My dream lineup is any Wings lineup that actually has an enforcer on it.
-
I agree, his indecisiveness has gotten ridiculous and immature. I'm just gonna start calling him Hamlet from now on.
-
Look at the number of goals that Kronwall has scored in this league, and then explain how you think he has any shooting power or accuracy. Neither of the two is a scoring threat. At this point, I'd take Lebda, but only because of Kronwall's constant injury troubles.
-
When Sopel learns how to fight like the pain train, then he should take his place. Seriously, though, Quincey has higher potential than Sopel or Lilja, so I'd like to see him get more of a chance. I see Sopel battling for that 6 to 7 spot in the lineup. However, with the injuries that we usually have on defense, and the fact that Cheli will probably play less games, it's likely that Sopel will play in over half our games if he makes the team.
-
He's a great puck mover and a pretty good skater. His weakness is that he gets injured too often, and doesn't have a threatening shot from the point. Any comparisons to him and Lidstrom have been ridiculous. At Kronwall's age, Lidstrom was already one of the top 5 defenseman in the league, which is a label that Kronwall will never be able to attain.

I'd hate to think that we've heard all this hype for years about a guy who won't even make the team. I think that is the reason we're all pulling so much for him. That, and the fact that he had a bad break which prevented him from being a great NHL player.
-
Right, we've heard that one before. Also he's going to play defense and win the Norris trophy right? What would he give us that we don't already have? Besides, I don't think that he has that "team toughness" that Babcock wants.
-
I'd love to see either Lehtinen or Morrow here, but I don't see either of those players being let go by Dallas. However, I wouldn't mind having Turco here sometime in the future, although I'm not sure that Dallas is ready yet to make Mike Smith their starting goalie for the future.
-
I don't know about that. Norton could play both defense and wing, while Downey has around 15 points in just under 200 NHL games. What I'm saying is that neither of these guys are solid players, and that's why I'm skeptical that Downey or any other players like him will be wearing a Wings uniform any time soon.
-
Does Lilja in the 06 playoffs ring a bell?
-
I'll believe it when I see Downey actually make the team. And after that, I still won't believe it will last, because when Norton got injured last year, this team completely dispersed with finding a replacement enforcer. The only way that Holland or Babcock will take an enforcer is if that player can score 10-20 goals, and there aren't many tough guys that fit under that classification.
-
I think that we'll all be fine with him just winning the Conn Smythe.
-
Who can forget his idiotic officiating in Stevie Y's last game.
-
He's not going to drop the gloves anymore here than he has anywhere else in his career, especially at his current age.
-
There's a difference between having size, and being a waste of size. Kopecky fits into the latter category.
-
Get rid of him so he won't be a pain in our asses anymore.
-
He'll have to beat out our current MONSTER Lilja if he wants that roster spot.
-
I forgot about that when I wrote my post. He's the only noteworthy acquisition they had in the offseason, and it's amazing to think that now they're supposedly cup favorites because of that.
-
Well, at least he knows how to dress.
-
The Ducks and Sabres have two of the worst jerseys ever in sports, and the divealanche jersey is something that I've wanted to wipe my ass with for over a decade now.
-
I don't see how you can dislike it. It's a classic and they didn't make many alterations to it, which they shouldn't
-
I don't get it. What big acquisitions did this team make in the offseason to be cup favorites? The only moves they made were losing Hannan and Toskala. They're still a bunch of overachievers with a captain that pulls a Houdini every time they need him the most.
-
Exactly. Where the hell did all this love for Sopel come from? If he was a top 6 D-man, he wouldn't be trying out for training camp, but would instead already have a spot with some team.
-
But once again, the Hall of Fame should be for great players. All those guys you mentioned in your post deserve to make it over Turgeon. Stats are important, but not as important as you're making them. This isn't baseball. And how can you compare his greatness to Pat Lafontaine?
-
How dare we replace Robert Lang and Todd Bertuzzi with an out of shape, unmotivated player.
