he's only 2 years removed from a 24 pts season, which I also already posted... I'd take him over most others and once again - ONLY ONE YEAR LEFT ON THE DEAL - We can cut ties in 2010 if it doesn't work... see a few posts above too - I said: wtf is up with people replying before reading all the way through...
-
I see TSN reporting Antropov, but where are you getting the Koivu one from?
-
also, that was a pre-cap world Wings philosophy of the captain being the highest paid... doesn't apply on re-signing of contracts - no one gets more than Nick now, because he is the ceiling, after this contract is up, Z will be the ceiling...
-
we're arguing the same point kinda, I agree whole heartedly that he is better than any of the other 3 on that list... my point is, that the 3rd goalie for an Olympic team doesn't even play really and Luongo and Brodeur are going to get all the time, so might as well have Ozzie rest, rather than have to travel to VAN just to sit...
-
eh... I know it's probably not the best move for the team... I've just always wanted this guy in a Wings uni... can't blame me for wanting to see one of my favorite players on my team...
-
that's a moot point.
-
last year of his contract... what would we lose? if it doesn't work, don't bring him back... and he's no slower than any other tough guy in the league... faster than most as a matter of fact
-
and 24 pts just 2 years ago... and Laraque couldn't do anything while he WASN'T playing in MTL...
-
look at the talent (or lack thereof) that he had to play with his whole career... he'll NEVER be confused with a point machine, but he can plant his ass out front and get garbage goals IF he has teammates that can actually get the puck to the net... just as we've seen with others (Clearly, Samuelsson) players raise their game when they come here...
-
9 majors last year and steadily had 15-30 points a year from 00-07 on 4th lines... also is a career +7.. ALSO on 4th lines... I don't know, I think he'd have a breakout year here, like 30pts, a steady 8-10 minutes a night...
-
my thoughts exactly!
-
depending on the number... I'm sure there are better choices... like I said though, I am an unapologetic Laraque slappy and would just love to see him in the winged wheel... he's an AMAZING character guy, does an obscene amount in the community and will go through a wall for his teammates... and he showed that given the chance, he can put up 30 pts in a season as well... I just think he would gel so obscenely well with this team and would have a career year point wise in Detroit...
-
they were only a few wins away from squeaking into the playoffs last year before that losing streak at the end... with some maturity and growth, they could be a very good team in a couple years...
-
lets be honest though... Brodeur and Luongo are locks... I'd rather have Ozzie rest during the break, than be a 3rd wheel just waiting to even dress...
-
side note - I thought his contract was through 10-11, I think he will finish his contract because of the type of player he is, he's still a competitor... I just see him definitely hanging them up when his contract is up... so that is actually after this upcoming season
-
The style he plays has really caught up with him... I can't see him coming back after 2010-2011... his body is just too beat up...
-
eh hem... this would still be possible... this would make my off-season if it happened...
-
I've never been a fan of rental players... if by some strange shot in hell, we are able to bring him on board and convince him to take a cut to stay long term (along with Nick's money going down) and it doesn't cost us a roster player... yes. Too many variables though and I couldn't see it working... if it did though, as usual... In Ken Holland we trust.

this board makes me want to rip my hair out sometimes........
-
and the flat out goonery of the Flyers continues... Pronger, Emery and now Lappy... hello 1970...
-
too bad, I would've liked him here, but we couldn't afford that...
