and overpayment for re-signing of players as well (which probably won't happen) - I expect huge things from Kenny and co., starting today
-
I'm not going to post it, but just for kicks, I just put together an obscene roster on capgeek (just filling spots via FA, no trades), just for fun, to see how much it would put us over the cap with the new raise in capspace and... it was still under the cap... holy hell am I excited for 7/1 to get here!
-
Say they go out and make a splash and bring in someone like Bieksa, as well as another top 6 forward and another top 4 dman in FA and then they go from cusp, to potentially dangerous... it's all a matter of how things shake out from here, with the way their roster stands now, probably not a playoff team, but it shows initiative... agreed.
-
Agreed, I like the idea of trading picks for known commodities in this draft too, this is the weakest draft class there's been in awhile...
-
Columbus has been on the cusp, you never know what they could do this year...
-
wow, that's a SCARY term for a goalie... gets his tag down a bit though, they're really gambling over there on health of players with some of their deals... that'd be a shame, the kid is NHL ready and doesn't need to be stored in the minors... maybe they turn around and deal him as well? Doubtful, but you never know...
-
They can't afford him, just re-signing their FA's and the deal with Bryzgalov will take up the cap space they cleared by this...
-
I should have worded that better, I meant IF they were trying to make more capspace, that is what I imagine they'd do before trading Carle, all things considered, I don't think they'll make more trades and I think they'll most likely re-sign their FA's, as trading those 2 pretty much solved the cap issue they had...
-
There were a ton of reports that they were looking to move those 2 or at least one of them anyway this off season, regardless of cap space due to their antics off the ice and in the locker room, they were reportedly VERY disruptive together and apparently partied too much...
-
not overpaying for a reported locker room cancer...
-
I gotta imagine with moving so much salary already that Carle will be staying put now, my guess is they let Leino walk and MAYBE trade Versteeg, but I don't see them making a lot more moves now...
-
I'm really surprised that BOTH Carter and Richards are got moved, but as I said in a thread about this earlier, my gut told me Richards was going to end up being the one moved... it does shock me that it ends up being both Carter AND Richards however....
-
A re-alignment is far overdue and I think the real solution is balanced travel, with divisions spread out not by geography, but by making all travel equal. Either way, at least this proposal is an improvement from the current one...
-
Yea, no kidding, I was thinking the same thing... but gotta give credit where it's due, no matter how dirty it makes one feel inside...

Do my eyes deceive me?!? Bettman doing something right?!?! :yowza:
-
Snow has already gone on the record of saying that he wants a high draft pick for Nabokov and furthermore, Jurcina for Hudler straight up might be a stretch at this point, let alone a 2 for 1...
-
7+ a year, sheesh... Say bye to Philly Carter, Leino and probably Versteeg as well...
-
I support the use of this word-mutant!
-
let me cover you by pointing out that you're joking, before this gets out of hand...
-
Hell, he'd be their number one right now in Phoenix... good luck to Joey Mac, I would have loved him to have stayed in the organization as a #3/#1 in GR, but anything more and I'm hesitant, especially with the amount of good, cheap, reliable backups available this off-season... As for Osgood - he is done, I think he's Holland's plan Q by this point, as in options A-P fail first, we're 2 days from camp and need a backup... "crap, Osgood, want a job?" but the odds of that are slim to none and slim has one foot out the door...
-
I honestly didn't want him here, until I read that... do you have a source of Lids stating that? If so, that changes my opinion on him signing here greatly from "not hating it for a low enough price" to "loving it" (still granted the price tag is right) Nick can do no wrong in my book
-
I think his decision won't come until Fri before the draft...
-
yes, because he's already an UFA, whereas other players that are currently under contract don't become UFA's until 7/1 when their current contracts expire

I actually think Ericsson would thrive in quite a few other systems where he was allowed to be a swing-guy ala Mike Green and essentially play as a 4th forward... I even think he would thrive here playing as an offensive dman and being paired with a more stay at home partner, but unfortunately, up to this point, we haven't had an abundance of those for him to play with... look how he did with Lilja when Lilja was healthy... no one and I mean NO one should be compared to Lebda, that's just down right cruel...
