um... even with how green Ericsson is, and yes - he makes rookie mistakes at times, he is STILL leaps and bounds better than both of them defensively - as Carman JUST said, that is more of a testament to how bad both Lebda and Meech are defensively, than it is saying that Ericsson is a first team all-star...

Ericsson is leaps and bounds better than both of them defensively and even his game still needs improving at that end of the puck... putting them together, leaves too much weakness on one pairing... if he does put them together, it will be sparingly at best, with essentially them only rolling 5 d-men and putting the 6th in when too fatigued

there's no way Babs lets Meech and Lebda play together...

I would call it more positioning, match-ups and preparedness than conditioning, but yes, that falls on the D coach

They're also missing Hudler's SO abilities and Franzen's right now - Z is an amazing player, but not your best SO option - in a perfect world, we'd go Datsyuk, Williams, Franzen and we'd be ok... until he gets back - Datsyuk, Williams, Cleary - just my opinion though... Shootouts are kind of an anomaly and still deciding a team game by individuals - I still think the league should switch to a 3pt game system... 3 pts for a win in regulation or OT 2 pts for a SO win 1 pt for a SO loss

and this way, none of our coaches once played with any of our current players (McCrimmon was Lids first D partner in the league)... I still think it's hard to be unbiased and ride a guy the same if he was ever a teammate as opposed to JUST being a coach, especially when said guy is arguable the best defenseman to ever play the game, the captain of the team and just so damn likable as Lidstrom... Scotty/Barry Smith unmercifully rode Yzerman at times, and no one could ever argue his work ethic or talent... it just sets a precedent and forces other players to step up, ala "well, if Lids is getting rode, obviously I'm not exempt from being rode"

you're right, they're not - but both are faster than Holmstrom - plus, I just think Holmstrom works better with Z (well both Z and Dats, but if they have to be spilt up, I'd rather see him with Z)
