He might get in, but not if he has to share starting duties with Hasek. Also, Luongo and Kipper are bigger names, and we know the league is desperate to try to market its stars, so I don't see Ozzie being voted in ahead of those guys, unless they put up some horrendous numbers.

Crosby's the best offensive player in the world, so it's hard to say no. Also, I bet the JLA would fill up real quickly if Sid the Kid was in town.
-
Well look on the bright side guys. If Downey leaves, then the "PAIN TRAIN" will finally come out of his slumber and become our top enforcer again. Right now he's jealous that Drake and Downey have been taking away all his thunder.
-
Yeah, but he gave people something to write about on LGW, and scored huge goals in the playoffs the likes of which have never been seen.

Eric Lindros, bust or biggest bust ever?

As someone already posted, Lafontaine is already in the HOF so that defeats you argument. I've said this before, but Neely opened a pandora's box for many players who are on the bubble with the HOF. Then again, look at a guy like Ciccarrelli, who scored over 600 goals, or Glenn Anderson, who was one of the best clutch performers ever. The point is that the HOF has made a lot of odd choices, so stats aren't an exact science. -
Well look on the bright side, at least they still show hockey highlights in the last 5 minutes of sportscenter.
-
You never know, they once traded Markus Naslund for Alek Stojanov.
-
All Kopecky has going for him is that he is tall. That might do him good if this is a dating show, however, in the NHL you need a little more than that before you're considered a decent player. You're giving him way too much credit for doing absolutely nothing.
-
Holland is doing this just to anger the pro-fighting people on LGW.
-
What's to stop Chris Chelios from getting his own Chris Chelios leadership award, and giving it to himself each month?
-
Wow what a wonderfully idiotic idea by Ron Maclean? Maybe the league should just play regular season games to amuse the fans with scoring, and then let every team into the playoffs. Of course teams play harder defensively when they know that more is on the line. How is this a great point or a news flash on his part? Hockey in the 80's was always wide open, even in the playoffs when teams had a lot to play for. It has nothing to do with the number of teams that make it.
-
What about Chelios? When was the last time he was in an All-Star game? I say we vote him in, but it probably won't work since so many people still hate him.

That's funny, I could swear there are guys in the HOF that have worse credentials than you just mentioned. As for the hype and potential, those were unrealistic expectations, and I don't see how he can be blamed for the injury problems that caused him to not meet those expectations. -
Agree, and for the same reason.
-
I might be willing to trade Lilja for Lecavalier straight up, but only if Holland is willing to sign another enforcer to take his place.
-
Don't feel too bad. At least you can always watch poker re-runs on espn.
-
Yeah, and last night they had a great show on about the Red Wings during the 90's, with all our trials and tribulations. And as someone posted earlier, if you have Direct TV, it should be on channel 215.
-
Not faster, but there will be more goals scored.
-
Goalies should be forced to play a standup style of goaltending. No more of this butterfly s***. I've been watching vintage hockey on the NHL network all weekend, and I forgot just how fast and wide open the game was back then. More hitting, more fighting, and as it pertains to this conversation, more bad goals given up, especially down low. One idea I'm not open to is making the nets bigger. That's bush league stuff.
-
Why not? He played for the divealanche didn't he? There's no reason for why we shouldn't dislike that piece of garbage. Besides, if we're going to sign someone, I want more than a 50/50 chance that that player might actually play all of the games.

Why Are the Red Wings So Good Year After Year?
GMRwings1983 replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
The Calder trade last year. Didn't have to think very far back to find that one. -
Well, apparently Babcock doesn't agree with you. Also, I didn't say that Hudler hasn't earned a place on the roster, I just don't think that 2nd line duty is that place. As for Osgood, I don't think he should start when Hasek comes back, but that's for another thread.
-
If Hudler had trouble scoring on the 2nd line, I can't see how he's going to score on the 4th line playing with Drake, Kopecky, or Downey. Well, maybe we'll at least see the physical side of Hudler if he's playing with Downey.
-
Who's he going to fight? The whole league has been ducking him after he destroyed Moen and Sharp last year.
