Sounds just like the type of player we don't need here... a primadona who thinks they're owed something without earning it... Not really related, as he was just homesick and it wasn't supposedly an ego thing, but this thread got me thinking about Johan Ryno... it's a bummer it never worked out with him, had such a promising couple of camps and that kinda speed at that kinda size is a rare combo...

well, the way you "sees" it, is flat wrong. period. A troll is someone that ONLY posts to invoke vitriol - Only, as in exclusively. An isolated post, regardless of its context, which does not follow the constant of said users posts, does not define their posting as a whole... which, once again, does not apply to where the term "troll" originated from - someone that ONLY posts to invoke vitriol, not one that once in awhile, or in an isolated instance, does. I'll just leave it at that, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest, over someone else's pissing contest.

It's not relevant, you reply was still off-base... if you think he was out of line, more power to you to voice it, but that in no way, shape or form makes him a "troll"... a little jab is a lot different than an attack - "boo hoo" is hardly saying "you're a waste of flesh and an invaluable member of society"... Once again, I'm neither defending, nor supporting either side of their exchange, but let them piss it out amongst themselves... attacking mmamolo in retaliation, hardly squelches the issue...

Agreed... I didn't even hear this story until now, thanks for info... just further cements by beliefs on his future (or lack thereof)

Wayyyy off base, I'm neither supporting, nor defending this particular exchange, but mmamolo is one of the few posters here with good knowledge of the game, the franchise and the league, and a valuable poster on this board as well, so I'd tread lightly on slinging that term around... especially when it could not be further from the truth...

You know what really grinds my gears? No one's come up with a new priest and a rabbi joke in like 30 years. Ok, ok, uh, a priest and a rabbi go into..the supermarket. And the preist says, let's buy a ham. And the rabbi says, "Nope. Can't eat it. Not allowed. It's forbidden." Pigs are like super-heroes to them. Is it perfect? No! But I dont see you coming up with anything better. And that, people, is what grinds my gears. Tom.

From everything I've read, great skills, horrible attitude and will probably never be an NHL player... if he were to jump right now, he'd be out of the league by December after being sent down, and then jetting back to SEL... just my impression... also, skill guy, not very physical Also, from watching him on streams, seems to take shifts off...

    Bold predictions for the year!

Here is a topic for bragging rights, make your bold predictions here that you can later refer back to when/if you're right and claim your bragging rights, or eat your crow! Mine: - White will have a career year, putting up over 40pts and being very effective on the PP - Ericsson will steady his play and post another plus year, as well as play more physical - Franzen will stay healthy all year and have a 40+ goal season - Hudler will actually bounce back decently and will post a 50+ point season - Mursak will unseat Miller and will end up an everyday player by the end of the season, Miller being a healthy scratch most nights and... GO!

    Bold predictions for the year!

The caps became VERY legit the minute Vokoun went there... I don't think it's too far fetched to predict Washington finally getting over the hump... Chicago, however, I think is going to struggle with the massive amounts of roster change they've had since their cup, team chemistry is VERY important and they made some great moves and Stan Bowman has done a good job with what he was given, but I still think they're going to struggle this season, before potentially becoming a legit threat again next year... As for the rank of 5th out of the west, that is indeed laughable, the only teams on the list that they even have an ARGUMENT for being above us in "rank" are Vancouver and (hate to admit this) SJ... I still genuinely expect the Wings to make the SCF this year, barring a crippling injury (not the normal injuries we sustain every year, but a season ending type to a key player or two)

    Bold predictions for the year!

I would say no apology necessary... but even mentioning Lebderp coming back is indeed VERY fitting of an apology Both dmen you mentioned would command a bigger price than that... also, I find it very interesting that you think Doughty is worth more than Weber... Also, I'm pretty certain Parise would command a bit more than that as well... Once again, you have to give to get...

    Bold predictions for the year!

I'm with you on that... I don't want to see him traded, but it would be pretty funny to see eva's reaction! We'll have to put eva on suicide watch if it does happen, haha I'm actually on the other end most are, I have always liked Hudler and really pull for the guy and I also think he is going to have a bounce back year... with that said, I don't think his consistency or potential really makes him a trade asset at this point, as he'd need to string a couple of good years together before he was really considered an asset... I think Nashville is going to want a ransom for Weber, and, he may be one of the only players of this generation worth paying a ransom for... All and all, I really like our team right now and would hate to see pretty much any of our roster players shipped out, but Weber is a once in a generation player and would probably get even BETTER here and that alone makes it too enticing to pass up on if it's offered, even at the cost of anyone on the roster not named Lidstrom, Zetterberg or Datsyuk...

    Bold predictions for the year!

hey, gotta give to get! It doesn't have to mean Datsyuk or Zetterberg, but I would consider Franzen being dealt shocking, or a package that included Kronwall? I would consider that shocking as well and although it would sadden me on both accounts, I would be willing to accept it, if the piece coming back here was Shea Weber (and that a extension was negotiated with him prior, so we don't trade for a rental) Not necessarily true, but since the cap era, Holland has been hesitant to trade away high picks AND/OR roster players, and either of the pieces I mentioned above would qualify to me, or, say Holland traded Sheahan, Tatar, Smith AND Filppula... wouldn't that be shocking to you? May still very well be worth it, but it would definitely be some "sticker shock" at first glance... Why would they not? If they can't reach an agreement with him, they'd be better getting something more in return... they can't take him to arbitration again and he may opt against filing to force their hand, as they would likely get a much better package back for him in a trade, then they ever would by letting him go to an offer sheet, or just HOPING that a team signs him to an offer sheet, on the chance they can match it...

    Bold predictions for the year!

I'm going to make another, VERY bold one... Shea Weber is acquired at the trade deadline after the Preds can't come to terms with him on an extension and are already out of playoff contention... furthermore, the trade involves at least one shocking piece coming back from Detroit...

He also has a proven track record, and I like Miller, but I expect big things from Mursak this season... the point I was driving at though, is that the 14th spot is really the only one up for grabs, and that comes down to Emmerton/Conner/Brunnstrom/anyone else that comes into camp as a beast... it would take a LOT of variables (multiple out-of-left-field standouts), an un-expected trade, etc... for Mursak to be pushed for his roster spot and I fully expect him to crack the lineup even with a fully healthy roster with his work ethic and speed...
  19. stevkrause

    Training Camp Cuts

Not at all... we're talking about the fight for the 14th spot and that will essentially become a fight between Conner/Brunnstrom(to some extent) and Emmerton... Mursak flat out earned his roster spot with his time up last season and if anything, I think that becomes more of a separate 2 horse race between Miller and Mursak for the 12th spot and playing everyday... I have a strong feeling that Mursak is going to end up playing himself onto the everyday roster by mid-season (if not sooner)

three such players if you include Conner in the equation...

    Training Camp Cuts

Exactly.... short of Smith playing so above and beyond the other d-men on our roster (to the point where he shows top 2 ability), he will log major minutes in GR and be a call up when needed... Brunnstrom is similar to this, in the fact that he would have to impress so greatly, that he essentially earns a top 6 spot, otherwise, he is expendable, as he's not under contract and we lose Emmerton for nothing to make a roster spot... this also applies to Conner (although in a lesser degree, as he would essentially be a bottom 6 player regardless and is already under contract) Also, to those that keep suggesting that Brunnstrom could fill a Holmstrom role - never. It's not his style of play and never will be, if anything, he'd be more of a sniper type, at his best... I think our roster is pretty well set, but competition is always a good thing and these are good problems to have.

Brunnström to try out for Wings

I love what Holland has done this off-season on all accounts. Short of a potential over-payment for Ericsson (it still needs to be determined by his play and with a new D coach, he could very well grow into that contract), this off-season has been spectacular, he added depth and competition, which can only lead to players working harder and set the team up to re-sign all of our players next season, PLUS be a potential REAL player for someone like Shea Weber at the deadline (even though that could not have been anticipated at the time) In Holland We Trust.

    Bold predictions for the year!

EXACTLY - At the price tag that Columbus paid for Wiz, I'm ECSTATIC that we didn't land him... also, I want to kiss Tallon for overpaying Jovo... I think his career is over and even at sub 2m, I wouldn't have wanted him here... I'm very happy with the way this off-season played out all and all
  25. As was mentioned, it will be the most thankless job in the NHL, but Shanny is going to excel at it, as he did in every role he's ever had
