ASG Starter "to stay home" due to injury

Here, let me try this again, since you seemed to miss it the first time...

    NHL ASG Entertainment to Suck

I can't help it, I'm still going to have to watch the team picking and the skills competitions, but those two things are the only SHRED of airtime I will dedicate to this debacle...

ASG Starter "to stay home" due to injury

They were suspended for not showing up, not for not playing... just because he's injured, doesn't mean he can't show up for the festivities... if that was their stance last year when Lids and Dats got suspended, it should be their stance this year too... the league can't just arbitrarily hand our punishment without maintaining consistency - THAT is part of what makes them such a Mickey Mouse league when it comes to their leadership... EDIT - for the record, I don't think any player should be suspended for staying home if they are injured, it's just the double standard I am pointing out...

    NHL ASG Entertainment to Suck

The NHL marketing department needs a house cleaning and they need a whole new crop, because this current one is clearly disconneted and broken... also, I can't believe Stan Lee agreed to do this and I wonder how much they paid him to make a mockery of the league?

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Nabby's playoff history(and Kipper's as well) I think can be attributed to poor goaltending management over the course of a season... you can't expect a guy to start 65+ games a season and be fresh come playoffs... As for Hasek, it's an apples to oranges scenariom because he was a proven playoff performer and short of one of the most questionable goal calls in NHL history, already should have had a cup when he came here... In theory, he could report near seasons end, but I'm pretty sure that the deadline for that is closer to early March, than the end of the season... doesn't it have something to do with dates that the final payment of contracts are made or something - anyone with more concrete insight and maybe a source on this to confirm?

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

It sure sounds like the Islanders are going to retain his rights... http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-islanders-nabokov That's a pretty dick move to claim a player that never wanted to sign with you in the first place and then not give him a chance to go elsewhere... can't look good to other players for management to operate that way... If Snow was smart(to save face and maybe get something out of the deal), he would try and trade him and if Nabokov gets claimed via waivers again, so be it - he was a "free" asset in the first place, that has no intention of playing for them anyway... and at least this way, he's not the bad guy anymore... this would also force Nabby's hand to report to wherever else he got claimed by, unless he wants to get a bad tag and would likely keep bottom feeders from making a claim the second time around...
  7. I wish he would get a GM job, so he'll get off my TV... preferably for a team I hate, so he can run them into the ground and then it's a two-for

Trade for a new back up?

Your entire take on this entire thread is asinine - This was, and has been, nothing more than a discussion on the "what ifs" - Something that message boards are intended for... With half the other crap that flies on this board that is actually out in left field and almost merits no discussion, this topic is actually legit and worth, if nothing else, DISCUSSING Just as Maltby was "coming back" last year, Osgood has now had his groin operated on twice and is a GOALIE, to just assume he WILL be back is ignorant and closed minded... Furthermore, no one in this thread has even even hinted that Holland "sell the farm" for a backup, so to say it has ANY connection to a "one and done" move is ridiculous, it would most likely be a low pick and/or low level prospect in exchange for a BACKUP goalie, we're not looking for a young Martin Brodeur in his prime here... If you want nothing to do with a thread, ignore it, but your continual take on this topic has been myopic at best and has added nothing of context to this thread...

Trade for a new back up?

Unfortunately, the best options on that list (of the guys that would actually be available) I don't see being traded here because of the in conference aspect (Conklin, Garon) and pretty much everyone else on that list that would really even be available, I don't see worth trading for and giving up assets... To be honest, I'd just as soon rather see them go out and pick up someone like Valiquette, Dubliwitz(sp?) or even bring back Manny Legace over giving up assets via a trade, unless they can land a very legit backup on the cheap, which I just don't see being available with what's out there...

and there it is... I don't know why he'd report there...

    Patrick Eaves Watch Thread.

I think he realizes that he's found a home here and is grateful that we've resurrected his career - I think he can be had long term at a hit of 2-2.5 a year or less, depending on how they structure it... and for a guy who can score 20, kill penalties and fill any of the 4 lines roles asked of him AND PP time if needed (basically any role he's asked to play) - it would be well worth it...

and now this - http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php/topic/68124-jordan-pearce-recalled-from-gr-jmac-sent-down/page__gopid__2101895#entry2101895 I'm done with all this speculating, see you all tomorrow, I'm out...

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

ah, what a simpler time, when all it took was risking lives of families, dark ops and a boatload of money to get a player... damn CBA and the end of the Cold War ruining everything!

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Well, if this whole fandango did nothing else, it better educated us all on the process of waiver acquisitions from players coming back from Europe and the mid-season signing waiver process as a whole... crazy CBA...

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Both teams would just be doing it to screw the Wings though, any of those bottom feeders claim him and he won't report, so what I think it really comes down to, is teams that have a chance to win that legitimately want/need him, or teams that want to screw us - those are really the only ones we have to worry about...

That is a list of who is ahead of Washington, not us - Please refer back to the post this was in reply to -

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

I agree, but lets look at all the teams in the waiver order ahead of them (not in order) - NY Rangers Montreal Atlanta Carolina Buffalo Florida Toronto Ottawa NY Islanders New Jersey Nashville Phoenix Anaheim Chicago Colorado Minnesota San Jose St. Louis Los Angeles Columbus Calgary Edmonton Who else in that list could claim him outright without then HAVING to carry 3 goalies and/or make a subsequent move?

Not necessarily, the Capitals are the ones that scare me most in this scenario to be honest, heavy Russian contingent and Neuvirth still is waiver exempt and can be sent down without an issue and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Varlamov is still waiver exempt too... Plus, both goalies are young and this would be a veteran presence and probably good for Varlamov to learn from, plus they tried to sign him in the off-season but couldn't agree on $$ and isn't one of the 2 of them injured right now anyway?
