Wait... isn't 30 available now? Too soon? Seriously though, I wonder if he'd go with some weird number like 50 or something?
-
Please, most of his penalties are based on reputation and his turnovers have been minimal... plus, lets see, a big body on pace for 50 pts a season at less than 2m a year caphit, who was one of our ONLY guys to play all 82 games last year and hasn't missed any this year, plus a good guy in the locker room... yea, who wants that? back to the topic at hand... this doesn't need to be derailed, if you want to argue that Bert isn't pulling his weight, take it into another thread...
-
Why the hell would you want to get rid of Bertuzzi with how he's played for us and with his very modest caphit?!?! That would be asinine ... Lets get to the real important topic at hand that we're all overlooking... what number would he wear??
-
It is, that's why I said sneaky...
-
now THAT would be some sneaky, back room dealing - "hey, Lou, we're gonna sign this guy, but we know he may not clear other teams waivers, but NJ has first billing of waivers and no cap space... so, yea, do us a solid and claim him and we will instantly trade you a pick for him, so you get a pick basically for just helping us out"
-
yea, and what would they do with Conklin? I'd rather have Nabby, but I'd take Conklin back with open arms too... plus, didn't Conklin have a NMC? EDIT - Just checked, Conklin has a standard contract...
-
Ozzie can retire at years end... he'd need to LTIR for the remainder of the year this year while still being "active" otherwise, the caphit messes us up...
-
Not at all, VERY different situation, Ozzie is likely done for year/career and Nabby would be a backup, knowing his role coming in, just with a chance to unseat Jimmy if he falters - Keeps Nabby hungry and Jimmy sharp - win/win
-
Name ONE in the last decade that has pulled that workload and won a cup short of Brodeur? Better yet, name ONE that's done that in the last decade that was over 30... it IS irresponsible for a team to play a goalie that much and expect him to be fresh come playoffs...
-
Agreed... Mursak, Tatar, IFlip, Emmerton, Axelsson, the list goes on and on, we had too many players and not enough spots, Ritola didn't prove worth keeping, so he put him through waivers and worst case scenario, he cleared and went to GR, but the Wings organization was not in his long term future either way...
-
Doesn't have to mean that at all... he can be a backup/1b option... if anything it tells me that they're not too high on Ozzie returning...
-
ding, ding... and his agent could still play hardball too and put out a feeler to other teams that A. If anyone claims him, he'll retire and B. If they piss off the agent, he'll make them pay later when it comes to signing another one of his clients... Never underestimate that as well... this rumor is starting to pick up serious steam if it is on the Wings official page...
-
haha, that's amazing!
-
Right now, as long as the numbers are right, they could, in theory, LTIR Osgood for the rest of the year and he could slide in there without making another move...
-
Wow, this would be amazing if it went down, I just don't see him clearing waivers... maybe his agent plays some hardball that he will retire if anyone else claims him, haha
-
there have been quite a few actually, so I'll just give the best and worst of the list... Best - Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman, both incredibly nice, engaging and humble and EXACTLY what you would expect of them Close runner up - Mickey Redmond, also very nice and funny Worst - **DISCLAIMER** - This has LONG since been forgiven and I hold nothing against him and actually met him again years later and he made up for it... Bob Probert - This was in the late 80's/early 90's period, I was only a kid and it wasn't even night yet, we went to a local bar and grill after a hockey game and he was there with Kocur and some other guys, they were all clearly drunk (and probably coked up too) and he was very abrasive, rude and seemed like he wanted to fight everyone at the place... in retrospect, I realize this was a dark period in his life and I met him again in the early 00's and he was very quiet, humble and polite
-
Great news there, MacDonald looked shaky and unsure about his decisions last night, made a couple good saves too, but that first goal was pretty deflating... If Osgood is indeed done for the year as many reports are suggesting, Holland needs to go out and get a competent veteran backup... I wonder what Manny Legace is up to
-
In Burke's defense... he drinks a lot...
-
I think even more telling is that he doesn't have a SINGLE + game posted all season... best is a 0 and worst is a -3 http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/gamelog/?id=2855 22GP 0G 1A +/- -19 What a signing!
-
The way it was worded, it came across that way... I agree that McCrimmon should be replaced and never thought he should have gotten the job in the first place and I would gladly welcome McClellan back, but I wonder if Babs would take him back? He'd more than likely be looking for another head coaching gig anyway
-
This is about the 4th time I've seen this on this board... McClellan didn't handle the D, he handled the Offense and PP when he was here and MacClean handled the D and PK and MacClean took over the forwards when McClellan left...
-
He's really racking up the frequent flier miles, that's a lot of moving around... The guy wasn't tearing it up in Atlanta, but he wasn't doing horribly either and he's a pretty solid 4th liner, possible 3rd liner in the right situation... he must have been butting heads with coaching or management there...
-
That'd be weird, especially since I just always assumed that Drew Miller would be our emergency goalie... I mean it's gotta be somewhat in the blood, right?
-
I would go to the skills competition, but wouldn't spend the money on the game itself... the actual games have become almost un-watchable in the last several years and are kinda a joke in my opinion With that said, as was already touched on, if this is something YOU want to do, then do it, it's your money and your decision, so follow your gut...
-
I bash on the guy constantly, and constantly laugh at the signing, but I agree with you in the sense that I don't hate the guy and was kinda pulling for him to prove me wrong... with that said, the reality is, that it was probably the 2nd worst signing of the 2010 off season - He's a fringe NHL'er/spare part at best and should only get league minimum and probably a revolving bus pass to and from the minors...
