not at all.. Markov wouldn't take a one year deal, wanted 3 plus at over 3 a year... plus, he's not counting as a 3.5 cap hit, plus, LA already paid almost all of his salary, we're really only paying about 1 mil of his salary...

too bad in the original, you were comparing Pronger and Lidstrom and Niedermayer with Lilja... and NO those are not accurate... also, spell the names right before you call someone Einstein sarcastically... also, Lebda is not in the equation, if you want him to be, he beats Huskins buddy... and also, O'Donnel better than Stuart???!?!?! seriously?!?! just flat out silly...

Stats by NO means tell a players whole value - he's been on crap teams and asked to be a number 2 in the past - as a number 4 on a solid team, with a solid core, he will fit great - adds toughness, hard, heavy shot from the point for 2nd PP (gets rid of Sammy) and plays with lots of heart when he's in a good situation... had some pretty good years with the Sharks before he was dealt for Thorton and has not been happy where he's been yet...

agreed I do think Mule will be on the 2nd line by the playoffs - his early injury was the only thing that set him back... I think it will really just be line 1, line 2, line 2a and line 3 come playoffs though... there will be a lot of rotating...

you're comparing unsimilar style d-men... you don't even make any sense... there's an old saying - "Never argue with a fool"... so I'm going to stop arguing with you.

benches get shortened in the playoffs too though Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Cleary - Franzen - Filpulla Maltby - Draper - Drake Hudler - Kopecky - Samuelsson I think he'll be a 4th liner by playoffs...

yea, missing Kronwall and Schneider - those guys are healthy and you replay the scenario and you have a different cup winner my friend. defensive depth just added that. oh yea, and a guy named Rafalski...

Anaheim is a close 2nd, but not better break it down one by one Lidstrom > Niedermayer Rafalski > Schneider Lilja < Pronger Kronwall < Beauchemin Stuart > O'Donnell Chelious > Bergeron thats 4 to 2... simple math - oh and reserves - Ledba > Huskins you're so hung up on 4 guys, thats all you know how to say, Lilja will now drop to a number 5, making him more effective in his role, Sammy will never be what we need him to be - agreed there, Hudler is a 4th liner playing on a 2nd line and Lebda is a number 7 Guess what, those 4 are a SMALL part of the team Detroit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anaheim period.

He will be re-inspired in Detroit, I can guarantee... there was no heart in LA, for almost the whole team, including management until the last month... you could tell several guys there already shipped it in... I will put it out there right now that he will be rejuvenated here.

Red Wings acquire D Brad Stuart

and you're basing this off of what? He was expected to be a number 2 there... he is a top 4, not top 2 and he is a defensive dman, not offensive, he will fit here PERFECTLY... and he's got a mean streak... something we BADLY lack in the back ice

3.5 this year - UFA in the offseason, possibly just a rental, but only cost us picks...

are you kidding us?!?! seriously, yes, all 3 got better, but I still think we're a better team, ESPECIALLY with arguably the BEST defense in the league with Stuart added to the fold... when everyone is healthy, THIS is our defense corps: Listrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lilja-Chelios/Lebda NAME a better D in the league, try.

I still would have loved to see Stoll here, but at least we got Stuart for as cheap as we did...

    The 2008 Trade Deadline Thread

Prospal to Philly, definitely makes them more powerful, waiting to see where Richards will end up, Hossa, what Detroit will do... I LOVE IT!
  22. Jarret Stoll from Edmonton for Emmerton and '08 2nd round pick and '09 2nd and 4th rd pick if he resigns long term Detroit gets: Stoll - A 25 year old, gritty, potential 30 goal scoring right handed winger with tons of upside and speed - RFA after this season Edmonton gets: Emmerton - a potential 2nd liner with great hands, good size and a lot of speed, one of Detroit's top 5 prospects 2 picks to rebuild Reason for both parties to make the move: Edmonton could lose Stoll to an offer sheet, or lose him for nothing depending on what he gets, he could definitely benefit from a change of scenery and it is definite rebuilding in Edmonton, they get essentially 3 for 1... or none. Detroit could use a high flying right handed shot with a soft touch and potential 30 goal a year ability NEXT Brad Stuart from Los Angeles for Derek Meech, Mikael Samuelsson (a guy can hope), '08 1st rd pick and 09' 2nd round pick, and a '09 1st and 3rd and '10 2nd rd pick if he resigns Detroit gets: Stuart - A nasty, hard hitting top 4 D-Man that moves well and has a mean streak and a heavy shot from the point Los Angeles gets: Meech - a young D-man with a lot of upside and quickness that could benefit from not being in such a high expectation environment and would probably flourish in this vein... Samuelsson - a right handed power play specialist to add to a depleated RW system in LA, not a ton of upside, but could do well to get out of an environment where more is expected of him than he can simply do a BOAT load of high asset picks in the event he resigns and at least 2 other picks if he does not Reason for both parties to make the move: Los Angeles could lose Stuart for nothing in the summer as he is an UFA - They are out of playoff contention and could use some payout towards rebuilding younger for the future around Jack Johnson and Detroit could use a nasty d-man that will make opponents accountable Filpulla-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Cleary(once healthy)-Datsyuk-Stoll Maltby-Draper-Drake/Downey/McCarty? Kopecky-Franzen-Hudler Lidstom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Chelios-Lilja Hasek Osgood

Show me the rule where this is illeagal? This is definitely a possibility - not a probability, but a possibility, yes. Kenny is a genius and I wouldn't put it past him.
