When have you ever seen the "PAIN TRAIN" get knocked on his caboose? The Gauthier fight doesn't count, since he wasn't ready, plus he wasn't the "PAIN TRAIN" back then. Phaneuf got lucky Lilja didn't hit him when he was down, though I would have.

Great win tonight after the last 2 outings that we had. Here are my thoughts on the game. 1. "PAIN TRAIN". I was going through cold turkey waiting for him to finally drop the gloves. Watch how his play picks up from now on. I'm disappoined, though, that he didn't punch that s***bag Phaneuf after he was down. He knew the PAIN TRAIN was getting ready to take over the fight, so he drops like a *****. 2. The odd-man rushes are getting ridiculous. Rafalski and Lidstrom have poor communication skills back there that are creating all the odd-man rushes on the PP. 3. Franzen looks like a beach whale out there. He laid a great hit on Phaneuf in the 1st period, but did nothing the rest of the game. I know he's not a scorer, but we still need more points from him offensively. 4. Samuelsson's spin around backhand moves are getting on my freaking nerves. What's worse is that he's back to playing the point on the PP. Does he have to cost us a game before someone tells him to cut out the crap? 5. Great to see Datsyuk scoring again. Hank took a backseat to him tonight. Who says Pavel's lost his scoring touch? 6. I hope Drapes gets better. Maltby and Cleary didn't look the same without him.

I think so. And hopefully it will increase the amount of brutal injuries that occur in one-on-one fights to the players that have been hiding behind the instigator rule, of which there are too many to name.

The Battle of 19 : Stevie vs Sakic and others
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Sure. What could be more intelligent than a bunch of retards shouting "Red Wings suck" at every game? I've never heard a divealanche fan say anything else besides that. Well that, and the fact that Sakic is the best captain ever, and Scott Parker is an unbeatable force. -

I'd marry a criminal over a divealanche fan any day. -
The better question is what makes you like him? He's a waste of size that doesn't play physical enough, he's slow, he can't score, and what's worse, we often have him playing at center where he clearly doesn't belong. The only thing he's ever done right is to beat up on poor Patrick Sharp.

They just got done showing the Wings/Devils final in 95. I hope they never show that again on the NHL network. Painful memories there.

That's like trading a sack of s*** for a can of worms. All jokes aside, Williams has for some unknown reason played well this year for Chicago, so the Blackhawks would never make this trade.

There's a lot of idiots in this world, and for some reason, most of them are divealanche fans. -

Nobody outside of Denver has ever tried to make this comparison. What does that tell you? That the trolls in that city are jealous and have always tried to compare Sakic to Yzerman, even though Stevie had already been captain in Detroit 10 years before the divealanche ever came into existence. As I've said before, Sakic in his prime was never as dominant, and never put up the offensive numbers that Stevie put up. Yzerman is a top 10 guy, while Sakic is 20-30 in all time ranking. Also, how can you say that Sakic has better raw offensive skills? He has that great wristshot, but never had the one-on-one moves and speed that Yzerman had. -
Isn't Danny Gare one of the Blue Jackets commentators? If so, then he was a pretty good scrapper in his days, and I'm surprised that he'd be acting like such a jerkoff after a simple fight. Then again, most announcers are big time homers. Remember that idiot divealanche announcer who called the Roy/Vernon fight?

We've had too many disappointments this year when it comes to scoring. Hudler, Franzen, and Fillpulla haven't put up the numbers that many people thought they would. I wasn't one of those delusional LGW members that predicted these guys to put up huge numbers, but I thought they'd do better than this. Likewise, we're finding out more and more that Kronwall and Lebda don't have the kind of shot that can create goals from the blueline. We only have Rafalski and Lidstrom to rely on for that. Also, our 3rd and 4th lines are playing hard, but if we're counting on them for scoring, then we're in big trouble. However, despite all the inconsistency, I'm glad where we're at overall, but I'd still like to see someone added at the deadline to boost this team's offense.

I'd trade Kopecky for Gratton in a heartbeat. Kopecky is like a poor man's Gratton. Not that Gratton is an all star or anything, but that shows you what I think of Kopecky. We'd have a more physical player who is better on draws, and can add more offense than Kopecky. Oh yeah, and he's a better fighter too.
-
I don't know. There's not very many teams that I see us being able to take in an all out brawl. Lilja and Kopecky need to step it up in the fighting department before we start talking about stuff like that.
-
I don't see him getting claimed by another team if we put him on waivers again, but you never know. If he does get claimed, then we're back to having the "PAIN TRAIN" as our top enforcer with Kopecky pitching in every now and then for laughs. As for Ellis, he's played well this season, at least compared to Drake, Kopecky, and even Franzen. There's no reason to waive him. I'd make him a regular on the 4th line if I were running things, and have Downey and Franzen as the other 4th liners.

When was the last time that a Wings player had 2 fights in a game? I still can't believe it myself.
-
Exactly, which is why the Wings have to come out focused for every game. This way they'll avoid putting up any turkeys like they put up Thursday night, no pun intended.
-
Apparently Nashville did. There's no excuse losing to a last place team like that.
-
Yeah, but then he wouldn't have gotten to fullfill his lifelong dream of getting his name on the cup.
-
Even when Drake is 100% - Why not Downey full time?
GMRwings1983 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
As several people have posted earlier, we don't need Drake to kill penalties, because we have plenty of guys to do that already. Downey has outperformed both Drake and Kopecky, and as far as I'm concerned, both him and Ellis should take those guys' roster spots. -
The only people who always try to compare Sakic to Yzerman are those trolls who happen to be divealanche fans. Anyone else who knows that hockey existed before the year 1996, realizes that Yzerman was a better player than Sakic in their primes. Stevie scored 60 goals twice, how many times has Sakic done that? How many times did Sakic score over 150 points in a season, or even come close for that matter? Even if he passes Stevie in all time numbers, that doesn't mean s***, because Ron Francis is 4th all time in scoring, yet how many people have him ranked in the all time top 10? I look at who was better in their primes, and Yzerman was by far a better player.
-
Why would we need him? We already have Lilja, Downey, and Kopecky. Any team in the league would be begging for that kind of muscle.
-
Great, now Barry has jinxed Ozzie. He probably said good things about him on purpose knowing what that would do.
-
Well, for years they've had the best minor league team around, so maybe this new coach knows what the hell he's doing. They've been a huge disappointment so far after making what I thought were several good moves in the offseason. The NHL needs a good team in Washington, so I hope they turn it around.

Looks like Howard has been watching Hasek a little too much this year.
