    Probert in the movies

Are you serious? The last few scenes of the movie alone are enough to embarass any true hockey fan.

    Johan Franzen

I like what Franzen brings to this team, but he will not be a star by the end of the season. Unless you're referring to the Dallas Stars?
  3. GMRwings1983

    Like him more every day.

Punching bag? Something tells me that even if Downey was the best fighter in the league, you still wouldn't want him on the team. And what is your idea of a talented 4th liner? Ellis, Hartigan, Kopecky? I would trade most of our 4th liners for a 6 pack of beer.

    17 cuts made today

He wasn't horrible, but even though he can move the puck well, he doesn't have a shot that can scare the other team.

    Probert in the movies

    I love you too.

Video: Downey vs. Roy (Great tilt!)

Every player on our team last year had only 1 move also. The duck and cover.

Who else is concerned about scoring depth?

I think that Downey will give us that scoring depth that we need.
  8. GMRwings1983

    Mowers A Ducky.

I'm afraid that he might possess that "team tougness" that Babcock and Holland are looking for.

    todays frozen moment

Those are called hockey groupies. They appear in every arena, and are there just to watch the fights.

    Probert in the movies

Miracle was a great movie. Mystery, Alaska looked like it was directed by an espn anchor. It was horrible. What I was saying in my post is that there haven't been as many good hockey movies as there could be.

    Downey or Sopel?

We want an enforcer so that we're not cheering for a team that runs away from fights because that's humiliating to some of us. Also, I guarantee you that most Wings players would love to have an enforcer in our lineup for some protection. And will people please stop posting about how close we came to making it to the finals. The bottom line is that we lost, so let it go. No one is saying that an enforcer would help us win a cup. We just want an enforcer for at least the regular season, which is when most fights occur.

    Waiver movement thus far

No, we should sign Cloutier and then trade for Emery so that we can have some more toughness on this team.

    Mowers A Ducky.

Why do they have to steal all our talent?

    Downey or Sopel?

Is this the same Matt Ellis that skated around aimlessly last season banging into boards for 5-10 minutes a game? And as someone posted earlier, who in the blue hell is Mark Hartigan? I couldn't pick him out of a police lineup.

    Probert in the movies

I remember there was once a time when movies were actually good. As much as I love Slapshot, it's unfortunately one of the only good hockey movies ever made.

    Downey or Sopel?

News flash. I bet you that 90% of the enforcers in NHL history weren't better than 12 other forwards that played on their team. That didn't stop those teams from still dressing an enforcer. I guarantee you that we'll have players on our 4th line this year just like last year that can't produce anything offensively. We might as well have an enforcer to fill those slots. Kenny only invited him to see if Downey can be that magical enforcer that Kenny's looking for that can put up 20 goals and not pick up any minor penalties all season. However, I'm beginning to think that that is what everyone anti-enforcer person on LGW wants.

Howard to battle Ozzie for backup role

Maybe we should send Hasek to Grand Rapids. I'm sure he won't mind spending a year there. Then we can finally bring back Cujo to be our starter. Just kidding.
  18. GMRwings1983

    Downey or Sopel?

The only reason he won't be playing is because Kenny Holland and fans like you don't want him to play. If he does play, then he'll make a difference out there by throwing some weight around.
  19. GMRwings1983

    Downey or Sopel?

I can't believe how many of you are buying Kenny Holland's bulls*** on this topic. Holland is a great GM that knows what it takes to keep a winning team together, but his handling of this enforcer business has been inexcusable for the last couple of years. It's embarassing to me as a Wings fan that all other teams have an enforcer, while we have a team that lets itself get pushed around.

Howard to battle Ozzie for backup role

I know this will anger the Ozzie fans on this board, but if Howard gets the number 2 slot, that could make Osgood expendable come the trading deadline, pending Hasek's health. I doubt this will actually happen, but it's just something to throw out there.
  21. GMRwings1983

Battle for Roster spots getting tighter...

    Because Holland hates enforcers.

Battle for Roster spots getting tighter...

Do you work for Kenny Holland's PR department? Yeah, I also wish we went after someone in the offseason who could add something offensively, but we didn't. However this anti-enforcer bulls*** has been going on too long now in Detroit. Some of us just happen to be fed up, and we want someone on the team who'll actually stand up for his teammates for a change.
  23. GMRwings1983

    Langenbrunner out 2 months

Take it easy there's a lot of Osgood fans on this board. I still can't believe we won that series after that goal.
  24. GMRwings1983

    Wings Roster

That'll make Georges Laraque s*** his pants. Look out for the pain train Big George.

    Photos from game vs. Pens

Thanks so much for the pictures. I love those on-ice photos. I didn't know that Downey was wearing Lang's number. Hopefully he'll bring the same kind of work ethic and battle mentality that Lang brought to every game.
