You'd have Sundin ahead of Jagr and Kurri? Based on what?
-
What a great commercial! Keep it coming.
-
I'd have to put Harvey ahead of Lidstrom. Harvey changed the game of hockey around more than any other defenseman in history, including Bobby Orr. He won 7 Norris trophies in a row, and last time I checked, 7 is more than 5. I'd put Lidstrom 3rd behind Orr and Harvey. As for best European ever, I'd have to agree, although a lot of those Soviet Red Army players never played in the NHL, so it's not fair to judge how great they were. However, his consistency puts him above any other European player who played in the league, with Jagr being a close 2nd on my list.

It's only a matter of time before Therien gets fired. However, Recchi and Roberts have been awful this year, and when you look at their age, it's no surprise. Recchi has played well the last few years, but at his age, that level of production had to disappear eventually.

I'm pretty sure that Turco also made a play like that, although I wasn't aware of the Hedberg play.
-
Thank you for showing some sense, especially because it's one of the best movies ever made period. None of the other films most people have talked about are considered some of the best movies of all time. But good luck convincing that to the younger posters.

Which Wing has impressed you the most this season?
GMRwings1983 replied to Salviaman's topic in General
I've got to go with Osgood. He's playing better than I've ever seen him play. I expected the guys that are playing well to play well, and I've also been disappointed with a few of the players I thought we'd get more production from. -
Turco's my choice. I remember a few years ago he made that perfect pass down the ice to Modano who sped away on a breakaway goal. The problem with Turks is that he often becomes a playmaker for the other team because he's too wild out there for his own good. But he's still the best playmaker in my book.

They need to play some scary music each time Lilja drops the gloves. Or maybe have a warning buzzer sound off each time it looks like Samuelsson is going to take an ill advised shot.
-
I'd still take him over any of those guys. None of them have any "team toughness". Besides, that goal will probably excuse his pathetic play this season for the next 10 games here on LGW.
-
Come on guys, Hudler has a couple of consecutive games with goals, and already we're arguing about whether he'll ever be a 50 goal scorer. It's been forever since any Wings player scored 50, and there's only a few guys in the entire league that do it every year. I don't see it happening.
-
Unfortunately, the geniuses running the league are convinced that having more than 4 games against your own division is good for rivalries. What these morons don't realize is that there are many teams and divisions where rivalries don't mean as much as they do in other places.

I always have a hard time classifying movies into genres. Would Raging Bull be a sports movie? How about The Hustler? If the answer to both is yes, then I'd put those at number 1 and 2. Most of the other movies that are considered great sports movies are like kids movies to me, at least compared to the serious ones. Slapshot I'd definitely consider a sports movie, and would put it somewhere near the top 5.

Lilja fighting, Kopecky scoring beautiful goals, what next, Samuelsson scoring 3 goals from the point on the powerplay?
-
Wow! The league actually did something right for a change. Eight games vs. the division was an idiotic idea to begin with. Hell, I think that even 6 games against the division is still too much.
-
Hopefully he plays well enough to be put on the 2nd line permanently when Drapes comes back. I also wish that Franzen would pick up his play, but even if he does, he still won't have the offensive production that Hudler can put up on the 2nd line.
-
Why is Hartigan in ahead of Ellis? Is Ellis hurt or something?
-
Right. How could I forget that? The cup is ours for sure.
-
I don't know if anyone posted this earlier, but with all the odd-man rushes that we give up, I'm worried about having St. Louis and Lecavalier out there against us, especially on shorthanded chances.

Bettman: No NHLers at 2014 Olympics possible
GMRwings1983 replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
From a fan standpoint, I'd much rather watch the Olympics with NHL players in them, but since when has the NHL acted in the best interests of its fans? I understand the injury concerns, but injuries are a part of hockey, so these players know what they're getting themselves into. The Olympics are supposed to be about which country has the best team, and that can only be judged by sending the best players, and not amateurs. P.S. Here's to hoping that Bettman might not be the commissioner by 2014, but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part. -
I hope he takes some advice from Robert Lang, and gives up jogging or exercising after this incident.
-
That sucks, but 2 weeks isn't really that long. Someone will have to step it up, whether it be Franzen, Fillpulla, or dare I say it, Kopecky. Of course the problem is that none of those guys has stepped it up this year so far.
-
We don't need him to mix it up. He's 39 years old, and we have Downey in there, plus the "PAIN TRAIN" has finally awoken from his slumber.
-
I'm just excited. Like I posted yesterday, I've been waiting all year for the 'PAIN TRAIN" to drop the gloves. I thought Phaneuf went down a little too easily, though, so I didn't get to see what I wanted, which was Phaneuf's blood. Oh well, I guess we'll wait till the next game between the 2 teams to see that.

We don't have that kind of money people. This isn't the pre-salary cap days, when we could sign Jagr, and then add a guy like Rick Nash and Luongo on the side. We'd probably have to lose Z in order to get him. I don't like that deal.
