There's more things not going well than what we can fix. Most of our garbage players don't have much trade value. Hasek needs to get his s*** together or be demoted to backup. Franzen looks like he's caught a case of Josh Langfeld Syndrome. Flip, Hudler, and Sammy are playing O.K. lately, so you can't blame them. I'd split our top line up just to see what happens. Likewise, Downey should be inserted in the lineup, because Drake gives us nothing that we don't have, he's 39 years old for crying out loud.

They don't need one, because they have Dandenault. Remember the people posting here about a month ago, talking about how we should bring Dandenault back because of his size and grit?
-
Didn't he pick a sick day against Edmonton in that fateful series in 2006 when there was talk that Legace would be pulled?
-
It's the quality of the shots that counts. We didn't have the number of breakaways that the Hawks had. You expect teams to score when they get chances like that.
-
I definitely like Patrick Sharp better when he's getting beat up by Lilja or Kopecky.
-
So much for Hasek bouncing back after bad games, or the team coming out focused against the Hawks to avoid another loss to them.
-
Please come back Bobby. We're sorry about what we said here about you on LGW. We need your clutch goals for the playoffs. And forget about all that poor work ethic talk. Work ethic isn't important anyway.

Datsyuk should wear sunglasses for every one of his interviews, and only refer to himself in the 3rd person. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a girl at each arm. That would definiitely help his marketing, and let's see Hank compete with that.
-
I can't believe he's such a good scrapper at 19. I don't know how he'll stack up against the top enforcers in the business, but only time will tell. I wish we had him here , because other than Lilja, I don't think that anyone on our team could take this guy in a fight.
-
I don't care if he likes the Wings or not. If he thinks that Getzlaf is one of the top 5 players in the league, then he's an idiot. Also, most homers here on LGW wouldn't have Hank ranked number 1.
-
Looking at my list, it's a little biased towards the guys that have won the Stanley Cup, with the exception of Lindros. Also, how's Shanny not a unanimous choice? Over 600 goals and 3 cups, that seems pretty unanimous to me.
-
I was wondering if anyone here knew a site or link where I could see what the all time plus/minus numbers are in NHL history? I tried hockeydb.com, but that hasn't helped. All I know is that Bobby Orr was +120 something for one season, and that Larry Robinson was +700 something for his entire career. However, I don't have the exact stats or any kind of detailed list itself.
-
Now that I think about the poster's question, how in the hell would you market guys like Hudler, Lilja, or Kopecky? We have some creative posters here on LGW, myself included, that know how to lampoon some of these players, but I don't think that it would be something that the team would market.

The Joe needs less of a fan friendly atmosphere, and more of a raucous, beer drinking, boob flashing crowd. Oh, and lower the damn ticket prices as I posted earlier. This team could get away with raising ticket prices when we had all those popular fan favorites on our team, but Ilitch needs to realize that fans aren't going to cut this team so much slack, no matter how many games they win in the regular season.
-
Thanks for that. +124, now that's unbeilivable when you consider how the league's plus/minus leaders every year are around +45 or something. Who knows where Orr's all time plus/minus would be if he didn't retire so early.

What's to stop Chris Chelios from writing himself in for 20 million votes?
-
Yeah, I'd just love to see people in Edmonton or Calgary waving confederate flags around in the audience.
-
Is it Vinny's fault that their goaltending has sucked the last few years, and so have their defensemen? Also, Boyle has been hurt for the first part of the season. As for watching last night's game, I've seen Vinny play before, so I don't need any lessons as to what he's capable of? If you're only going on last night's game, then you're the one who shouldn't comment. Oh and by the way, I believe that he scored 5 points last night, which isn't too bad. I want Z to win the scoring title also, but I'm not going to lampoon a great player for putting up a 5 point night just because he surpassed our guy in points. I don't believe that Gretzky or Lemieux were great defensively either. Are you going to criticize their offensive accomplishments also?
-
They're going to have to lower ticket prices first, and then worry about everything else, if they expect people to come to the Joe. Creative marketing isn't going to put more money in the pockets of the people who want to go to the games but can't afford to.
-
I'm genuinely scared that we might lose to the Hawks again, thus giving their idiot fans bragging rights for the longest time to come. We can't go 4 games without beating them, that's just too embarassing.
-
Do you really think that Vinny is worse defensively than Crosby or Ovechkin? Nobody has ever questioned their talents. Vinny is one of the top 5 players in the league, and I'd definitely have him ranked ahead of Datsyuk, and probably even Z. I know you love Datsyuk, but he's not nearly the scorer that Vinny is, and isn't as physical either, so you can't go around calling Datsyuk a more complete player. As for St. Louis, the guy is ******* 5'7, and led the league in scoring several years back, so I got all the respect in the world for him and his talent.
-
No reason to trade Sammy, unless we get a better forward in return. He's played well lately, so I'm going to cut him a little more slack than I'd usually give him.
-
Yeah, then we might actually have an enforcer who dresses regularly on this team.
-
For a long time I've said the 02 team, but recently I've switched to the 97 team. Yzerman, Fedorov, Shanny, Larionov, were all better players in 97 than in 02. Likewise, our top 4 defensemen were better in 97, and we had more grit. The biggest advantage for the 02 team is Hasek over Vernon. Likewise, Holmstrom, Robitaille and Hull were huge additions, but don't forget that we didn't have Kozlov on the 02 team, and he was always a great performer in the playoffs. Now that I think about it, the 02 team is more impressive on paper and in the regular season, but in a playoff series I'd take the 97 team.

How does he remind you of Hank? He's not as good defensively, isn't as strong on the puck, and lacks those movie star looks.
