Your favorite out of the signees?

We can't - that's why I said COULD HAVE and not PASSED UP ON - My point was allocation of cap space... also, I find it very hard to believe that Prospal would have passed up on a chance to play on the wing with Dats...

Your favorite out of the signees?

This is not a Lebda and a 4th round pick for Lucic type scenario... it's simple semantics... Prospal was an UFA and signed for 1.5 Williams was an UFA and signed for 1.5 I don't see where the confusion on your part is... pretty cut and dry...

Your favorite out of the signees?

hands down Eaves... Bert gets a very honorable mention and Miller was great pickup, but not a signing... even though he played pretty well before he went down, I think the Williams signing was a waste... especially when we could have had Prospal instead... Also, if Bab's is so bent on the right handed shot from the point, I'd be ok with Eaves back there for that anyway, he's got a very heavy, accurate shot...

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

Say he was willing to sign a long term extension in the area of 7 years, 49 mil - maing his cap hit 7 mil a season... What would you be willing to part with - Please make it reasonable(we're not going to get him for Lebda and the ghost of Steve Chaisson) and keep in mind ATL's needs... Although it would majorly bum me out to see him go (I am a huge Fil fan/supporter) - Filppula, Kindl and 2 1st rd picks... * Ilya Kovalchuk — $7,000,000 Pavel Datsyuk — $6,700,000 Henrik Zetterberg — $6,083,333 Johan Franzen — $3,954,545 Daniel Cleary — $2,800,000 Kris Draper — $1,583,333 Todd Bertuzzi — $1,500,000 Tomas Holmstrom — $1,500,000 Darren Helm — $1,000,000 Justin Abdelkader — $1,000,000 Patrick Eaves — $900,000 Ville Leino — $800,000 Drew Miller — $750,000 Brad May — $500,000 DEFENSEMEN Brian Rafalski — $6,000,000 Brad Stuart — $3,750,000 Nicklas Lidstrom — $3,000,000 Niklas Kronwall — $3,000,000 Jonathan Ericsson — $900,000 Derek Meech — $500,000 Doug Janik — $500,000 GOALTENDERS Chris Osgood — $1,416,666 Jimmy Howard — $716,666 ROSTER SIZE 23 SALARY CAP $56,800,000 PAYROLL $55,854,543 BONUSES $0 CAP SPACE $945,457 Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Homlstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Franzen Miller-Abdelkader-Cleary Draper-Helm-Eaves May Leino(unless we can get rid of him too) Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Janik Meech Howard Osgood makes me all tingly to think about.....

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

fair enough - Filppula, Kindl, prospect, 2 1st rounders and a 3rd rounder.... how about that?
  8. stevkrause

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

exactly... he was left off on purpose... no reason to bring him back with the rest of that roster...

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

Rafalski has a NTC and already made it clear he's retiring here... no way they ask him, or he waives it...

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

I don't think it will happen, but I'd love to see him here... this is more for fun and to see what everyone thinks he's worth...

What would you give up for Kovalchuk

how is that not reasonable? like someone else said, it may need another pick, but I don't think that's selling it too low?

Ericsson back tonight; Janik back down to GR

well there's the answer... VERY glad big E is back, but very bummed that Janik is gone while Meech and Lebda waste space...

    Dan Hamhuis - pending UFA

as a side note - I wouldn't see him as a top 4 guy here anyway for his price tag he will most likely get...

    17 Straight PK's

As much as I love Z and value him as a defensive force... with the way he's played this year, there is no one on the team I am more comfortable out there with defensively than Helm... and that would include on a 5-3 PK...

    Dan Hamhuis - pending UFA

just another role player with a career average around 25 pts - not what we need... I'd pass...

    Backes VS Team Canada

good counter argument, but come on... we can all agree that the Olympic talent pool from the US is MUCH deeper than that of Slovakia...
