My thoughts exactly... his chances of making the Wings roster this season are slim to none and slim isn't looking so good, but that doesn't mean he can't compete like a beast in camp, earn a contract and show why he belongs here NEXT year in GR this season... his attitude seems, like you said, like it did a complete 180 and that's all a player needs to thrive in the Wings system - work ethic and a good attitude. As for being on Datsyuk's line, as touched on in the other thread, I'm elated that Eaves is getting a shot in camp to anchor that RW slot on Dats line and I really hope he wins and keeps that slot... now, Eaves could possibly actually get to 35 goals (even though, as others touched on - 35 is a VERY lofty aspiration for anyone) given top 6 minutes playing with Dats all year, he has one of the most under-rated shots in the league and a nose for the net...

for all the flack he takes on here, that's one thing Hudler has going for him, he's never afraid to shoot the puck... All in all though, any of the other line combo's will really work for me, I just really want to see Patty given a legit shot to play and stay on Pavel's wing and I think Cleary is a fantastic compliment to those two... that's the line the gets me most excited, I think Cleary and Eaves could both have career years on that line and as I touched on before, defensively... oh man... talk about a shut down line, their +/- would be insane!
-
I absolutely LOVE the idea of Patty on Dats line... call me crazy, but I think he could easily score 25 goals if he stayed on Datsyuk's wing all season and with his defensive ability, that line would be HELL to play against for opposing teams as well... I'll bite with the line combo's for a rare instance as well... what I want to see is: Cleary-Datsyuk-Eaves Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Hudler-Filppula-Bertuzzi Abdelkader-Helm-Mursak/Miller

I agree, that was my fav part of Bryz's mask... the Smith one is very well done artisically and I love that it has a comedic angle
-
I LOVE Mike Smiths Wile E Coyote theme, haha Bryz's looks pretty sweet too...

Formality, but needed to be made official...
-
weird... just, weird... I personally like him on 97.1 and think he should become a permanent third member of the mid-day show, I think he would offset Karsch and Anderson well...
-
Ding. ding. freaking ding to the bolded part! Furthermore, this is ridiculous and this case should be immediately thrown out, it was unfortunate and I feel for the guy, but it happened on the ice, not in the street and does not belong in the courts... Another VERY solid point - as I said, on the ice, out of the courts. period.

That makes two of us horrible people then I guess

This thread = throwing gas on a fire

Helm is a great player and seems like a great guy, but he has the non-hockey intelligence of a brick and that's an insult to a brick... also, he has NEVER struck me as a natural leader, but instead, a great soldier... that's not necessarily a bad thing, he fills a great role, I love his work ethic and style of play and I hope he's a Wing for life... but I don't know how anyone would ever think Helm would or should wear any letter in the Winged Wheel...

Agreed

Kyle Wellwood signs with Winnipeg
stevkrause replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Am I the only one who doesn't even notice Wellwood in that picture? every time it's posted, I can't help but admire the words "Life Guard" -
He's definitely saying all the right things - http://www.freep.com/article/20110909/SPORTS05/110909035/1053/sports05 Let's hope he means those words and comes into camp determined... he has a ton of potential and if his attitude is truly the way he is speaking now, he'd be a welcome addition to the organization and could really help GR next year en route to making the Wings in 12/13

My thoughts as well, 2 WAS open before the loss of Beast, as I'm pretty sure Fisch actually ok'ed it (Smith wore it in pre-season last year), but I have to imagine they're going to take it out of circulation in memory of Beast, as they will probably do with 24 for a little bit as well...I checked into this and the Brunnstrom thread yesterday, just to try and take my mind of the tragedy and I really can't even comment on these threads without thinking about it... it's hard to discuss anything else on this board right now...
-
I don't want to read about this anymore, as it makes me sick just thinking about it, but I can't stop checking in here, reading the comments from players, coaches, etc around the hockey world... it's amazing how many lives were touched and subsequently devastated by the men on that plane and I can't help but get angry at a tragedy that could have and SHOULD have been prevented... the loss is too much...
-
Unless it's just in a call up situation for some seasoning and a black ace appearance, I really hope we don't see him in the Winged Wheel this season just because I want him to log MAJOR minutes in all situations in GR and be ready to play everyday next year...
-
He's been humbled a little, that's a good thing - That is when players excel and reclamation projects in the Winged Wheel begin... I'm glad to hear this from him and think there is still a lot of upside to him, hopefully he earns a contract, has a real good year in GR this season with a potential couple call-ups and can fight his way onto the roster next season... as I've been saying this whole thread: having almost too many good, NHL-caliber quality players is a good problem to have
-
I'm out... I can't keep reading this... it's just too much...

ESPN has been known to jump the gun and isn't always reliable on hockey... all signs point to Rusty being gone, but I am going to hold onto hope until someone like TSN reports it as fact...
-
and in the worst way... I'd take another work stoppage in a heartbeat to have this off-season go away... I want the off-season of '05 to go back to the worst off-season (in the hockey sense) of my life...
-
Same here, I already feel absolutely HORRIBLE about this whole thing, but this up and down is making it worse... I am crossing all parts of my body that Rusty is ok, even though the signs are not positive...
-
I'm feeling the same way... this in no way devalues the lives of the others, but I'm still holding onto some GLIMMER of hope for a silver lining in a VERY dark cloud, Salei JUST had a baby, no child deserves to lose their father before their life has really even begun... This story has my stomach in knots, I can't even comprehend it right now...
-
That's my thought... all we can do now, is hope...
-
So much for that glimmer of hope... this is unreal...
