May would have to go through waivers as well, as would Eaves - a 2 way contract is not like NHL10 on xbox - all it means is that they are paid a different amount depending on where they play - options to the AHL are dictated by NHL experience and age...

how the hell did this become a line combo debate? This was purely in regards to the 4th line once Helm is back and how they looked last night - can we please stay on topic? Can't the "Holmstrom on the 4th line" comments be posted in one of the other 347823654327895 threads about it?

Looked stellar last night. It's really hard to decide who to sit when Helm is back, because Maltby has looked the best he has in 5 years lately and May NEEDS to stay in this lineup I think your lines are spot on - and I agree a May-Helm-Draper line looks AMAZING to me As for Eaves, it's a tough thing for him, because he really needs to be playing top 6 minutes to be effective, but there is NO room for him here, I see him spending the whole year in GR unless there's an injury and then either re-upping for a 2-way contract or walking. Abs needs to be playing HUGE minutes - he will eventually be a 2nd liner here, mark my words... and it will serve him well to be playing in all situations in GR
-
he's looked solid and although I'd prefer to see Ericsson on the 2nd PP, he's looker WORLDS better back there than Sammy, better shots, better decisions and WAY better at keeping the puck in...
-
not sure if anyone else already posted this, but it was just reported that Abs was sent to GR and May will most likely play tonight

I hate this place sometimes. EDIT - my original response was made to all the line combos... With the physics formulas though... oh man, comedy gold!
-
yea, forgot to mention that...
-
2 goals on 28 shots and faced 5 PP's... not too shabby... too bad the offense couldn't get more goals, that should get a win...
-
I personally wanted to see us carry Delmore as our number 7 and move Lebda before the season began... more grit, right handed shot and a CANNON from the point... could have been great on that 2nd PP unit instead of Williams...
-
I didn't say we were going to get a first round pick in exchange... he's a bottom pairing guy on most other teams in the league, especially ones that don't have speed on the back end - we could get a mid-level prospect or a late draft pick for him - just because he doesn't fit in our system, doesn't mean he wouldn't fit elsewhere and maybe even thrive... he just doesn't serve a purpose here.

unless Meech royally screws the pooch, or barring an injury, Lebda will not see a game from anywhere other than the press box for awhile... Meech drastically outplayed him in the preseason and the only reason Lebda was given the nod in the first place, was his seniority... as soon as Lilja is off LTIR, Lebda will be dealt. Count on it.

agreed

I don't see Toskala lasting as starter longer than game 10 of the season...
-
Understandable... a Leino-Filpulla-Franzen line would be pretty dynamic...
-
I agree that Helm is a bad idea - his style does not compliment them at all...
-
I still think Fil should be a 2nd liner and Z and Dats should be back together - Homer on the 4th line, used as a PP specialist... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Leino-Filppula-Bertuzzi Cleary-Helm/Abdelkader-Williams Holmstrom-Draper-Maltby PP1 Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Lidstrom-Rafalski PP2 Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi Ericsson-Kronwall (not gonna happen, but should) so in reality Williams-Kronwall

first, lets trade Lebda and Meech to Washington for Ovechkin and Backstrom, then trade Howard to Vancouver for Luongo, then bring Gerard Gallant out of retirement and trade him to Calgary for Jerome Iginla... trade Stuart and Rafalski's no trade clauses (not the players themselves, but actually trade their no trade clauses for a bag of pucks - this frees the player up to then be traded), then trade Rafalski for Atlanta's next 12 first round picks and Stuart to Tampa Bay for Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis... then trade Filpulla for Boogard (who needs a soft euro that's defensively responsible and dynamic - we need toughness!) promote McCollum, Kindl, Brendan Smith and a 14 year old prospect from BC - because he won a ton of fights in Bantam AAA and we really need that grit on the back end... force Holmstrom, Draper, Lilja, Maltby and Osgood to all retire... finally, get everyone to restructure their contracts (even though the CBA doesn't allow contract restructuring - they'll make an exception!) for league minimum...

1. Dean Youngblood 2. Gordon Bombay Now Dean Youngblood had great speed and a little more grit, but Bombay was a masterful stick handler before his tragic knee injury... discuss. EDIT - quick side note, both were righties... hmmm

watched it on VS last night too, huh? haha I was reminded of that as well...
-
laughable... East - I don't see how Wash and Phi are so low and that Toronto did not make the playoffs - I think they will be a 7 or 8 seed, and maybe higher depending on how hot they get... I also do not think Fla is a playoff team West - Dallas was RIDDLED with injuries last year and WILL be better, CBJ will prob be a 5 or 6, LA I don't see being a playoff team at all and I think Min could surprise some people... also, the very joke that Det is an 8 - They will be a 4 at worst.
-
I want big things from Fil, but you bite your tongue! We lose Dats for the year and we're not going very far this year... simple as that...
-
corrected - I see him now
-
I haven't seen Maltby yet...

I refreshed the stream and I'm getting audio now...
