Hey don't feel too bad. If Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr walked into that bar and got drunk and interacted with all the patrons, nobody besides you would have known who the hell they are. That's just the way it is in most parts of the country.
-
I agree. It's too early to say that Hasek is done or that we should trade him. He's a pro, and he'll try to fix his game as we've seen him do before. Let's not forget that Ozzie can go through slumps also. It's easy not to have slumps when all the pressure is on the other guy. We can't play so poorly defensively, however, and hope to get away with it no matter who's in net.

The amount of odd man rushes last night was ridiculous. Also, Rafalski got undressed several times and looked really sloppy out there in the neutral zone. And what's the deal with Franzen? He looked useless out there last night. I haven't watched the last few games, but is this what he's been playing like since his injury?
-
Since this game is getting out of hand, we need to bring our tough players out on the ice to start some s***. Oh yeah, I forgot, we don't have any tough players. And what happened to our defense? We're giving up too many odd man rushes and making Tkachuk look like the fastest skater in the league.
-
No s***, I was just thinking the same thing. They've got Mayers, Jackman, and Hinote out there. What have we got if things get out of hand? This is just some more of our "team pussiness" philosophy.
-
Why do I need to read up? I've seen Marleau disappear many times in the playoffs, most recently in our series against the Sharks last year.
-
Lou, I'm not very fond of the lack of support that you're showing for our enforcer. In fact, you jinxed him into being scratched for the game.
-
How's that a good deal? San Jose gets one of the 10 best players in the world, while Atlanta gets a notorious playoff choker. Last time I checked, Kovalchuk doesn't need a center to put up numbers.
-
As I've said before, some of you who think that Ozzie is HOF worthy are too far in the forest to see the trees. Just stop and think for a minute if Ozzie screams Hall of Famer to you. If he does, then you're a homer who doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to hockey. The HOF is for elite players, and Ozzie is not an elite. Some of his numbers are impressive, but that's not all it takes to get into the HOF.

Jagr is actually a big forward, and can be hard to knock off the puck when he's on his game. Likewise, I've never thought of him as a player that is shy about standing in front of the net. I always have a hard time classifying what a power forward is, but it seems like if someone is european, then that disqualifies them in the minds of others from ever being a power forward.
-
I wish the game was more wide open, but increasing the size of the nets is a mistake. You'd have to put an asterisk next to any records that have ever been set in the NHL, and I don't believe that any sport has ever done anything like that.
-
Yeah, really Lou. My predictions this year have been horrible so far. Each time I predict that Lilja will murder someone, it doesn't happen. However, I don't see too many fights happening anymore for either Drake or Kopecky, so unless Downey gets a lot more games, we will finish dead last.
-
Guess what? Sawchuk and Plante both played for teams that were more stacked than the opposition in a 6 team league. Should Osgood be ahead of those guys too? Yes the Oilers scored a lot, but Fuhr made the big saves when he had to. Osgood has 1 cup to his credit, and let's be honest, we won the cup in spite of his play and not because of it. Every legendary NHL player played with tons of talent around him. Gretzky, Howe, Orr, Hull, Richard, etc. That doesn't diminsh their accomplishments in my opinion.
-
Thank god for Patrick Sharp. He's made Lilja and Kopecky look like Bob Probert the last 2 yrs. Maybe Sammy should fight him the next time we play to boost his physicality.
-
So Patrick Roy wasn't a jerk? Yeah, I know that you can't leave the best off the list, but if you're going to leave off a sure fire hall of famer like Belfour, him being a jerk is hardly the reason to do it. I still don't understand if these are your favorite goalies since 1980, or who you actually think were the best?
-
I'm very envious that you've had a chance to meet all those greats. Where did you get a chance to meet all of them? P.S. Did you tell Brashear to look out for the "PAIN TRAIN" when they play us?
-
Hah! You have Osgood ahead of Grant Fuhr? And I thought I was a homer. I know Grant Fuhr played with great players, but so did every elite goalie in league history. That doesn't diminish what he did. And what the hell is Tommy Salo doing on that list? Why don't you put Lalime and Cechmanek on that list while you're at it?
-
Khabibulin always plays well against us, and he reminds me of one of those hot goalies that we always struggle with in the playoffs. Oh, and what's up with Lang and Williams? It's not funny anymore that these guys play twice as hard against us than they did for us. Like I said the last time we played them, I hope we don't meet them in the playoffs. There are so many things wrong with what you just said, that I don't even know how to analyze it.

Madonna is on the decline right now at this point in his career. Besides, he's another center, which we have too much of. If we're going to sign a center, I vouch for Robert Lang. The man scores big goals, and as much as people on LGW hate to admit it, we miss talking about him daily on these forums, although I guess we do it anyways.
-
He only eclipsed him statistically because Bobby Hull left the NHL early to play in the WHL.
-
Good luck convincing that to the other posters here.
-
As a team right now, we're not having any trouble scoring goals, so I'm O.K. with his production. However, if the team goes into a scoring slump, then his numbers will be a problem. I know that goes along with hindsight being 20/20, but that's just the way it is. I haven't watched all the games, so I don't know if he's shooting less than before, or whether it's just one of those hard luck things.

It's weird that any of us living in the States have ever heard of hockey the way it's treated here.
