I love it - this needs to be their new main and they need to scrap the old logo and jerseys and just do a green version for home and a white version for away... very classy, simple... perfect.

Babcock splitting up Filppula line in Practice
stevkrause replied to b.shanafan14's topic in General
I think it has nothing to do with country of origin and that's a very myopic way of looking at things... it all has to do with team chemistry and that is developed by individuals, not where they were born... Speaking of the Olympics, I don't see Canada winning the Gold, maybe not even the Silver, as Russia, US and Sweden all have VERY strong teams... don't get me wrong, I root for US and Canada 1 and 2... but I still don't see them winning, so this doesn't really prove your point and one of the biggest reasons NA players have been getting drafted higher lately, is due to the risk of no IIHF transfer agreement causing teams to lose picks, along with the emergence and money offered in the KHL and the fact that college players don't lose eligibility, I don't think this automatically means the best players are coming out of NA, they're just better investments in most cases... -

I can agree with Cleary needing better minutes, I guess my biggest problem with Bert being out there with Williams and Draper, is the speed differential, right now Fil has to gear it back to play with Leino in this scenario anyway, as he isn't as quick, so it made more sense to move Bert to that line to me... either way, I don't like the idea of spitting up Leino and Fil as their chemisty has been really good, they just need a finisher on their line... if we hadn't lost Franzen, that line would be cooking right now... -

this. I think these line changes will help get us back into a groove, if for no other reason than putting ZDH back together... I still would have rater seen Leino-Flip-Bert - 2 guys that love to pass first and one true shooter and a big body to go to the dirty areas that Leino seems to shy from... but I like these changes... -
Are we more of a North American Hockey Team now?
stevkrause replied to Dimaline312000's topic in General
for the record, I think it's irrelevant... I think our slow start has 100% to do with us still gelling as a team as there were some major roster changes and I think McCrimmon needs to go... mark my words, we will still finish in a top 4 seed. -

It depends in what sense we're talking... if we are talking style of play, this is irrelevant, if we are purely talking about numbers of each, then yes. this works. for the record - Nicklas Lidstrom - European Pavel Datsyuk - European Henrik Zetterberg - European Johan Franzen - European Andreas Lilja - European Johan Franzen - European Niklas Kronwall - European Valtteri Filppula - European Tomas Holmstrom - European Jonathan Ericsson - European Ville Leino - European Brian Rafalski - NA Brad Stuart - NA Daniel Cleary - NA Kris Draper - NA Todd Bertuzzi - NA Jason Williams - NA Chris Osgood - NA Kirk Maltby - NA Justin Abdelkader - NA Jimmy Howard - NA Brett Lebda - NA Patrick Eaves - NA Derek Meech - NA Brad May - NA Darren Helm - NA 11 - European 15 - NA -
MacLean moved back to D, McCrimmon fired, Gallant brought on as forward coach - Lebda/Meech traded or waived, Delmore brought up from GR D pairings: Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Ericsson Stuart-Delmore Lebda/Meech as #7(whoever is kept) done.
-
That was the whole point behind this thread... that was covered in my starting post Gallant was the head coach for the Blue Jackets from 03-07... a head coach can easily take over as an assistant... especially with his history here, I think he'd be an amazing hire...
-
Not one bit, because we were a couple bad injuries on the backed in 07 from going to the finals and probably winning the cup... and if anything, our defense is MUCH better now, than it was then... 07: Lidstrom-Lilja Schneider-Kronwall Lebda-Chelios and then we proceeded to loose Scneider in the playoffs with the broken wrist 08: Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lilja-Lebda
-
people REALLY do need to relax... McCrimmon should be canned, but not based on our slow start - based on the last 1 1/2 years of poor team defense and we need to figure out some D issues with Lilja on the IR, but we lost a key defensemen and a VERY key forward to injury - that will affect ANY team... chill people, the ship will be righted
-
this was merged into the wrong thread and doesn't really belong here... Can't we just sticky a "LINE CHANGES/ LINE COMBOS" thread and merge every one of these into it?
-
Lebda got a lucky goal tonight, but his decision making is really sub-par and it cost us the game tying goal.... Meech is a downgrade from him... I'd rather take a chance with Delmore or Janik and just see how they do... it can't be much worse by this point... forwards are good - people need to back off Maltby - he's played the best he has in 5+ years this season and has earned his ice time...
-
How have some people not picked up on the fact that this is CGI yet? Just like the 1st and 10 graphics in football are not actually on the field! This is only for viewers on TV and I actually find it to be a brilliant marketing use of ad space...

FSN Detroit has basically been letting the fans vote for the #1 star of the game via text for over a year... but the official 3 stars announced at the end of the game is a cool change...
-
You're dead on... Agreed 100%.
-
I like Turco's and Smith's the most out of the new ones - good design, well put together... I still think Steve Shield's throw back tribute was the best...
-
REALLY change things up... have Osgood and Howard skate out as forward, suit up Datsyuk and Lidstrom as goalies, then have Lebda center the first line with May and Rafalski as his wings... They'll never see it coming!
-
He's off to quite a start right now... considering the back problems, I understand why we chose to waive him over Lebda or Meech, but how nice would he look back there instead right now...
-
These extended breaks between games suck... I hate going 5 days between Wings games... on the other hand, it will be nice for Pav to get the rest, and the rest of the team as well... I think they're still a little jet lagged for the Sweden trip and could use the downtime...
-
I think I may have come across wrong, I think your list is VERY legit for middleweights, with the exception of Rypien - I just think he is the real deal and deserves to be #1 on that list... other than that, I think you're pretty accurate...
-
aww... did too many people call you out? :violin:
-
Example - vs Carcillo - and this was 2 years ago, before he OBVIOUSLY took boxing lessons - Win Rypien...
-
I think he would give Tootoo a run for his money, even with the size differential...
-
check back here when he's beaten them all with the exception of MAYBE Asham.
