About time! Now all they need to do, is fix the point format connected to it and we have gold
-
If that was what you were contesting, then why are you arguing my posts, when that is NEVER what I suggested in the first place and in a beligerent manner at that? Next, just as one game does not make a player, just because a player excels at one apect of the game and accepts that role with dignity, as a team player, does not mean that said role is ALL they are capable of.

Weak argument and you know it... the point through the entire debate here, was that he be given a look here and there and given a chance to show IF he can do more, never that he be given top 6 minutes overnight or uncontested... and so far, he's done that. Period.
-
You just answered your own question before you asked it.

So... what was that all the naysayers were saying about Eaves not belonging on a wing with Dats and Z?? Apparently Babs thought it was worth enough of a look to try it for several shifts tonight and he looked pretty damn comfortable to me, you know, with the line scoring our only even strength goal and all...
-
I thought we were back on this thread, not the one from the summer... I suggested that Eaves be given a look here and there and in turn, spell Holmstrom a few even strength minutes by bumping Eaves up for a couple shifts, that is what I was regarding -
-
No one here is advocating that he automatically be given top line minutes, merely that he should be considered and maybe put out for a shift or two here and there and give him a chance to see what he can do... and no, he is not Holmstrom and their game is pretty different, my point is, you don't know what you have in a guy, until he's at least given a chance to see what he can do... if he doesn't earn more shifts with the top 6 after a couple random shifts here and there, then you don't give him any more chances, but what would it hurt to try? and yes, he is fast enough and yes, his shot is good enough... it's not a mistake that he scored 20 goals in this league at one time... Over simplification of several statements which stated that he should be given more of a look, which was not that cut and dry in the first place, taken to be saying the guy is the next coming of Pavel Bure in his prime On LGW it sure does.

Same thing was said about Holmstrom 10 years ago...
-
hell, I took a ton of slack when I suggested several different times, that he should be given a serious look at the point on the PP for the righty-lefty combo that Babs loves so much...
-
I guarantee I was not one of those that tore you apart... I've always loved Eaves upside...
-
It's also a travel day game, followed by another travel day game in Phoenix on Saturday... I'll bet regardless of the result, after this game at Dallas, Howard gets 2+ consecutive starts....
-
You can't play forever in the regular season, it makes absolutely zero sense with travel schedules, TV contracts and overall player breakdown over an 82 game schedule... 4-4 for 10 minutes followed by a SO Win in Regulation/OT - 3pts Win in SO - 2pts Loss in SO - 1pt All games worth same pt total... Done and done... If people REALLY want to hold onto the ridiculous 2pt system for nostalgia's sake - here's a compromise I could live with, but I still don't think it emphasizes winning as a team enough and it still makes some games worth a different total cumulative point total (which I don't like and think ALL games should be worth the same total point value) Win in Regulation/OT - 2pts Win in SO - 1pt Loss - 0pts

I love this thread for two reasons - the title "the BFF" line and for the Scrubs reference Someone needs to photoshop a picture of the three of them celebrating after a goal with a tag line like "BFF's, like forever!"
-
For sure, this is the strongest 4 lines top to bottom we've had since the salary cap... it's exciting!
-
They'll gel, give them a few games, they're already looking more comfortable together, but the fact that they didn't get to play together in the preseason and this is Modano's first year with the team, means there will be some learning curve... It doesn't help adjusting to new d-men either... Kindl should have been backing off and let Hudler take the puck uncontested on the turnover that led to Colorado's 3rd(I'm pretty sure it was the 3rd) goal... it's bad enough when you've got to worry about the other team fighting you for the puck, let alone your own teammates...
-
For the record... the 3 point system would fix the SO record deviations... http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php/topic/54666-current-point-system-is-badly-flawed/ just sayin...

I think that line as a whole has hands down been our best line this season... I really hope they all stay healthy all season and if they do, that line could give all 3 of them career years... and dare I say it... maybe even a 50 goal year out of Mule...
-
Zetterberg, for all the skills he has, is just not very good at the shootout for some reason... I think Babs needs to change it up, as it's just not working... 1. Filppula 2. Hudler 3. Datsyuk 4. Franzen 5. Modano 6. Bertuzzi 7. Cleary 8. Zetterberg 9. Miller 10. Eaves from there, fill it out in any order you want, as the odds of a SO going past 10 rounds is pretty unlikely...
-
Agreed... that was one of, if not THE worst contract of the off-season... and that factors in the Boogard deal...
-
I think you're on the right track with this thought, but a little off... I think Eaves has all the skill and ability to play a top line role, plus one hell of a shot... I wouldn't have a problem at all with Eaves getting a FEW shifts here and there with the top unit and Holmstrom's minutes reduced, but this should not be a constant... Maybe distribute the minutes as so: ZDH - 16mins ZDE - 6mins Homer still all PP time and Eaves killing penalties, plus his 4th line minutes as normal... essentially what this would end up doing with minute distribution would be getting Holmer's minutes down a little on 5-5 and saving his legs and giving Eaves a shot to show what he can do, while giving him a few more minutes a game...

ugh... not good...

Injuries is one of the only times that age is a relative factor... The sad fact is, that in the game of hockey you WILL get injured, it's not IF, it's when... well, combine those "whens" over time and the compound effect of those injuries take their toll... that is something that you cannot avoid with age, as it is a simple matter of playing longer and being exposed to more injuries... The effects of 20 injuries over time, takes a lot more toll and is a LOT harder to come back from, then 2 or 3 over a shorter period of time... and this IS a result of age.

oh man... this is gonna be all season isn't it? There's a proper way of developing players and using their waiver exemption days early, before they're needed is not it... He needs to log major minutes in the AHL ALL season and even in the event of a completely decimated defense corps, the guys that have put in their time deserve call ups before him - Call up order: Janik Pyett Kolosov THEN Smith No need to rush him to the NHL, he'll get his chance next season, or the year after...
-
exactly.

That's not really accurate, it depends on the nature of the scope... some, if minor enough, will only require 3-5 days, whereas some scopes take a guy out for up to 3 weeks... hopefully it's closer to the former
