Kovalev is almost a point per game guy player in the playoffs too... you're missing my point, Feds was great when he was here, but his best time is behind him - LIKE Kovalev You can overlook the attitude (that they both have) when they're in their prime... it's not worth it at their ages... if Feds really cared about competing for another cup, he would have re-upped with Wash at a discount, rather than bolting for Russia for more $$

sorry, I should re-phase - he had optional heart... he played with lots when he wanted to, none when he didn't... The pretenses under which he left speak volumes.
-
he did when it meant a paycheck... remember the hold out, or how about the 94 playoffs where he skated like it was a leisurely Sunday afternoon skate when we needed him badly... Just because he is a potential hall of famer on 60% effort, doesn't excuse him for only playing at 100% when HE wanted to... what a moronic response.

an aging superstar who at one time had all the talent in the world, but no heart, work ethic or reliability... why wouldn't they have just brought back Fedorov? no thanks.
-
people need to stop looking for someone to blame - he had a bad few games, but we flat out don't win in 08 without him - he's still pretty young and will bounce back - give the guy an f'in break. I can't take anymore of these posts... I am taking a sabbatical from this board until after July 1, if even that soon to keep from reading this idiocy *note - this is not meant towards the OP, but rather some of the comments and most of the other topics that have been started since the loss. bye.

so, so, so much beer...

how does this ****** keep getting work?!?
-
such a class act and amazing man... it saddens me to think of what he's going through
-
Nick is just the consummate professional... it really was uncomfortable to watch though, so I can only imagine how awkward it had to be for him...
-
I have half a mind to mask my ip, create multiple accounts and just flood them, haha
-
I'll go one further and say that there's NO way Holland re-signs him unless it's a 4.3 or less cap hit per year... gotta remember that the cap is probably gonna go down, if not next year, the year after... and we have to fill out a roster as well...
-
I agree on all levels. I definitely feels it needs to be Leino though... Leino fits on a 2nd scoring line role, not a 4th line checking role, and that's where we have him, so the sub is clear.
-
also, Holland is a genius and if Hossa is signed - I guarantee there are some retirements coming off the books... I said from day one, if it means losing half our team - DO NOT re-sign him, but you bet your ass if we do, it's because it means he is fitting in WITHOUT blowing the team up... Also, I love Hudler and do not want to lose him, but he is an RFA and will return 3 picks, so....... Samulesson is gone regardless... I already mapped out a roster that works with this scenario... and yes, Hossa WOULD be taking a HUGE discount to stay, as he has put up basically Franzen-esque numbers, he get's Franzen-esque pay - Check it
-
that would help amazingly - I'd love to see an additional 2.8 on our books...
-
you know nothing about foot injuries clearly, especially with the style of game he plays... if he's out - he needs to be. period. I also am making a prediction that you can mark here now - Pavs WILL play game 4.
-
my cousin and I noticed that too and felt dirty, because we were half rooting for our beloved Tigers to lose because of it - glad that streak snapped!
-
why hasn't this idiot been banned yet? he was a deadline deal that didn't even play a 3rd of the season with you guys... get over it.
-
we can't afford him, after the year he had, someone will give him 2+ next year, probably as a starter
-
X a million.
-
I think the most logical one would be Holmstrom hanging them up, along with Malts, freeing up over 3 and Hossa taking a major discount to stay here... almost equal to Franzen's deal
-
you bite your tongue... we do not want the day Lidstrom retires... plus he still has at least 3 years left in him... he'll take a reduced salary after his contract is up next year
-
if who retired?
-
nope... not allowed in the CBA
-
I still see absolutely NO way that it works unless someone retires... trading Flip would be a monstrous mistake, ESPECIALLY if you re-sign Hossa, with the chemistry these 2 have found... edit - obviously, Ritola is a guess, you can swap out a Downey at 450k if you want... still really only frees up 2-300k, so no drastic difference in the key players this really is the only way I see it being possible without blowing our team up
-
A. Drapes is not going to retire - he WILL finish his contract B. why don't you people get that his contract was signed after 35???? It would still count against the cap - all the more reason we DON'T want him to retire, then we'd be down a body and STILL have the cap hit.... no thanks
