He's an all-star player, but in the playoffs whenever he hits a wall, he never seems able to recover from it, and that is a horrible problem to have if you're the captain of a team. However, at this point, I didn't see them doing anything besides re-signing him.

I agree with most posters in that I don't understand why you'd eliminate a Canadian team. Assuming there's no relocaton and we're only talking about elimination, I'd eliminate Nashville and Florida.
-
We'll call them "The Midget Line"

Why would any Wings fan have hated Bertuzzi as much as we hate Forsberg? As for what he brings to the table, fans know about his injury troubles and we don't want that here. How often in any sport does a guy with a history of injuries all of a sudden get rid of the injury bug and stay healthy from then on out? Practically never.

Malkin is a lot bigger than Grigorenko, so I have a hard time envisioning the comparisons between the two, unless Grigorenko plays some sort of ultra-physical style for his size. Some might take this as a pessimistic comment, but if Grigorenko scores 20 goals this year, I'd be pleasantly surprised, especially since he's never played at this kind of level before.

Now if he could only beat up Markov's agent and do us all a favor. That would teach him for going after the kind of money Markov wants.
-
Don't forget, though, that the potential for Getzlaf or Perry's growth is much higher than that of Hudler, Samuelsson, or Cleary's. So last year's stats might not mean much when assessing the present.
-
Right now it's what have you done for me lately with Holland? Our team gets smaller and softer every year, and up until last year, it has affected us greatly in the playoffs in recent memory. Once again, we're a smaller team on paper than we were a year before.
-
All Samuelsson has proven is that Babcock is willing to give him top 6 minutes, and not that he can do anything with it. As for Draper and Hudler, neither is a top 6 player. Drapes is a great checking-line center, and Hudler has been Babcock's scrub up to this point of his career, so we've never seen him get any minutes. Even though Hank and Pavel are better than any forward Anaheim has except for Selanne, Anaheim's forwards are much better when you look at all the forward lines combined

Some of what you say is true, but don't forget that Giguere is a positional goalie. He's not supposed to make spectacular saves like you'd see Hasek make in his prime, because Giguere is always in solid positioning. Also, it's hard to go against his overtime record in the playoffs. All in all, I don't think that he's one of the top 5 goalies in the league, but I'd love to have a guy like that playing for the Wings.

I don't intend for everything I say to be printed on T-shirts and neither does anyone else. As for being open-minded, I'll give you that one. I do hate baseball and am strongly biased against it. I just don't understand how something like this can be considered a beatdown when there was no real punches landed. Then again, the entire list was put together by 12 year olds working for espn, so why even bother.

In hockey when you throw noogies like that you're called a wuss, in baseball when you do that, you're called Rocky Marciano. That's why I think baseball is for girls.
-
I hate Pronger because he is a piece of garbage. However, I have to disagree with your comment about him needing a great partner on defense in order for him to look good. He played great in Edmonton when he had nobody to pair up with. Also, he's better than Macinnis or Niedermayer, so it doesn't matter that they were his teammates at one time.
-
Kenny Holland doesn't like guys over 6'3. They tend to be too physical out there on the ice. And most importantly, they lack "team toughness"
-
Z is better defensively than Heatley, but Heatley is a solid defensive forward in his own right. The hardest thing with guys like Hank and Pavel is that Wings players never come close to leading the league in scoring, so it's hard to compare them with the other top players purely based on stats.
-
I love Hank, but how can you say without being a homer that he's one of the top 5 players in the league.
-
I don't want either Lindros or O'Neill, but why are people so protective of Kopecky's roster spot. What potential does he have except for the fact that he's 6'3, and he isn't exactly a wrecking ball out there for that size. As far as this list goes, all these players are unsingned for a good reason. Either they're washed up, or have a history of injuries.

Should Sergei Fedorov's number be retired in the future?
GMRwings1983 replied to Chaldean's topic in General
What has Fedorov done for Columbus though? Do you really think their fans are going to proudly look up at his number in the rafters knowing that he did nothing for them? Look at a guy like Bourque. Yes it's ridiculous that his number was retired, but at least he gave divealanche fans good memories when they won the cup in 2001. -
I thought Lindros was retiring?

Those were the good old days. I'm surprised that Wensink didn't kill anybody that night.
-
Too lazy to put a list together right now, but I'll add to the Crosby vs. Lidstrom argument. Lidstrom is the best all-around player in the league, while Crosby is the best all-around offensive palyer in the league. I won't take career accomplishmnets or consistency into account, because this is a present list, and also Crosby is still young.

Fighting? Are you sure you're on the right forum?

There's very few teams that have a worse logo then the Hurricanes. That logo makes me want to puke.

"Changes to Predators lease could affect sale of team"
GMRwings1983 replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
This is the same thing as what happened with the Penguins last year in that seesaw bargaining process. Only this time, the team doesn't have as strong a fan base, and I don't expect to see the governor of Tennessee stepping in to save a franchise that no one cares about. -
For once, a jersey that improves over its previous incarnation. I like how there's now more blue included than in the old jerseys, and the newer logo looks nice also.
