hmm... that's kinda Babs pulling a wildcard... shows how much he thinks of Janik... I still like the balance, one stay at home guy per pairing and one guy that can be offensive minded when needed on each...
-
This 100% - Everyone bitching about him "signing a contract" - What does it hurt to keep your options open?!?!? It was 2 way, so it doesn't count against the cap and maybe he didn't know he couldn't handle playing in the AHL until it was a reality... I'm just glad he's not playing anywhere else... one hell of a career and that front office role is just waiting for you Malts!

I would just guess: Lidstrom-Kronwall Stuart-Salei Kindl-Janik keep in mind, Janik-Kindl was a pairing used quite a bit in GR last year and they worked very well together... I would think there's a good chance Kindl even see's PP time with Raffi out...

Please check other threads before posting new ones - I know the topic title isn't exactly the same, but it's already covered here - http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php/topic/66975-red-wings-recall-janik-put-draper-on-ir/

uh oh... I was just assuming it was his back flaring up again... knees are always scary
-
Youre correct, LTIR only gives cap relief, short term does not. The Wing's still had approximately 600k in capspace, so they could make a call up as needed, the short term LTIR was just to free up the roster spot... This is why Holland wanted the cushion...
-
He was off to a hell of a start, that's for sure... however, if this is precautionary and it means him missing one or 2 games now, but saving him from missing 15 down the road with a more serious injury, because the needed rest was not taken... I'll gladly have him miss a couple now...

Teemu Pulkkinen is tearing it up with Helsinki Jokerit

He's also only 18 - skating ability can be taught... -
there it is - Rafalski probably out http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2010/10/red_wings_recall_defenseman_do_1.html this also sheds light on the IR - It was short term, so only 7 days and they made it retroactive, so this is likely a very short term change
-
I HIGHLY doubt that, don't let that -1 sway you, he looked very comfortable out there against Chicago...
-
Why would the article say that he will be in the lineup Tues(tonight) then? If anything, this makes me think another D-man is out as well...
-
yea, my thought too... the article says he will be in the lineup Tueday night... so which extra d-man other than E is out? Maybe Rafalski missing practice the other day was more than just a back tweak

and the Wings scouting staff does it again! -
I hate it - As was already covered, they need to grow the game here in America better, so why are they focusing revenue and travel overseas? I think if anything, they should do several opening games at neutral sites here in the States and Canada, that otherwise don't get NHL action... once the game is a top attraction here, then you can focus on overseas games...

That is how it is and will continue to be in the cap world - If a goalie wants to make big bucks, he better be able to stand on his head and better not expect a great D in front of him, whereas the winning formula is quite different - Modest dollars spent on goaltending, good chunk on a great d and the rest on offense, with an emphasis on at least 1 dynamic scoring line... defense wins championships.

Ericsson, Abdelkader & Draper remain sidelined

Abs will be an every night guy once he's healthy, with a fully healthy team, the fight for the last spot will be between Eaves and Miller night in and out, with the edge going to Eaves in my mind... -
At this stage in his life, he couldn't do it... I guarantee it... the man is a legend, simple and true, but his heart wouldn't be able to handle it...
-
you're kidding right?!?! Scotty is not in the best of health and is 77 years old... here, let me fix that for you -

Unfortunately, the odds of him ever getting his dues (Jack Adam's nominations) would have to come at the cost of the team having a horrible season, followed by a bounce back season. The league never recognizes teams that are consistently good (which is ridiculous, because if anything, that is a BETTER example of a great coach) and instead, always nominates teams that have break-out or comeback years... if getting us over 100pts last season with the injury decimated roster we had can't get him a nomination, I don't know what will... He'd probably have to coach them to the first even 82-0 season to get a nomination and he'd still probably lose to someone like Ron Wilson...
-
As long as he wants to be here, is as long as we should have him - The best coach in the game right now. This is great news!
-
yea, no kidding...
-
I gotta imagine there's no way the NHL touches this one, it's an extension to play for a team he's already on and it looks as though he actually gave them a pretty hefty "home-town" discount... he could have gotten upwards of 8 or 9 a year on the open market this summer... GREAT signing for Boston by the way
-
So... um, what happened with going back to the tach mask? Don't get me wrong, he's looked great through 2, but still...

how early should I show up to watch wings warm-up before game?
stevkrause replied to a topic in General
I would get to the arena no later than 6:15 for a 7:30 start... that gives you about 15 mins to make your way to your seats (or lower) and get a good eye of the warm-up
