Message Board=Opinions. As I already covered, it has nothing to do with it being the "newest and coolest", it has to do with expecting more for my entertainment dollar. period. The Palace is over 30 years old, but is still a legit venue at least... call me all the names you want, I think it's sad that so many people are willing to accept such a poor arena, just because of the team in it, even when that team is the best professional sports franchise in the world... expect more. Also, I turned down tickets to round 1 last year because they were upper bowl.

fair enough and I apologize for putting words in your mouth then, so to speak... I just think people make too many excuses for the Joe based off the quality of team we have playing there and as long as they're still at the Joe, you are correct, I would would rather stay home and watch the games, no excuses about it, just simply put. thank you! No, you're going to an NHL game, where tickets are going to cost you damn near $100 (or more)for a pair of tickets and overpriced concessions... it's not wrong to expect your money's worth and complacency and accepting less is part of the problem... It doesn't even have to be state of the art per se, but the building shouldn't be falling apart and the seats barely large enough to fit a 5'9, 160lb guy, let alone many of our much larger citizens in this area, you should get what you pay for and that is not JUST on the ice.

What do you mean "get to"? Unless you're 4'5", you can't sit in those seats anyway...

Fair enough, maybe I'm just getting old, haha I just can't rationalize spending my entertainment dollar for the hassle it entails to watch a game there anymore, I have MANY fond memories there and will always cherish them and what the Joe was, it's just become so dilapidated, that I'd almost rather stop going before the great memories are sullied with piss poor memories... the parking and "tunnel" are a mess too, I have gotten into one altercation and almost gotten into several more because of drunk idiots running over kids and pushing in there... between the horns, sure it's fine, but all the crap that falls in between those horns are what has put me off...

you're going to question my fandom based off of that?!?!? I take an annual trip to GR to watch the Griffins at Van Andel (side note - it's pretty sad when your AHL arena BLOWS AWAY your NHL arena), I watch every single game, stream SEL and SM-Liga games to watch our other prospects online, and have been to over 100 games at the Joe... my point is, I am not going to pay money to support a venue that I think needs to go away anymore, the live game experience is not JUST the product on the ice, but the environment too and the Joe is a hole these days... I am simply not going to accept "bare minimum" anymore for my entertainment dollar, when I can watch the game in HD on my 52 inch LCD in my cushy chair, with my bottled micro-brew beer and my bathroom 20 feet away, without dealing with the crowd OR the traffic, just to go to a s*** arena...

Unless you're in the first 10 rows of the upper bowl, it's not great... Personally, I won't even go to the Joe anymore unless I'm in the lower bowl, the seats are too crammed up top, the concourse sucks and the bathrooms are a disaster... last season I vowed to not go to another game until they get a new arena...

yes, he had a HORRIBLE start, but more than a quarter of the season since - look at the numbers: Over the last 22 games: 22GP 5G 14A 19P +5 Some people will continue to hate him, but as was touched on in last nights telecast, Cleary, Datsyuk and Hudler have developed some amazing chemistry and that pass last night to Dats was pure beauty... Hate all you want, but it's really starting to look like the guy just needed to get back up to NHL speed, and he has been one of our best players over the last 20+ games...

The day I heard about the surgery, I said I thought Osgood's career was over and my opinion hasn't changed - I think this is just another case of the Wings brass being smart and knowing that if they make it obvious they have a need, then they need to overpay... instead, they have Osgood play along and pretend he's coming back, even though they know he's not and he knows he's not and then they can make a quiet, under the radar move that won't cost us a ton and bring in a serviceable back-up, then Osgood announces his retirement in the off-season. EDIT - plus, if he retires now, we get hit with his caphit and no roster player, whereas if we LTIR him for the season, we get cap relief for him and can exceed the cap by his value, while freeing up the roster spot... seems to me like Osgood is just "taking one for the team" like the great team guy he has been his whole career
