Any player can most certainly stay home and eat pizza, this is a free country... now, they may get fined by the team and "suspended" without pay while they do so, but a holdout would be, by no means, something new to sports... it's much less prevalent in the NHL and it doesn't do a lot for a player in the terms of their reputation, but the option is always there and from the sounds of how upset Ryan is becomming with the way they've handled him, I wouldn't say it's impossible he would choose to do so... unlikely, yes, but not impossible...
-
I definitely don't hate either of those options... I worry about Barker's consistency, whereas you'd know what you are getting with Vandermeer or Jurcina and Rozsival's best days seem to be behind him and he can't seem to stay healthy, so I'd be a little weary of him, but when healthy, he'd be a decent addition... like I said, I don't hate either of those options, I'd just prefer Vandermeer or Jurcina...
-
He only has two years left... We could obtain him and still have more than enough to make a move next year, but he would help us this year... I also think he would thrive here and probably grow into that contact here, he's been on horrible teams that don't fit his style, and I think we'd all be very pleasantly surprised by him here... With all that said, I still don't think this is a route we should go, I just wouldn't mind it if we did
-
I was actually referring to Ryan, but I agree with you Ooooooohhhh... now THAT'S intriguing... I think Ryan is a better option than Nash, if for no other reason than the fact that Howson is nuts
-
They'd be smart to trade him for a reasonable return before he demands a trade and threatens to sit out, because that's almost the direction I see this going... and the day that occurs, the offers go down...

Although Andersson has made great strides, there's zero chance he earns a spot on this roster, unless we are ravaged by injuries, he's simply too far down the depth chart, as he should be currently, due to all the reasons you already stated... Fil is top 6, no doubt.... As for Boumeester, he is WITHOUT a doubt overpaid - luckily, we have a ton of cap space and nothing to do with it... for the right price, I would gladly take him on here, as I think he would thrive here... with that said, I still think signing a big, shut down d-man for the 3rd pairing (Vandermeer or Jurcina) is the better choice... give some of the young guys a chance to prove themselves, including Kindl (I also think he's a lot better than most give him credit for) and see where it takes us, I think people would be pleasantly surprised...

Haha, sorry, the lack of quality posts/rational posts on here have me in a VERY literal sense on this board lately... I'm fed up with people being ungrateful turds towards the best GM in professional sports, just because the last year + hasn't gone as well as his previous 15...
-
if only some of our own on this board were this salient...
-
Yea, he trades when it makes sense... Say what you mean and mean what you say...

Ha, he hasn't signed anywhere yet, that's irrelevant to this topic and your continued desire to do nothing more on this board, than agitate, is getting old... -
Slava Kozlov says hello, as does Anders Erikson... Let's not even get started on the players Holland acquired via trade (Hasek, Larionov, Murphy, Stuart, etc, etc, etc) But let's not let facts get in the way...
-
The longer this drags on, the more I think this plan makes the most sense... Kronwall-White Ericsson-Quincey Smith-Vandermeer Kindl Looks good to me... Not great, but good enough...

There are very few guys in the NHL I would like to see in the Winged Wheel more!

Logan Pyett Signs With the Rangers

I don't know much about him, so I can't personally comment on him, that's the only reason I didn't include him... -

Agreed completely -

Defensive depth is an area we've been lacking, most of that young talent is up front... with that said, I still feel pretty good about Oulette, Sproul, Backman, Lashoff and Almqvist to name a few... although a few of them are still a little ways away from being impacts in GR, let alone Detroit... that's where our GR depth gets hurt, it sounds odd to say you need a "veteran" prescence in the AHL, but they do have their place and guys like Janik, or Exelby are very valuable down there, not just for a steadying prescence, but also as an emergency call up... -

Seriously man, not every thread needs to be about this... -

They sure did, however, unlike Pyett, he is actually a serviceable fringe NHL player, Pyett will never be anything more than a mediocre at best AHL player... -

Good riddance... I've had a chance to watch him in GR a few times live, and a bit more on TV and in pre-season games during camp as well... the guy is a SIEVE, he makes Lebda look like a shutdown d-man... he's fast and has decent offense instincts, it's just too bad that his defense is horrendous... something rather important to playing the position of, you know, defense... -
Agreed. I have been a very strong detractor of Semin, as I don't like his attitude, but at one year, why the hell not? zero risk, high reward potential. If he wants a long deal, then hell no, but at one year, or even 2, I'd take a flier on him... I still maintain though - if we get him, be prepared to see a new whipping boy here, because hot damn will he take some shifts off...
-
This hasn't been confirmed yet that he's signed with them and until it is confirmed by a valid source, it is still nothing more than a rumor... I would take a flier on a one year deal too by the way, even with his INCREDIBLY questionable character...
-
We're better off, as I said before:
-
anyone who'd rip you for that suggestion is a fool based on skill alone, he'd be a great addition here... The only hangup I see, is that he's on the Hurricanes... With the hated between Illitch and Karmanos, I can't see a deal between the Wings and Canes happening, but I like where your head is at...
-
Why are we even talking about this? We just ran a guy out of town in Hudler, who (although less gifted) gave more effort and played with more grit than Semin ever has, and that doesn't say much... yet he took SOO much flak for being lazy and soft... if you don't like lazy and soft, your head would explode with Semin here... he is the exact type of player we don't need... and before anyone even says it, points only count when you actually score them, want to look at that stat sheet and remind yourself the last time he put up 40 goals and/or a 60+ point season? Oh yea, and lets not forget the stunning playoff performances he's had the last few years as well... This board is so bi-polar sometimes it's mind blowing....
