what if Chelios physically picks the opponents goalie up, forces him into the puck outside of the trapezoid and then falls on the goalies stick, causing bleeding, all whilst Draper and Maltby are pulling players out of the opponents bench and Ledba purposely runs into an opponent causing him to go face first into the boards 2 minute minor for goalie delay of game 4 minute double minor for high sticking 2 minute minor for too many men on the ice 5 minute major for boarding and a 10 minute game misconduct for a grand total of.... drum roll.... 23 MINUTES OF POWERPLAY TIME!
-
screw this summer... I hope they lock it up before we even get to that point! I want to see him finish his career in the winged wheel, he's the next C after Nick retires in about 3 years
-
something odd i noticed about holmstroms padding...
stevkrause replied to sirdrake's topic in General
agreed completely - back when I played, I wore the hard plastic killer pads at first and noticed that not only could I hit just as hard and be just as protected with the softer pads (older style), but my mobility increased as well - there's no need or place in the game for those hard plastic pads... -
good idea... this would work perfectly, if they just sat down and made it happen

",when teams in the Southeast Division play 3 in the Central Time Zone and 79 in the Eastern Time Zone." EXACTLY.

the travel cost for the current West Conf teams would decrease dramatically... the only ones it would go up for would be the current East Coast teams... but they wanted "parity" so, they should eat some travel cost as well... I think overall, it would actually work itself out to be close to the same league-wide think about the cost associated with travel between Ottawa and Florida... Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota, Columbus and Nashville to ALL of the CA teams, not to mention Edmonton, Calgary, etc and vice versa... these would shift in essence and the out of conference would balance it as well... I really don't see this causing any LEAGUE wide increase, maybe just for a few owners (NY, cough) who got it MADE right now haha, it's ok, I'm not a homophobe I think if more people really thought about this, it would really open some eyes...
-
straight answer... becuase my geography is bad, haha, ok swap Ottawa and Montreal
-
this whole thread made me laugh so much, I peed a little...

see.. why do you gotta go and post that??? it just reminds us all how much we miss Fisch...
-
Flip on a line with Dats... yes, yes, yes. I think this will be start of his true breakout season.
-
yea, this was a great scrap, very spirited on both ends
-
he is such a cheap-shot pansy... I would love to see a guy like Laraque, Brashear or Boogard just DESTROY him...
-
I know he's a natural center, but I couldn't agree more that Flip should be on one of the top 2 lines... Filpulla - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Zetterberg - Hudler Cleary - Draper - Samuelsson Drake - Kopecky - Maltby
-
It was beautiful watching Drake drop em tonight, but damn what a little ***** Perry is... first he won't shed the shield when Drake is taking his helmet off, then he cheap shots hit while Drake is in the process of taking off his helmet...
-
exactly... I shouldn't have expected anything less from such a low-class club than a low-class move like that... I'm sure someone will have it on youtube tomorrow...
-
hello? Ryno. period. He has outplayed them all... I don't care how young or inexperienced he is, he has more upside and has put in a 100% better camp
-
thank you, I just read an article from the Free Press too stating that Babcock is seriously considering him for the last roster spot too... I really hope thats true, I would love to see a young guy of that caliber starting this soon

Igor Grigorenko (#21) - He didn't look too out of place, but still seemed a step behind and his decision making was sub-par, also, another thing that was VERY disconcerning was his apathy on the ice, at times he looked like he was only putting out about 50% effort, something that puts me off and I know won't sit well with Babs... all and all, he was not impressive and not worthy of a roster slot from what I saw Derek Meech (#14) - Played a WORLD better than he did on Thursday and I'll give him that, but I stand by what I said in the last post... time to send him back down and if someone snatches him, oh well... he's just not worth the slot. Mattias Ritola (#42)- played again and still impresses, see my last post - it all remains the same. Matt Ellis (#8)- yet again great effort, hard play, smart decisions, book him on your 25 man roster folks, this guy HAS earned his spot in my mind. Ryan Oulahen (#25) - Another VERY promising young kid in the organization, looked quick, smart and playing hard... in a couple years. Johan Ryno (#50) - 6'4", 210 lbs, bullet of a shot, oh and did I mention that he OUT SKATED Hank?!?! yes, at 6'4" this kid was BLAZING around the ice, had a couple great chances and didn't shy from physical play (didn't really seek it out either, but that can be worked on) this kid is only 21 and unless last night was the performance of his life and not an ordinary for him, I would love to see him up RIGHT now, screw the learning period, this kid is LEGIT and would only get better by playing with the likes of Hank, Holmer, Lidstrom, Franzen and the Swed locker room attendants, valet driver and cleaning staff that the Red Wings employ, they employ enough, it's possible... anyways, I would love to see him on the opening day roster. Brent Sople (#75) - well this guy is an NHL'er, we all know this... he looked solid and made some nice plays, a few defensive lapses, but that has been his game throughout his career, I'm sure being taught by Nick would fix this... anyways, I like what I see from him and his past NHL numbers/experience are enticing, I just think that our minds should already be made and we're flat out, out of room at the blue line... Jimmy Howard (#35) - Looked solid again, love this kid... goalie of the future side note, it's like salt in the wound seeing Laraque out there flying around like he did Here's my impression on what I THINK lines should be for the season by the way: - UPDATED Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Franzen Filipula - Zetterberg - Hudler Maltby - Draper - Cleary Drake - Kopecky - Samuelsson Ellis, Ryno Lidstrom - Lilja Kronwall - Rafalski Lebda - Chelios Quincy Hasek Osgood
-
yea, I've been loving the way Ericsson has played, I can't believe I forgot to mention him... I think that kid is going to be big time as well, I love his work ethic! and yes, the "new grind line" has looked amazing thus far
-
they're not playing them on the actual radio either... ugh... no radio stream I can find... radio kinda sucks for preseason anyways, part of what I like the most is actually watching the prospects, their placement, decisions, how they're reading the ice, etc... I don't realy care about score in preseason... thats just me though
-
you bet, they're at the Joe tonight and in Pittsburgh tomorrow... 1st period is almost over http://redwings.nhl.com/index.html DAMNIT, this SUCKS! - look at this lineup - http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20072008/ES010038.HTM half of these guys are the ones I want to see...

the Derek Meech experiment needs to come to an end, let him go through waivers, if someone claims him, fine. He looked good and can completely understand why the Wings wanted to give him a shot, showing glimpses of almost brilliance, but he simply IS NOT THERE. He will not be there for probably at least another 2 years either, he had some huge mental collapses, bad positioning and made some very bad decisions. Brad Ference - slow, out of place, I think he needs to be in the next set of cuts, or sent straight to GR, he looked HORRIBLE. Mattias Ritola - in a couple years (maybe even next year) he'll be ready for a full time slot, the kid looked solid, smart and quick, looked right at home with NHL talent Evan McGrath - wins the title for most improved camps - he looked solid, smart and right at place (for those of you that remember last years preseason, he wasd HORRIBLE in camp), not ready for a slot with the big club, but should have a great year in GR and be ready shortly. Matt Ellis - In a solid fight with Mark Hartigan for the last forward slot on the big team roster. He looks solid, comfortable and shows flashes of brilliance, with the potential of even developing into a 20 goal scoring crasher... if only he fought Mark Hartigan - see above. Yet again, love his intensity, never looks out of position, has great hockey sense and a GREAT attitude - I'm really interested to see what will wash out between the fight for the slot between Ellis and Hartigan. Jimmy Howard - looked a little slow warming up, but looked great once he got going, I'm very comfortable with him being the full tiome guy for the Wings in the near future. All and all, we rolled out a half NHL/half minors squad against a full NHL squad and gave them a game I would still LOVE to see another physical presence, but not at the cost of the guys we have in camp... I'm still angry we didn't get Laraque at the deadline last year... anyways, all and all I like what I see this far. Here's my impression on what I THINK lines should be for the season by the way: Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Franzen Filipula - Zetterberg - Hudler Maltby - Draper - Cleary Drake - Kopecky - Samuelsson Ellis Lidstrom - Lilja Kronwall - Rafalski Lebda - Chelios Quincy
-
I agree with all of that - Kronwall will get better, his preseason time is all about getting back to GAME shape, I'm not worried about him... I think Lilja turned a corner at the end of last season, and I think he deserves the time he's getting, there are still a lot of Lilja haters out there, but he's proving himself and as long as he keeps playing the way he has since about the all-star break last year, he'll have his best year of his career... Quincy looked pretty solid too and I personally think he has earned the spot as our 7th d-man....
-
from the sounds of it, the lackluster effort he's shown in camp, he'll get limited minutes and will likely be on the outside looking in at the end of the preseason anyways, I think he'll be playing another year at least in Russia...
