How do you think the Wings will do without Dats?
stevkrause replied to #19=Legend's topic in General
Rivalred from the slot... and he scores! :siren: One of the most quality replies of the year! -
not a huge surprise, they've been horrible this year... Lemaire is not the answer there either though, especially for the way the team has been constructed with Kovalchuk's bloated contract... they have one of two choices the way I see it - embrace what they have with Parise, Langenburner, Kovalchuk, etc and change to a run and gun team or try and unload Kovalchuk's ridiculous contract and go back to a defense first team... They should probably call up Pat Quinn and see what he's up to these days... I think he'd be a good fit there

He's such a huge part of the team in all situations and such an impact player, that you don't lose a guy like that and just chug along, especially considering that only 4 of our next 15 games are at home and we have a VERY tough schedule over these next 4 weeks... it's going to hurt us... bad... with that said, we have enough depth and talent elsewhere that the sky is not falling, but I think realistically, we should not expect more than about a .500 team with him gone... and even that I would consider a bonus all factors considered... -
As I've said all along and prior to this season... they need to lock up Eaves long term, he is the type of player teams need to win championships and should become a fixture here for the next decade...
-
Pretty cheesy, but they basically got to pull out all the stops and if it sells more tickets, more power to them... I'm not gonna lie, I chuckled a little bit at the concept...
-
Although you're point is on, I don't EVER remember Babs playing Ericsson on forward
-
I'll give them one thing, they were consistent and didn't play favorites, but tonights game was one of the worst displays of officiating since the lock out... they missed countless blatent penalties (both ways) all night...
-
You're flat wrong - I'd say at least 50% of the missed calls greatly affected the game... Salei broke up a great scoring chance with a blatant interference on Sharp, Boynton flat out hog tied Zetterberg down low when he beat him to the outside driving the net, Franzen got away with a blatant interference against the D (can't remember which player) when Chicago could have kept the puck in the zone and they were pressing hard and Seabrook flat out tripped Fil when he beat him cutting to the net... those are obvious penalties preventing SCORING opportunities... I didn't say it was EXACTLY the same as the 90's, but it's a slippery slope when they start letting THAT s*** go... consistency doesn't just apply from period to period, it applies to game from game and season from season - They need consistency

At least there are some people in this thread with some common sense...
-
A lot of you in this thread are f'ing idiots... LEARN TO READ - The ENTIRE context of this thread was that it was a poor showing by the officials, I in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM said it is what cost the Wings the game, and as a matter of fact I made it QUITE clear that it was evenly called and they did not favor either side, that does not make it GOOD, or even OK... and to all of you that want to go back to 1993 clutch and grab, go eat a d*ck... watch the 2008 and 2009 playoffs and HONESTLY try and say that the mid 90's was better hockey - you idiots are what damn near killed our game and caused ratings and attendance to bottom out and the LAST thing the league needs is to return to it... Last night was a flat out joke BOTH ways. Period.

With the season more than a third over and a pretty clear idea of what our team is/will be, what does everything think the odds are that Holland makes a move at the deadline? I personally think it is almost certain, but on a different level than trades have been in the past - As the payout for trades seems to be better at the deadline than in the off season and considering how many young assets we have that are not playing or not playing enough AND contracts coming up (Kindl, Pyett, possibly Larsen's rights, maybe Axelsson), I expect Holland to trade away a couple of those assets and possibly Hudler for some picks... I personally do not see Holland making a move for a roster player this year, as I think our team is pretty set with what we have for a deep and successful run and if anything, we need to shed some pieces, not add... Just my 2 cents...

Realistically - Chances that Holland makes a deadline move?

I suppose I could have abbreviated the whole title: REALS - Chances-Holland-move-deadline? Makes enough sense, right? -

Side note - if a title is too long, why does the board let you post it, shouldn't it cut it off, so you know what title you're posting? That's my exact thinking... I think Kindl needs a change of scenery since he's likely not going to get much of a shot here (especially with Smith, Lashoff, Nicastro, Almqvist, etc... in the pipeline) and since he was a 1st round pick and has only played part of the year here, plus is still relatively young, we could realistically get some decent return for him, especially if packaged... -
hmm... I guess I didn't look at the stats closely enough, I just remember seeing them both looking decent on NHL network and in highlights and coupled with the fact that they are above .500, made me think it wasn't that bad, but those are pretty bad numbers for both of them who knows, maybe he'd be a decent fit there...

money can only buy so much... leaving behind ones family isn't easy and at some point in most players careers, doesn't become worth it anymore and that doesn't even compare to leaving them for the entire season, not just a 2 week road trip
-
Their tandem of Ellis/Smith is doing fine and both of them have improved their game as of late, they'll both get their GAA down and SV% up... Didn't his family stay back in the states? I gotta imagine that has some impact...
-
And you just proved why that sentiment is wrong in your own statement... what an asinine statement... Fair enough, its all opinion, and I'm in no way deminishing Orr's ability... I don't know why everyone looks at it that way, if anything it just shows how highly I think of Lids... and back to the topic at hand, that just shows how and why he's the only no-brainer for number retirement on the team....
-
Arguably, because he is THE best of all time... there is always a lot of debate about this, but I would put Orr behind Lidstrom on said list...
-
For the Wings, it's a simple answer - If it can even be debated, the answer is no. 19 and 5 are the only two of this era that belong there...
-
It is pretty sad how uptight our society is about political correctness...
-
ahhhh... he's known to be pretty good friends with Kevin Weekes, so I HIGHLY doubt there's anything more (even Freudian) to it than just tripping over his words, but yea, that's gotta be embarrassing...
-
Can someone give me a rundown of what he said and what happened? I'm on my phone and have a weak signal, so I'm not able to stream the video to it...
-
where did half this thread go?
-
and I'm sure you two will have beautiful children, but the real question is, will all of LGW be invited to the wedding?
-
Real about what? The numbers are what they are... as I already said earlier in this thread, I'm not saying Price is bad, I'm just doing exactly that, getting real here... mindfly likes to annoint Price the golden goose every chance he gets and I'm just pointing out the facts...
