I love it, simple and classy... I do agree that some black and silver accents would have been nice though... at the same time, I didn't really think they needed a new one, but at least it's a good new design

He's been a very good signing with money not factored and he's been a GREAT signing when you factor in his caphit... A steadying force on the back end that can play more situations and minutes when needed, but fills the #6 role perfect... I have been very happy with him and would welcome him back with open arms for next season...
-
He just has to report by March for the season to count, correct? If I were Nabby, I'd just hold out until Feb 28th, then report... then become a UFA in the off season and sign with Detroit

Weber is one hell of a player, but there is about .00000000000000000000000001% chance of him wearing the red and white anytime soon... it's a fun thought, but lets stay realistic here

One of the most important lessons one can learn in life is this: You can't cure stupid.

Odd signing... maybe they just didn't want to have to deal with an extension this year, as they basically just extended his current deal... that 700k extra almost strikes me as a "we're not sure if this is a long term fit, but aren't sure yet - so take a slight raise and we'll figure this out next year"

Ding. ding. ding - Milbury will undoubtedly go down as the worst GM in NHL history, he was to the NHL, what Matt Millen is to the NFL

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See
stevkrause replied to Louisville's topic in General
wow, I expected more of Scotty... as so many others have already touched on, the only one that's any good is the removal of the trapezoid, but that one has been an abortion from day one... How about these 5 instead: 1. Removal of trapezoid - speaks for itself(safety of defensemen, more offense, lets goalies generate outlet passes, etc) 2. Goalies outside of their crease are fair game - if a player collides with a goalie outside of his crease, there is no goaltender interference or penalty, same if he leaves the crease to play the puck (just be prepared to get jumped by the opposing team if someone throws a hit, or takes the goalie out on purpose) 3. 10 min 4v4 OT, followed by 5 man shootout - point total of games adjusted accordingly (3 for reg/ot win, 2 for SO win, 1 for SO loss, 0 for reg/ot win - ALL GAMES WORTH SAME TOTAL) - PLAYOFFS STILL SUDDEN DEATH OT UNTIL WINNER 4. Puck leaving the zone for whistle on delayed penalty - puck must clear the offensive zone after a penalty on a delayed call (generates more offense and extends PP essentially) 5. Removal of instigator rule in final minute - call it in cases it applies ALL game, not just final minute and suspensions then handed out after 3 instigators, not automatically just because one was "in the final minute of the game" (repeat offenders get additional games) Done and done. -

oh, yay, another one of these threads!
-
Pretty much summed it up - Cooke is a waste of human flesh, whereas Savard was one hell of a player and to have the latter's career ended by the former is disgusting... there are few players I despise in the league more than Cooke...

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/01/red_wings_pavel_datsyuk_gets_i.html  The better news of this whole story, is that he is practicing in full and expected back after the ASG as previously speculated
-
His wit is only matched by his ability to dangle!
-
haha, it was indeed a pretty complex equation! Silly Hudles... I just can't hate the guy, his play early on really frustrated me, but he's just so damn likable and he's picked his play up as of late!
-
I'm not defending the rule, I think it's idiotic on all accounts and I'm not even saying he should be suspended under the current guidelines, but the fact that no one from the NHL head offices is even objecting to his missing of the ASG IS a double standard, and there's no way to say it isn't... all reports are that he will be cleared for workouts by this weekend, which means, he'd be just fine to sit in a seat for a meet and greet and that's what all the hullabaloo was about. period. Once again - BEATING A DEAD HORSE - I am NOT SAYING I THINK HE SHOULD BE SUSPENDED, OR FORCED TO BE THERE... just pointing out the inconsistency of the league...
-
uh huh, uh huh, I agree 100%! um... what?
-
Guess I should have title this differently, since the other thread about him returning to practice as the main sticking point is getting more attention - mods, please merge
-
It's not like it is fresh, or that it was a compound concussion and all signs, of all reports, point to him being cleared for workouts by this weekend - It's not like he's confined to bedrest... once again, as I've said ad nauseum, I'm not saying he should have to show up, play, or even sit in a chair and sign autographs, the guy was/is hurt and has a good reason to not be there, but lets not go too far in the other direction of defending him, you make it out to be like he's on his death bed... and, yes, it still is a double standard when it comes to the festivities and not the game.

In reality, the best thing Snow and the Islanders could do, from a personnel and PR standpoint to save face and maybe even obtain an asset out of this whole ordeal, would be to try and trade him... Worse case scenario, Nabokov gets claimed via waivers again and best case scenario, they get a pick or prospect out of the deal... Either way, he was a "free" asset in the first place, that has no intention of playing for them anyway and at least this way, Snow's not the bad guy anymore... this would also force Nabby's hand to report to wherever else he got claimed by, unless he wants to get a bad tag and would likely keep bottom feeders from making a claim the second time around... that is, if they were smart... haha, perfect.
-
In reality, this poll could go forever, but it is alarming that several of the prime candidates aren't listed... Bettman, Pronger, Tootoo, Thornton, etc, etc...
-
coached by McCrimmon?
-
EXACTLY.
-
ok, you're clearly just messing with me by this point... That's not the point I was making though, I was basically just playing Devil's Advocate... once again, not to beat a dead horse, but I don't think ANY player should be required to participate in the ASG if injured, regardless of the severity of the injury - I was just pointing out the inconsistency...
-
Am I in the Twilight Zone here... how does everyone keep continually glossing over the guts of my post?!?
-
I don't see an option for Bettman does. not. compute.
