    Wings unlikely to sign Osgood/Draper

    A. You do NOT let Eaves get away, that would be a massive loss and a horrible mistake... B. Holland has already stated that MacDonald will not be offered a contract

I just read there is some interest in Deboer as well... Deboer/Bougner? I wouldn't hate it, but I'd much prefer they brought on Gallant/Bougner - another article in regards to this: http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Wings+speak+Boughner/4935580/story.html Also, looks like Minnesota is out of the race for head gigs, so that's one less destination for the likes of Hitch/Gallant to go to: http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2011/06/16/report-wild-to-introduce-yeo-as-new-coach-on-friday/

    Wings unlikely to sign Osgood/Draper

That's too much of a gamble, because they need to sign a solid backup BEFORE camp and before only scraps are left and what if Osgood DOES make the team our of camp, roll 3 goalies?! That makes no sense... also, groin injuries are no joke, ESPECIALLY for goalies... just face the facts, it's time for him to hang them up... it's sad, but it's time and it's part of the game... Also, you don't just give him Bedard's job, Bedard has done a great job with our goalies and doesn't deserve or need to be replaced... he could maybe work in some other capacity and eventually work his way into that role if Bedard moves on, but I honestly see Ozzie doing broadcasting more than anything...

Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?

Well, I got you even... Luongo seems to fall apart when the pressure is on... this is why a team simply cannot drop that kinda money on a goalie, if he wasn't so high priced, they could have gone to Schneider and maybe would have won... I personally think Schneider is ready for a starting gig...

You're better than this! As already touched on, he already hit it...

From the sounds of it, it sounds like he may be looking for a head gig too... I wonder if he'd take an asst role, even though it would be a step up from AHL for sure, he may not want to be an asst... He's a great coach though, I'd be all for him coming here as an asst, providing that Gallant is brought on as well In case I haven't been transparent enough about this situation since day 1 when McClellan left... I think Gallant is exactly what this team needs up front as far as coaching...

Another article that is all speculation (and in some cases way off base and reaching), but fun nonetheless as a way to kill time and mentions some familiar names - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/736731-detroit-red-wings-5-ex-wings-that-could-fill-vacated-assistant-coaching-slots

Broken link... I still hope he's brought in on a 2-way deal to play for GR...

    Janne Lahti

As long as he is willing to take a little less to stay in Philly and they can find someone with a little snarl to put on that line to replace Hartnell, I think it could work out... One way or another though, they need to shed salary and if Leino doesn't lower his reported asking price, he may be one of the casualties...

It's the closest he'll ever be to a cup?

    Janne Lahti

He didn't fit here, and wouldn't have under any role here, he just flat out did not fit the Red Wing system and he's a niche player. Did he prove to be effective when used in that niche? yes. but does this make him a great player, no. There's also a reason why Philly is most likely walking away from him instead of paying him 3m+ as he's reported to be looking to get and unless he finds another team that plays Philly style, chances are, he will not repeat the year he had... he is a complimentary player and he needs those around him such as he has in Philly, to help him be effective. As I admitted, I was flat wrong about him not being an NHL caliber player, but unless he finds a team where he can fit back into the niche he had in Philly, he will not be very effective... with that said, I could see him working pretty well in Columbus, granted they hold onto Voracek and put them on a line together...

    Congrats to Timmy Thomas

He was beyond stellar and deserves the Vezina this year too...

Question: Why do Wings fans hate the Canucks?

If last nights shameful acts weren't enough reason to answer this question, I don't know what is... best and most appropriate resurrection of a thread ever by the way!

This news is very bittersweet, it is definitely time for both of them to hang them up, but it's very sad to see them go at the same time - They both should(will) get jobs within the organization and will always be Red Wings... they were true warriors over the years and Draper specifically has been one of the hardest working players to ever lace them up! Thanks for all the great years, memories and cups!

Nope, they were both head coaches there, Hitch replaced Spuddy when he was fired in 06-07, which would actually make it kinda weird and cool at the same time, if they then joined the Wings together

Let's stay on topic here, especially since this started as a joke and we can all agree that Murph will never be a coach here, he likes the analyst life and seems better suited for front office work anyway if he ever wanted to be involved first hand again, as opposed to being a coach... which I don't think he does - He seems pretty happy with the laid-back, hot-dog and beer filled life he can have doing analysis...

Players Worth the Price of Admission

    1. Anna Kournikova 2. Jennie Fitch 3. Amanda Beard 4. Maria Sharapova oh wait, we're going off athletic ability?

    Janne Lahti

and although I can see where that would be frustrating for Ilari and considering his age, he isn't exactly going to develop a whole lot more... he still only gave it a single season... had he stuck with the organization this season, I bet he would have seen NHL action and then for the 2012-2013 season, who knows? I am going to defer to those who know more and according to what everyone is saying about Lahti, seems that he isn't worth it...

    Janne Lahti

As long as he's willing to put in the work ethic, pay his dues in the AHL and EARN a spot on the roster... I. Flip did pretty well, but even he wasn't willing to wait his turn, so to speak and Leino was flat out a primadona, so I'd be a little skeptical of him, but give the circumstances were right (cheap, 2-way deal and he has to EARN a roster spot) why the hell not? I admittedly know nothing about Lahti, so I'll take your word for it... maybe Holland wants to re-unite them in GR, haha

He's done... he needs to just collect his paycheck to sit home and when it runs out, retire... he's a shell and can't stay healthy...

Babcock Interview + Jagr to Detroit Rumor

ORRRRRRR maybe we need MORE Hudler-Fedorov-Jagr Markov-Karel

    Chris Drury

I think your assessment is pretty dead on, I just think a lot of people would be up in arms if it happened, not that it would mean we made the wrong move... if Holland decides that is what is best for the team, it is... also, Leino is the perfect comparison, he needed to be moved and we're better without him, but look how many people still bitched about that move... it's just something to think about... How does every thread here become about Hudler lately? And I'm not saying you're at fault here for this one, just pointing out the trend in ALL threads lately... I'm pretty convinced that a thread about our Grand Rapids Goaltending coach could somehow come back to Hudler (or Ericsson) at this point... ok, ok, back on track - I really think Drury's best years are behind him and there are a ton of guys I would want here over him, but at a major discount, on a one year deal, I wouldn't hate the gamble on him...
