  1. Borsodi and Soproni Hungarian beers... though I've never been able to find them in America.

I actually went to a brewery in Vienna and had the best beer in my life. Unfortunately the beer was so good that I don't remember the name of the actual brewery, I just know it was like candy.

  2. I live in CA, hockey coverage is the same as it is in most states. Being in LA, get get both Kings and Ducks coverage so we do get a lot of hockey. Only 15,00 showed up because most all CA fans HATE the ducks. If the sharks won, San Jose would be packed crazy. And if the kings won.... well all those fans the kings used to have would mysteriously appear and there would be hundreds of thousands packing the staple center.

I see it differently. After living in the Bay Area from 2000-2005, I can say that there are a number of very dedicated, smart hockey fans. However, the vast majority of the area/region still questions whether the Sharks play soccer or hockey.

  3. Before I reply, one quick comment. This is my first post and I am glad to be in a forum with other Red Wings fans. I am in the San Diego, CA area where hockey coverage is sparse. We don't even have a minor league team anymore and what coverage you do get is mostly Kings/Ducks.

Welcome! There are a bunch of SoCal Wings fans here... some transplants (like myself) and some just legit SoCal born fans.

  4. Yeah - Step-dad is Principal 2nd, mom is happy just sitting in the 2nds. Not sure when she hired on with the DSO, but I was young. (Got a new bike and we got a new COLOR TV that year!) He's really good. One of the best in the country I think. Talented and motivated. Mom practices when needed. Hope she's not reading this.

My dad and step-ma are professional cellists with the Detroit Opera Theatre (I think she actually does all the hiring now). No CNN videos of them to share though.

What are your audition pieces? Do you have any .mp3's to share?

Wow... such a musical family. I grew up watching the DSO and Detroit Opera all the time. I'm actually an undergrad music major and a violist at that (ahh!). I still have about 3 or 4 years until I'm done with grad school and then I'll start thinking about auditions.

  5. Saw this on CNN - nice surprise from 6000 miles away.

Not really 'LGW members', but figured - whatever - they live and work there. Close to da Joe.

2nd violinists? My life-long dream/goal is to be a member of the DSO.
