rental and there's rumor Dallas might deal him... http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/dal100124.html Would you want him here for a 3rd/4th line role to bring him home to finish his career (he's almost definitely done after this year) - it'd be a deadline deal, so essentially no cap would need to be shed... you got thoughts on that?
-
I personally don't think they need to add any forwards at the deadline, maybe just a 6th dman... unless Semin ends up available as they're saying.... but he could be an UFA anyway, and we might just want to hold out and make a run at him in free agency and not lose the BUNDLE of assets he will most likely command... it's still just interesting to think of, as you said, he'd be coming home and that ALWAYS puts a spark in someone... plus, I think he'd be a PERFECT role model for what Darren Helm could be...
-
I bet you laugh if something costs $1.69 too, because of the change, don't you? rub someone out - to remove them from the situation there, you had your little childish laugh - back to the topic.
