Come on now, it's not like I said he'll be on the 1st line in GR by November and on Detroit by Feb All I was saying, is that if he continues to progress the way he has been, that he has a good chance to be on the 3rd line by the end of the season in GR and who knows, maybe next year in GR possibly even get up to the top 6... but like I said, he needs to keep developing at the pace he has been for this to be a reality... I still think he's at least 3-4 years out from seeing any action with the big club... Coaching staff?

First, inviting a line combo thread and now an enforcer debate? What's with the masochism in this thread?!?
-
touche
-
Don't invite it!!! That's like giving a baby a machine gun...
-
I think Callahan has a good chance in quickly climbing up that depth chart too if he keeps developing at even half the pace he has been... I was just glad we added someone with some snarl when we drafted him, but since, his hands have come a long way as well and now I'm more optimistic he could become a real, solid power forward...
-
I'm really pulling for Callahan to take that next step...
-
Minard has been very good in GR, I'd hate to see him leave, although, he might actually get a shot with an NHL club if he went elsewhere...
-
Can there ever be too many?
-
I put in my resume to them when McCrimmon left... still waiting for my call back...
-
The CBA wouldn't allow that, that's below league minimum... the real question is, how does the cap hit count? Does it get split into 7ths per year? Also, if she is already 5 in human years, does that count as a 35+ contract, or no? Also, who is her agent, if it's Petr Svoboda, then your dogs camp will be talking to Detroit, Florida and Washington and then out of left field, keep putting them all off and sign with the Senators...
-
Same here, I was bummed to hear about both Owens and Tardif leaving...

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT :yowza: sorry, I got caught up in the thread...

Hey, you gotta admit, that was a pretty solid trade on my part! It's odd, I send in my resume to the litany of teams looking for a new GM every year, and yet, no job offers... As for the D positions, even if #4 and #5 change, I think we can all agree that neither White, nor Ericsson are going to drop out of the top 6, which I why I say it's pretty locked 1-5... I fully expect Commodore to take that #6 role too, so I think Kindl will be traded at some point anyways, as he will likely get frustrated at his lack of opportunity... that gets me thinking, get me on the phone with Peter Chiarelli, I have something I need to talk to him about! same here, I think Stewart and Kronwall play very well together and I think White would compliment Nick well on the 1st pairing... at least those are the combos I want to see...
-
I'm pretty sure Commodore will probably be our everyday #6, Kindl and E don't make a good pairing, so Kindl is most likely going to be the odd man out - He'll still keep the #7 role as long as he's here, but probably won't see action unless there is an injury... I could not agree more on the part in bold.
-
I already created my new NHL 11 roster with our updated roster and I put Conklin on it, so, by proxy, it must be so! The again, I also managed to turn around and instantly trade Kindl and Hudler to Boston for Lucic and a prospect, so, there's that
-
I think you're looking at this wrong... Commodore will be battling with Kindl for the 6th spot and the loser of that battle with take the 7th, Ericsson is the 5th, so, barring some MASSIVE, insane, double effort where Kindl AND Commodore outplay E so glaringly (that they're both probably even outplaying Stuart and Kronwall), the 5th spot is Ericsson's. Exelby couldn't even crack the roster in Chicago, he is not going to take anyone's job... he is a good depth signing and will be good in GR, but as many have already touched on, he's about 10th or maybe even lower on the depth chart, so unless he 'roids up, and comes into camp skating like a young Pavel Bure and blasting 110mph slapshots, he's not taking anyone's job... Depth chart: Lidstrom Kronwall Stuart White Ericsson Kindl(*) Commodore(*) Janik Smith Exelby *to be decided in camp, could flip/flop EDIT - Also, regardless of the slack he takes on this board, at this time, Ericsson is not only higher on the depth chart, but he is a better player than those below him (although only slightly in some cases), so it's not just the contract that guarantees him the spot, but his play as well.

Yea, replace Miller, who just re-signed here, that's how GM's work in the NHL Wait, I forgot, we need an enforcer! I would have loved the Wings to have added someone like Cody McCormick (who still isn't signed, last I checked) and passed on Miller, but they signed Miller and our forwards are locked barring a trade, in which case, we'd be bringing in a top 6 guy, NOT a bottom 5+1(enforcer) queue, tired, old, enforcer debate... AGAIN... in 3...2...1... That's what I thought too originally, with the way things have played out, I still think he's going to be traded, probably in a package with Hudler to unload his salary...
-
I'll give you 3.25 million reasons why Ericsson does not need to worry about his ice time. He wasn't scratched last season and his salary was a lot less, plus, regardless of what most want to see, he has improved... if anyone should be unhappy with how things have shaken out, it's Kindl... he's probably going to need a change of scenery, as we certainly haven't made it appear that he's in our long term plans...
-
and that would not include trading away a player like Stamkos, as there is minimal return that would make it worth trading him and if the only way they can get a deal ironed out, is to make it shorter term, that is far better than the alternative, then you revisit the contract in a couple years and maybe even another CBA from now and see how it plays out...
-
This is a good stance for Yzerman. A good GM needs to send a message at some point and if Stamkos is being that greedy, that he won't take 7.5 freakin' million a year, for the team that drafted him, is showing signs of becoming a VERY strong team and has a chance to be competitive for years to come, well then, he needs a lesson in humility... It's not like he's been offered mid level money, 7.5 is in the top 10% of players salaries in the NHL and he needs to set his ego aside and make it happen.... as others have suggested, if it's the term he has a problem with, then they need to sign a 2-3 year deal at even LESS and then he can worry about cashing in, once he's proven himself for more than a couple years...
-
I just had the stragest deja-vu, like this has already had a thread created for it a few time, but I don't see any on the main page, so I must be imagining things... it couldn't be that someone got a little move happy and moved the threads before they even got a chance to materialize and have a more "credible" source As I said in the other threads, Exelby is a good depth pick up and will be good for GR, but I can't see him seeing any time with the Wings, unless there is a trade involving Kindl and he comes into camp and TAKES the 7th d spot, which I don't see as very likely if he couldn't even work into Chicago's roster... I would actually expect Janik to be ahead of him, just because he's already been a part of the organization and paid his dues, so unless Exelby comes into camp like a beast and TAKES said spot, I have to imagine that Janik would remain above him on the depth chart
-
Look at the date - he made that post prior to the White signing...
-
He seems to be the most likely candidate left, so I kind of hope it's true, I'd like to see him back here
-
Well not only that, but there would have to be a trade for us to add another player, so there would be that cap coming off the books as well... there won't be anymore straight up signings, at least not without a trade happening first and even then I don't see us trading, to then sign a FA - any roster changes from here, will be traded assets for traded assets, unless it's a GR signing...
