Funny how Leafs fans want this guy dead when he makes a mistake, yet when he racks up offensive numbers, they want him to be a Norris candidate. Really, their whole team is pitiful defensively. The goals scored last night were a showcase of how bad they're as a group on their side of the ice. All that said, I'm not excusing McCabe, because he does suck defensively, and he's grossly overpaid for a guy that makes so many blunders.
-
Come on guys. 99% of post-game comments are just cliches. What did you expect him to say? That we don't have much depth and that our young guys aren't doing s*** out there.
-
The bottom line is that people need to step up and stop making idiotic mental mistakes. It doesn't matter what Babcock does with the lines, because players still have to go out there and play the game. I'm afraid that if we split our big line up, we won't have any scoring at all 5 on 5. As for the lack of physicality that some were complaining about, it's too late to do anything about that till the deadline. We should have addressed that in the offseason.
-
Then maybe they'll take Samuelsson. He's a PP specialist with great passing ability, right? Well, at least Babcock thought so for the last 2 years.
-
Gotta go with Z. He's a little better defensively, and just watch how hard he plays on every shift. I'm not saying that Pavel is lazy, but Hank's work ethic is why he'll be captain here some day.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing Boulerice running at Pronger or Iginla, but I don't think he'll ever play in the league again. He's had trouble getting on the ice over the last few years, which is what makes this incident even more dumb, because the Flyers had made him their enforcer.
-
Who the hell would have thought that Draper would be our best goal scorer at this point? Well, I'll take it from him or anyone else on this roster. Now if only Fillpulla and Hudler could put up some points.
-
Let me guess, that s***head Pronger probably skated away and hid behind Parros and May when Boogaard did that to him.

Pretty good idea, and I can see you put some work into it. However, I don't see the point of having the top 4 teams in each conference play each other in the playoffs when they've already played each other 5 times during the season. You'd only be deciding who the best team in the conference is, which would already be decided in the regular season. Maybe 2 conferences could be taken together to play in the playoff round against each other. I think that would make your idea better. But overall, I have to give you a thumbs up, since I think it's a lot better than what the league has now. P.S. What made you decide that the Carolina Panthers should be in the NHL?
-
Kenny Holland must be on vacation right now.
-
Hey, take it easy. Sammy shoots enough. What do you want him to do, start shooting on net from the other side of the ice? As for Fillpulla and Hudler, they're doing exactly what I was afraid they'd do. We took a gamble on them being 2nd liners, and so far it hasn't paid off. They need to bring it every game like Pavel and Hank do. They don't have the talent those guys have, but that doesn't mean they can't play as hard on every shift.
-
He's the Joe Montana of the NHL right now when it comes to clutch. The Hawks should just keep him on the ice the entire 3rd period. He'd stand in one spot for 19 minutes, and during the last minute he'd score a big goal when they need it.
-
I hope we don't play the Blackhawks in the 1st round of the playoffs.
-
I can't believe that Koci is going so far to avoid fighting the "pain train". Hiding next to Martin Havlat, how pathetic.
-
I have to agree with you. When I first saw this topic, I immediately thought we should give them Lilja. Of course then I read the words "offensive defenseman", and that put an end to that fantasy. I don't know if I'd even consider Lebda to be an offensive defenseman either.
-
As I've said before, I was happy when he left, but when we made no effort to sign any top 6 forwards in the offseason, I became worried about not bringing him or Bertuzzi back. Well, I guess someone else will have to score big goals for us in the playoffs.
-
Four games, four bad pinches, four goals against for Lilja

Now that I think about it, you can't really blame Lilja for any of these mistakes. Everyone knows that enforcers have never been known to be the most skilled players on a team. -
Most enforcers do have a temper. There is a difference between dropping the gloves and trying to send someone to the hosptial with a cheapshot. I've just never thought of Boulerice as that kind of player, but this does change my mind on that.

I believe that's also what he said about Scott Parker after their infamous fight.

Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?

Please come back Bobby! We miss you and we're sorry for everything we said about you on LGW. -
They're only acting this way because they're playing for a franchise which is giving them leeway in making this decision. If this was another team, both players would have made their decisions by now. I'm guessing that Brian Burke doesn't care about this situation, because if he did, then he could put his foot down on both guys and make an ultimatum. I think Selanne is still hung over from winning his 1st cup. As for Niedermayer, he's on his period, so we have to give him some time.
-
It's not very often that a team up by many goals starts resorting to dirty play. I've never really thought of Boulerice as a dirty player, though. I seriously doubt that he was trying to start a fight while his team was up by 5 goals.
-
I love Drapes, and I'm all for this deal. It wouldn't make sense to have offered Maltby a deal, but not offer one to Drapes. I know we're loaded at center, but he gives us a lot in the way of PK and faceoffs. Not to mention, he's one of the hardest workers on the team.

Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?
GMRwings1983 replied to datsyuk_13_fan's topic in General
When we split them up, we can't get any scoring done 5 on 5. At least when we keep them together, we can generate offense from that one line. In the 1st two games, splitting them up didn't help the other players on the team to generate any offense. If the other guys have to step up, then so be it.
