    Cujo to retire Tuesday

he got a VERY raw deal here and I honestly believe that had we never gave up on him and brought in an at-the-time-hurt Dom, he would have won his cup... His team did not give him the goal support he deserved in 2004 and he got hosed... a goalie should NEVER lose a series with those numbers... 04 playoffs: SV% - .939 GAA - 1.39 how the hell does that lose?!??

    Janik's waiver status

I know he was called up on an emergency basis, but I was under the impression that an emergency call up only lasted 7 days and after that, if he is still on the big club, must then be exposed to waivers (if he was not waiver exempt). I read through the CBA and the part in bold below now has me questioning it... seems like Janik COULD be sent down without being exposed to waivers... on any note, I don't like it one bit - he's EARNED a spot on this roster and if he goes down just because he can, and Lebda remains on this squad, I will be very disappointed in the Wings' brass...

    Janik's waiver status

that's how I take it too... does anyone have Holland's number, so we can call him and inform him that Janik needs to stay in place of Lebda?

    Janik's waiver status

    A. Janik > Staffan Kronwall > Meech > Lebda (especially for what we need) - Wouldn't make sense... B. We already have a glut of forwards and it would be a waste of a roster spot, as at least one guy up front is a healthy scratch nightly anyway...

    Janik's waiver status

I wouldn't say absolutely... I think he's really made an impression on Babcock... let's just hope Babs gets his way and Janik is not the one off the roster when it comes time... Lebda is on the last year of his deal, we have Kindl and Pyett in the pipeline (not to mention Smith and Nicastro) and he won't be here next year anyway... so why save him? Even Meech (although a bonehead at times) has more upside and is younger at least... I am just absolutely done with Lebda here and to have Janik in GR, while Lebda plays here is indefensible in my mind...

All time Red Wings best fighters?

I base mine more off of fighting ability, not just guys that would drop them anytime, but actually had the best form, always put up a damn good fight/won and would go through a wall for teammates... 1. Bob Probert 2. Joe Kocur 3. Darren McCarty 4. Dennis Polonich 5. Stu Grimson 6. Troy Crowder 7. Brendan Shanahan 8. Gerard Gallant 9. Terry Carkner 10. Aaron Downey

    Praise for Doug Janik

    there, fixed that for you.

    Praise for Doug Janik

He'll also be somewhere else next year regardless... Meech is younger, still has upside, and is equal to Lebda, wheras Lebda is what he will be. Seems like a no brainer to me...

got ya... I thought they meant St. Mary's of the NCAA Thank you for clarification.

I'd rather have Meech than Lebda at this point...

Howard to start vs. Isles, Big E eyes return vs. 'Canes

I'm pretty sure injury call ups only last for 7 days... after that, they must clear again... If someone has documentation of it otherwise... please enlighten me.

    Praise for Doug Janik

WHY DOES EVERYONE GLOSS OVER HIS WAIVER STATUS?!?!?! He is not waiver exempt, with the way he's played... we expose him and we very well may lose him...

Howard to start vs. Isles, Big E eyes return vs. 'Canes

the more Janik plays the way he has, the more I believe he will not clear waivers... If it comes to exposing him to waivers, or Lebda... I really hope the Red Wings brass sees the benefit to keeping Janik (especially since both players are UFA's at years end and Lebda will likely not be back anyway)

Mike Danton Set to Return to Hockey

I'm confused... how is he college eligible if he's already played professionally? Isn't against NCAA rules for any player who has competed professionally to play at the college level? On any note, good luck to him, everyone deserves a second chance

Howard to start vs. Isles, Big E eyes return vs. 'Canes

I certainly hope he replaces Lebda... his play has been horrendous... and as I've said ad nauseum, once Kronwall is back, I hope he replaces Meech... with the way Janik has been playing, along with his style (physical, stay at home D-man) there's no excuse for the d pairings once everyone is healthy to be anything but: Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Janik

Pretty soon - Who are the THREE odd men out?

    A. he won't be waiver exempt once people are back - it will end at the end of this month B. moot point.

Even in the event we send Abs down, we have no more waiver exempt eligible players (there's no way Helm goes back down - and I'm not sure if he's even exempt anymore anyway) and will HAVE to let some people walk (whether it be trade or waivers)... At least 3 guys can't be on this roster and only one can go down without having to clear waivers... If I had it my way, I'd send Abs down (I don't want to, but it's the only thing that makes sense due to his waiver eligibility), trade Leino (logjam up front and his work ethic bothers me) and trade/waive Ledba (use Janik as the full time 6 and Meech as the 7th) - This also frees up the most cap... probably not what WILL happen, but I think it makes the most sense...

Pretty soon - Who are the THREE odd men out?

Miller will stay, May can Say. Leino can go down or be gone.... so be gone, because he's too egotistical to go back to GR where he belongs. and you're right, it IS impossible to continue this discussion, because you know you're wrong and are too damn stubborn, or biased to admit it... it's called waiving a player, happens all the time...
