I think of my 1,400ish posts, at least 1,350 were between 2002 and 2004. After that, college sorta changed priorities. The lockout probably didn't help either. :-/ I also probably just got sick of Gilly and Julie the Yzerman hater.

I'll be at the game in LA! I got enough tickets to drag 11 of my sorority sisters with me. Luckily our colors are red and white, so if you see a bunch of lovely ladies in greek letters, that's us!! (I'll have my jersey though). I'm going to try to make it there for the pre-game but with 12 girls it's pretty much impossible to be "early" to something.

Imagine liiving in Southern California. The local NBC (LA) affiliate showed the LA Marathon instead of a scheduled NHL game about a month ago. Although frustrated, I understood that the LA Marathon is important to SoCal residents. However, the next time NBC decided to show a hockey game, the LA station opted to show paid programming instead. Thank god for Center Ice (when I go to my parents' house) and live internet feeds (when I'm on campus).

I understand that. I guess from my view it's just frustrating because I was always "the hockey fan" while I lived there. Not that it was a bad thing, but whenever I'd mention that I liked hockey everyone would tell me that I was in California now and I liking hockey wasn't practical. Detroit does have bandwagon fans, I'm sure of that. However, from traveling to many different cities for games, I have to say that a huge majority of the fans that I meet are all Detroit transplants (like my family) who just want to keep watching hockey.

I was at that game. Once the Sharks scored two goals Detroit fell apart. Hasek fell apart the most, and Babs kept him in net way too long. I hope the Sharks aren't expecting that to happen again. That was a game that you move on from and forget about. The other losses, though, matter. However, all things said, this will be the first playoff series in a long time that Detroit is actually not "supposed" to win. Every series that they've lost recently, they flopped. Maybe the team will actually be READY to play. We'll see. I'd much rather them play Dallas en route to Anaheim or San Jose though.

After living in San Jose for 7 years, I really want to know where all of these Sharks fans are... I'm a very vocal hockey fan and even so, I only met about 4 hockey fans while living in San Jose (I'm in SoCal now). The Sharks fans (who actually go to the games) want to play Detroit because Detroit rarely plays well in San Jose. GO WINGS.

In the series, the MVP was Kipper. For the Wings, I'm glad we don't have one positive MVP. The team played well, that's enough. My props go to Franzen, although I wouldn't call him the MVP.

I agree that it's a big deal that the tickets aren't sold out... but comparing it to the Pistons is tough because the Pistons have been making it a lot farther than Detroit (edit... Red Wings). In the past few seasons the Pistons have made it to the Conference Finals, the NBA finals, won the Championship, and madeit to the Conference Finals the year before. The Wings, on the other hand, have only made it out of the first round once in the past 5 years. There is a different expecation. I guarentee that the Joe will be sold out once the town realizes that the team is for real.

People don't want to spends $$$ when everyone is figuring that Detroit won't make it through next week. Once the team starts rolling in the playoffs people will pay to see it live. I wonder if the TV ratings are down just as much? I'm assuming that people are still watching it... for free.

If they keep this play up then the next two months are going to be amazing. I LOVE SOPCAST.
